Hi, I Just wanted to say I recommend this game and I like it a lot, and I hope if you give it a try that you will like it too. okay well that's all I wanted to say so...goodbye : )
Pretty nice game. Not really long 3-4 hour, but funny. Lots of monster to use. Ending was realy cool. Some extra rare bugs i meet: 1) 1) heroes just stop moving at dungeon after they kill monsters, load previous day fixes that. 2) Mage get crited out of dungeon entrance and barely able to kill monster who also cant hit him and then proceed normaly. I honestly think game have 2 problem: A) Spike difficulty after hero, If you unable to increase evolution of you monsters at C and heighter you probably get killed next heros wave. B) Hp of tanks pretty low, especially with damage at hign rank heroes and monsters, it almost no difference be there 3 or 4 stike to tanks, or 2-3 to DD monster who deal much heighter damage.
I don't feel like there was enough for the price tag of the game. The concept is brilliant, but it honestly feels like Early Access and I was sad to realize there was no more. I feel like if this is fleshed it could really be a fantastic game. In it's current state tho at the current price I do not think it's worth it.
Dungeon Origins is a sincerely made 2D retro pixel Unity based hybrid of a tower/soldier defense game and a dungeon builder. There's a simple but quirky plot as the great hero of the kingdom (you) are betrayed and to take your revenge on the king you decide to build a dungeon from whence to strike down your betrayers. Fair enough. Gameplay consists of two phases. First, you spend your resources building out your dungeon and filling it will traps and monsters. This is less of a pure dungeon builder and more like a tower defense where you get to lay out the path the enemies will follow. The second phase is the main "tower" defense part as adventurers come into your dungeon and hopefully your defenses are good enough to stop them. You get a couple of active abilities as well like letting your monsters explode when they die for a short time, or reducing enemy attacks. The gameplay is deepened by a progression system as you can evolve your monsters and so on. The richness of the game design is very welcome. It's really a solid concept for a game but it's let down in the usual ways. A choice was made to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution is locked and can't be changed, and there's no visual or graphics tweaks, so there's no way to improve the very lazy, mediocre visuals. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for many differently-abled gamers. The interface itself is lacking and not completely intuitive, compounded by the clunky pixel "art". These aren't even limitations of the game engine, because Unity is capable of far better. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. So we have a great concept with deep technical flaws that render this unrecommendable. But we also must consider that games don't exist in a vacuum. There's an eye watering $10 USD for this, and for a quarter of the price you can get Evil Genius, which is the same general idea but with AAA production quality. Kingdom Rush has been as cheap as $1 and while being a tablet port, it's vastly superior to this. Heck, EA gives Dungeon Keeper away for free sometimes if that's the theme you're looking for. If developers want to make products that compel gamers to play them, they need to do better than the competition, and not rely on crutches like hoping pixel "art" will induce enough nostalgia to cover up their deficiencies.
Absolute F'ing GEM of a game. I love base builders and quite frankly there are not enough Dungeon Builders. I can't say anything bad about it besides I WANT MOAR! Great Job I Cant Wait for your next title.
