In accordance with steam refund I've had to make a decision with a short play time. This review is as of when I played on Oct 17, 2017. = Instructions or tool tips for what cabin icons were about didn't show up. Had to guess what things meant. = Doing a task is boring. So boring I went about in real life doing a few real world chores. That was for a 10 min cutting of wood. God, the 30 min or longer tasks ahead. So apparently the game theory is to make you pass a lot of time watching a slider of % done move along. I used to be paid for doing that on software compiliations or database searches. Not something I think a game should be doing. = Fast Forward was an option at an expense of game resource. In other words if you don't want to sit around watching the slider taking a game penalty. = Bear attack. For something so serious all I could do was read the stages of the fight. No choices. No interaction with me. There could have, should have, been something about what to do. So... I watch a slider slowly fill up then read about major events. Didn't work for me. Rather go off back to UnReal World where you can do so much for tasks and fights are actually you making tactical choices. Felt like the game was meant for those who want to sit and watch rather than interact with a game. Refund request sent.
Frustrating but fun game. The number of bear attacks here is ridiculous. If you are also gonna buy and play this game now, be warned, because the game is sync to real life time, and it's almost winter, even right now in November it's always around -10C degrees everyday. Will still recommend it though, because there is nothing like an immersive experience like this out there.
Nice
BS. Crashes in less than 5 minutes every time.
takes to long time to do any thing in thes game jost waist of mony
never played a game that has fast forward but you can only use it if you have fast forward credits. complete waste of time and money. don't waste yours like i did mine lol
I good shot at a cool concept. Sadly it's awful gameplay, it crashes all the time and doesn't save properly.
(Updated review) I have clocked over 100 hours of gameplay, and although there have been times where this game has been enjoyable, it does just seem like there is too many things that prevent any actual gameplay. I played it today after giving it almost a year's break. It was mid day in-game, and I decided to use my chainsaw to cut down a tree (a 10 minute job) I come back 10 minutes later to find that during my tree felling a bear charged at me and I was unable to shoot it or cut it with my knife - so I suffered wounds and bleeding. Had no choice but to go home and lick my wounds (but the game told me I had to wait 50 minutes because it had been raining and I was soaked and needed my clothes to dry), so thanks to a fast forward option, I got inside and started suturing my wounds to stop the bleeding (a 20+) minute deal - at which time IRL I had to get my head down for a night shift. Several hours later I check on my guy - the bleeding is only halfway treated. So, I try to continue healing myself but the game tells me that I am too cold to do this and I need to light a fire....! I decide to try once again to chainsaw a tree down for some firewood but the game tells me that I can't fell a tree in the dark....! I decide to gather some kindling (mainly as a "ready for tomorrow" kind of deal) - and then a moose decides to charge me (again, I miss with my gun, and just manage to cut its shoulder) I end up with major wounds and more bleeding. I try to get back to the house but once again it tells me I have to wait 50 minutes as I'm soaking wet from the rain! I really REALLY wanted to enjoy this game, and I wanted to have a good few days of trying it out again, but within 6 hours I remember why I stopped playing it. I'm not saying that this game should not be hard at all, but it could seriously do without a few things like waiting for an hour because you're wet, don't make things impossible to do indoors just because it's cold (like reading a book or applying a bandage - I have done both things in a freezing cold house, and it IS possible to do!) I may try playing this game again in another year if they improve some aspects and remove some unnecessary things - I hope they do. But sadly this game is being uninstalled for the time being.
