I love this game, and it's a shame that it never got as popular as it should have been. There are some parts that are a slog to get through but overall this is a fantastic game and I couldn't recommend it enough. P.S. The biggest letdown for me personally is that pretty much all of the merch is offsale, I really love the Scarecrow Sam T-Shirt in particular, but you can't buy it anymore and I don't know if it'll come back anytime soon.

i think this game one of my favorite, i love the artstyle and the story is pretty interesting to me, i really love the bond between sam and john, some characters is easy to forget but some of them are interesting. definitely i recommend to give it a try.

Ich habe das Spiel nun durch und es war ein tolles humorvolles Spiel. Das Artwork ist schlichtweg wunderschön. Jede Szenerie wirkt wie ein liebevoll gemaltes Gemälde. Auch musikalisch wird die Welt zum Erlebnis: Die Kompositionen fügen sich nahtlos ins visuelle Design ein und schaffen eine Atmosphäre. Die Herausforderung hält sich im moderaten Rahmen – zwischendurch eingestreute Mini-Puzzle und Kämpfe bringen angenehm Abwechslung ins Erzähltempo, ohne frustrierend zu wirken. Sie dienen eher der Einbindung des Spielers in die Geschichte als dem reinen Skill-Drill. Ein RPG was nur zu empfehlen ist, wenn man mal Abwechslung haben möchte.

I absolutely loved playing this game, while originally under the impression i was going to hate it. The first time I played eastward on my switch, I'd bought it half off and the cover had enticed me from the moment I had saw it, but I was under the impression Sam would be the main character for the full game, but when I began with John, I was a bit perplexed(?) It was at this moment I began to dislike Eastward for a while on my first play through of Chapter 1, I felt it was going to get worse and I was going to hate it the whole time i played, and that this would never change. But my opinion did change. From the amazing graphics, engaging story, funny background characters, and charters that are front and center, the goals, the world, I loved it all, and I can say (as a person on their second play through of this game on steam, first one on the switch), I love this game so much and not only will it live in my heart forever, but I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who loves pixel artwork, engaging stories, a story that prioritizes pushing a message of a hope, and a game with pretty great controls (since personally bad controls always make me want to rip my hair out).
