Dungeon Rebound –
4/10 i like the idea pong with wizards on the janky side with menus, game play, everything! no full controller support, cant auto attack solid game if they could improve everything about they could also add local co-op for vs or 2v2
Love the idea, hate the execution of it. In this stage, it's not early access (WHICH ISN'T, doesn't matter that the game mentions it in the end!), it's ALPHA access. Or a shovelware title from the mid 90's. Yeah, six characters to choose from + 3 of their unique weps, but with 3 LEVEL?... I beaten it with all characters in 32 minutes just because I was bad with it. . Hoping that this game evolves soon. Needs upgrades, more levels and some polish. Maybe a weird backstory. Also take out that laughing skull intro from every restart, it's annoying... Then I might change the review later, because I see the potential of this game.
The sound is horrible (just launching the game while watching a video on my other screen gave me a jump scare), the controls are horrible, and the point of the pong part remains a mystery to me
Dungeon Rebound was an unusual attempt to make a hybrid arcade bullet hell/shoot 'em up of sorts, and a lightweight RPG. It fails exceedingly badly at both of these jobs. It's apparent that little to no testing for the game was done, at least on modern gaming PCs. In fullscreen, the game doesn't display properly, with the mouse only moving in the top left hand corner of the viewable space. This is caused by the developer not bothering to ensure the game works on resolutions over 1080p, with very high resolution monitors that use resolution scaling. Because the game area is not drawn correctly, it doesn't map to the mouse pointer properly, so the game itself simply cannot be played. You can't choose which character to use, so beginning the game is impossible on high end gaming rigs. Gamers shouldn't be forced to accept defective products just because developers don't bother with basic testing on PC. Despite not being in Steam Early Access (where this arguably belongs), the game is missing features and is apparently incomplete. Due to the lack of meaningful progress from the developer, it's unlikely the game will be completed at all, yet the developers reprehensively have their hand out for money for an incomplete game. This is a good reason for gamers to avoid this. From a technical perspective, besides the way the game can't even launch for modern gamers, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game features somewhat lazy, simplistic "retro" looking 2D graphics, and it's hard to say if this is due to the age of the assets used, if it's a deliberate attempt for the game to look bad/retro on purpose, or if the assets are just, well, terrible looking. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game in 2024, such poor quality 2D graphics in the 3D era just aren't good enough, whether it's a deliberate design fault on behalf of the developer or they just couldn't manage to do any better, this is a compromise gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. Some of the defects in the game can be attributed to the choice of using the GameMaker Studio construction kit/toolset. This is a very poor quality toolset favoured by amateur developers as it's cheap and requires little in the way of development skill, but unfortunately has very limited capabilities. Just as you can't make a silk purse out of a sows ear, you can't make a great video game if you use a terrible engine. GameMaker Studio is most commonly used to make retro pixel shovelware and cash grabs. A strong argument can be made that construction kits like GameMaker Studio should never be used to make games for profit, as the "developer", DeathWishGames has done here. These construction kits are intended to teach people some of the basic principles of game development, and to make small demos to pass around with friends. They're not intended to replace to actual work of real, professional game developers. So it's inappropriate when amateurs try to use these for profit, without any actual, real game development effort taking place. This doesn't result in products that have any real meaningful value for gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the game all-time peak player count was only ONE player. That's right, only one person ever played this at a time. When I played this for the purposes of reviewing it, I equalled the peak player count for the game. OUCH. The only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Because the game is broken and unplayable for me, it may also not work for other gamers. This is a solid reason to approach this game with some scepticism. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Dungeon Rebound is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 11,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Play here: https://youtu.be/vX_TLPvd0vQ It's actually pretty promising, but waaayyy too early access this is more of a demo than what I would consider early access. I would love to see some unlocks and more abilities/boss fights, but as it is now you can clear the game in about 3 minutes. I'm also not sure why the enemies towers shoot stuff and mine don't shoot stuff. I feel like it would be better if the player and the enemy had an evenish playing field where the enemies have attack abilities more like the player instead of the weak stuff they have now, but both the player and the a.i have a way to counter each others attacks like the little melee spells that block tower shots and hits the pong ball, but more of a counter spell for both sides to make it more intense and skill based. Unlocks, achievements, a longer game and some tweaks and this would be a blast. I'm recommending on potential not for the game as is, because honestly I think it's too short for even .79 cents.
左右弹射塔防游戏。 目前是非常初期的DEMO。 载入速度很慢。 WD上下移动极其反人类。
关注我们 甄游组 第一印象 免费游戏
