About
Since then, countless moons have passed...
As people wove generations together,
she quietly continued to fulfill her duty.
But at last, the time came, and the silence was broken.
Old and weary, she gathered her last strength
and spread her wings to find out the hero...
Dungeon Antiqua 2 is a 2D dungeon hack-and-slash RPG featuring SNES-style pixel art and sound.
A retro-flavored adventure awaits you, blending strategic exploration with a highly flexible character building system.
§ Exploration
Players will explore six dungeons, navigating with a unique system where visibility of corridors and enemies depends on the character’s “vision".
Dungeon Antiqua 2 uses a symbol encounter system—you can avoid battles by dodging enemies, or strike first and take the initiative. The path forward is yours to carve through skill and decision-making!
§ System
In addition to the eight jobs from the previous game, two new classes—Monk and Archer—have been added, bringing the total to ten.
Earn skill points from victorious battles; once they reach the required threshold, you’ll unlock job-specific skills.
Since changing jobs does not reset level, you can freely experiment with multiple jobs to create your own ultimate party!
note: Five jobs are available at the start of the game. The remaining five types will become available as you progress through the game.
§ Concept
Sometimes, why not take a step back and return to the cartridge era of gaming?
By stripping away excessive story cutscenes and focusing on short, simple dialogue and text, the world is designed to spark your imagination—inviting you to create your own personal adventure.
§ Playtime
For a first playthrough, we estimate a playtime of approximately 10-12 hours.
This game takes place hundreds of years after the story of Dungeon Antiqua.
You may even come across some familiar characters from the previous game…
Save data from the demo can be transferred to the full version.
On standard PCs (Windows/Mac), the save data files themselves are shared. Therefore, if you launch the full version after playing the demo, you can continue playing from where you left off in the demo.
For certain environments like Steam Deck, after launching the game, select “Inherit Data” > “Backup Save data” from the menu in the upper-right corner. Choose the data from after clearing the trial version to obtain a 6-digit code. Then, in the full version, select “Inherit Data” > “Restore Save data” and enter the obtained 6-digit code to transfer the save data.
Your download also includes an executable file for certain handheld consoles (see the official website for details).
From Settings > Manage > Browse Local Files, locate dungeon-antiqua2.pyxapp and transfer it to your device.
Very fun little RPG
Fun and grindy time. Great game to chill with if JRPGs spark your fancy.
For a particular type of person, this could well be a top 5 game, I'm serious I know, I know, it's one of a million retro RPGs us gen Xer's can pick to relive the decade owned by the SNES. Half Wizardry, half FF. What's the big deal? Well, do you find yourself mashing through the text and having no patience at all for being lost in a world map? Got you covered. Do you enjoy grinding but get sick of healing on the pause screen? Yeah, there's a single button for that. Do you like farming late game gear with a low drop rate but a payoff that makes you glad you did it? Base stat boots come from mastering each class, so while you absolutely don't have to, maxing out your party is rewarding! The game's not perfect- there's one "guide-dang-it" moment in story progression that's pretty aggressively bad... but it doesn't lock you out of anything (after a patch, thanks for listening to feedback Dev) and if you care, you can easily see it on the discussion pages before you get that deep into the game. There's an enemy that drops great XP but has a high chance to run away (I always hate those) Honestly if you're the sort of person who will love this game, you probably already know. What are you waiting for?
A nice, polished improvement. I like the job appearance and name customization even after selection, and how the fairy is optional and not intrusive. Story is light and how I prefer to play immediately. You can also auto heal after battle.
If, like me, you are a sicko who loves the JRPG mechanic of leveling jobs to mix and match abilities so that you can ultimately create a party of four barefisted Priests one-shotting everything in sight, just buy the game. Combat is snappy and intuitive, dungeons are varied and not too big, and bosses present some fun varied challenges. I came to this straight after the first game and started on Hard--it gave me a pleasant challenge for the first half of the game and then it leveled out. Overall I would say this game was easier than DA1, and the post-game is less punishing. The soundtrack includes a lot of cute homages to the game's obvious inspirations. It's definitely a love letter. I reached 100% in about 15 hours, and that included maxing out my party just for fun. You could also opt to continue leveling via NG+ Highly recommend
