DYNASTY WARRIORS 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition

Play this game when i was little and it first released for the ps3, when i tell you i finally got it on pc and played it after all those years. I ♥♥♥♥ you not. This game is still so much fun to me highly recomend.

Ladies and gentlemen, I hereby declare this review of Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends to be... in session. So, the Dynasty Warriors series is, as I'm sure you probably know, a series about the player controlling a military commander during the Three Kingdoms period of China, taking on hordes of enemies and completing some objective (usually defeating another commander in battle). There are 62 playable characters in the game, each with their own unique movesets and combos. Some are fun to play as (Diaochan, Guan Yu), others are not (Dong Zhuo, Lu Su), but who's fun and unfun to play as depends entirely on player perspective. So, there are five stories in the game, not counting "Others." There's Wei (led by Cao Cao), Wu (led by the Sun family), Shu (led by Liu Bei), Jin (led by the Sima family), and Lu Bu has his own personal story mode, following the exploits of himself and the people associated with him. Each story has the Historical Route, in which you follow the events that actually happened, but also the Hypothetical Route, which can be unlocked by completing a list of set conditions. The Hypothetical Route details what if each kingdom was the one to unite China. There's also Free Mode, where you can complete already completed levels using whatever character you want, Ambition Mode, where you pick a character and try to gain allies and resources in the hope of impressing the Emperor, and Challenge Mode, where you pick a challenge and try to get a great high score. However, not all diamonds are perfect. There are some flaws with the game, such as the path to unlocking Red Hare (Lu Bu's horse, and the best one in the game) being a long and arduous grind, and the romance between Lu Bu and Diaochan feeling underdeveloped. But what this game, and the series in general, does best is making the leaders of all sides of the war feel humanly complex. This game makes the feud between the Kingdoms of Wei, Wu, and Shu feel like a story in which every kingdom is the protagonist in their own story, unlike the source material (the classic Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms), which portrays Shu as the good guys and Wei and Wu as conniving villains. Well, my péngyǒu (that means "friend" in Mandarin Chinese), hope that convinces you to buy this game.

its one of the best out of these serieses. i wish every edition was available of Dynasty Warriors, Samurai Warriors, and Warriors Orochi.
