Eastern Block Summer is a hand-drawn, cozy hidden object game set in the nostalgic landscapes of the Eastern European countryside — a world shaped by warm memories, imagination, and old stories that never quite fade.
It’s a place that feels familiar and comforting, yet slightly odd in ways that are hard to explain.
The game is inspired by my childhood summers in the Polish countryside — long days spent outside, quiet afternoons, and moments where boredom turned into imagination.
Those summers were full of stories: half-believed folk tales, playful warnings, and strange creatures that lived more in your head than in the real world. Stories you weren’t sure were true, but never fully dismissed either.
Eastern Block Summer lives in that in-between space — between comfort and curiosity, where reality blends with imagination.
Each level is a hand-drawn, black-and-white illustration of everyday countryside life. Objects are hidden naturally within the environment, as if they were always part of the scene.
As you find them, the illustration slowly fills with color, revealing small details you might have missed at first glance.
You can zoom in and out, explore at your own pace, and take your time with each illustration. The experience is slow and relaxed, rewarding curiosity and attention rather than speed.
Eastern Block Summer uses no text, making it playable in any language. The world communicates through imagery, mood, and detail — much like folk tales passed down through glances, gestures, and half-finished sentences.
If you need help, gentle hints are available, showing how an object appears in the scene without breaking the calm atmosphere.
Eastern Block Summer is created by two people — an illustrator/designer and a developer.
This is our first project, shaped by nostalgia, folk tales, and the belief that childhood memories are never purely innocent — they are strange, beautiful, and sometimes a little frightening.

Polecam pokolorowanie wszystkich poziomów :D ----------------------------------------------------- It may seem like a traditional point-and-click game, but there are a lot of positives: items are difficult to find and don't stand out from the rest of the illustrations, the levels are varied, and the illustrations gain color with each item found. Besides that, the illustrations have an interesting style. Weird - in the best sense of the word ;) And they definitely capture the atmosphere of summer in the countryside. All the mechanics work. They're simple and clear. The menu is picture-based, so there's no language barrier. My only complaint is the monotonous music, but you can turn it down and it blends into the background. I recommend coloring all the levels :D
System podpowiedzi też fajny: poza wskazaniem obszaru, można też zobaczyć sam dokładny wygląd przedmiotu, bo zazwyczaj te podstawowe z listy to takie bardziej ogólne wskazówki typu "znajdź lisa", a faktyczny cel może mieć zupełnie inny kształt.
Very atmospheric and addictive game. I feel the magical vibe of rural Poland !
Extremely nostalgic and cute with some beautiful artwork!
Cosy and cute! Great small game to chill and relax :)
Nice little HO game. Artwork is quirky and stuff generally works. No penalty for mis-clicks and a fairly fast recharging hint function, that you'll probalby need as some of the things to find are small. A bit on the more difficult side and a bit hightly priced for the contents, but a recommendation nontheless.
I really enjoyed this game. The art style is great, and the colours are lovely. Nice gameplay. Just a lovely relaxing vibe.
Interesting. The style of the drawings makes it difficult to immediately recognize certain things.
It IS a cute game! The little items to find can be difficult to spot but there is a hint system. The controls (mouse) are really smooth--you can drag the scene easily and the zoom is quite good. As stated by another, the music can get repetitious--it gets a thumbs down from me but that is my only negative feeling. The illustrations are easy on the eyes and I love how they color in as you find things. All in all I feel I got my money's worth of entertainment and I am happy to support these developers.
A beautiful game filled with Slavic atmosphere hitting all the right notes of nostalgia. Gorgeous and unique hand drawings with non-obvious challenges make it worthwhile.
