This is the kind of game you could have found anytime on a Flash game site. Which is criticism, because most of the content is not free despite this; but it's also a compliment, because there was a lot of charm and silly things in those sites, and that holds for this game too! It's also quite like a mobile game. Which is a criticism, because mobile games often lack depth and good content; but it's also a compliment, because it has a free version you can try out anytime, and you can buy only the parts you care about if you so choose. (Mind you, it doesn't have ads or predatory behavior, else this wouldn't be a compliment at all.) With all that in mind, I have to say don't really love this game. But I do like it. It's just good enough that I enjoy revisiting it periodically as a time-killer, and that's all it needs to be. It's a prototype with just enough content in it to make it fun to spend some time on, and I can't help but respect that. Oh, but one last thing: Optional time limits on arcade mode or a lack of infinite map sizes seem silly at first, but I increasingly find appealing the concept of games including tools to help keep your time spent on them to a healthy number. So in other words, I am 100% starting to get old. But hey, the game has that thing in it, and I do like that thing. (Time limits, that is. Not entropy.)
I bought this game back in 2012, really enjoyed it. Completely forgot about it, then came back to it recently while I was bored scrolling through my games library. Still holds up today, super duper fun! I wish there were more challenge levels, but even the arcade mode has pretty much unlimited replayability.
Dwarfs!? is one of those games that I picked up thanks to Total Biscuit & The Yogscast, never regretted it and played a decent amount. Pretty fun game and can keep you entertained for a while, trying to build up your 'Kingdom' while making sure your dwarves don't Flood the Mines with Lava or Water... ...Or Both.
I picked this up mostly out of curiosity and ended up sinking way more time into it than I expected. You basically babysit a horde of suicidal little dwarves who will happily dig straight into lava or a flood if you blink, so it's your job to steer them, wall things off, and blow holes to drain the danger before it wipes your colony. It's chaotic in a charming way, the music is relaxing, and there's a surprising amount of variety once you dig into the extra modes and difficulties. My only real gripe is that the achievements can be finicky, since a couple wouldn't unlock for me until I messed around with the free version. Still, for a cheap and addictive time killer it's an easy yes, especially on sale.
very fun. never gets old
It's a high score game. That's it. Dwarves roam around and uncover hidden areas which might have a boss, lava, or water. Cut the lava and water off, kill the boss. That's it, you're just trying to get a high score. The score is the driving force as you'll want as many of the dumb miners to be spawned for a higher score, which means more random uncovering of hidden areas. Every single action costs gold which is what you'll need to get a higher score. The UI is not good, menu screen harks back to the old days and is very unclear, the controls are not good.
GUT
