Duncan and The Wisp is a quick game that I, overall, enjoyed playing. You can expect about an hours worth of gameplay from this title, which is not bad for a free game that was created as a student project. It's definitely worth the try. Pros- Most characters (Player, NPC, Most Enemies) are awesome in both artistic design and personality. Control scheme is intuitive. The world is a colorful environment that matches the theme and tone of the title. Have not encountered any game-breaking bugs as of yet. Strong storyline that makes sense and is easy to follow. Cons- When you're walking next to a tall building you get some wall clipping. A camera that allows for movement around obstacles, or shrinking the buildings to below the camera perspective would be recommended. I've noticed at some points that the death animations are not triggering properly and the attack animations do not seem fluid. The skeleton enemies seem very generic. All in all I would say this game is definitely worth the play if you're looking for something casual to pass the time for a small while.
(ツ)_/¯ Duncan and the Wisp

I realy like it! you can play it!
Having played the first few minutes, I can say that it's a pretty well made free game; decent graphics, cute world setting (anthropomorphic talking mice), and a straightforward plot (collect all 4 elements to defeat the 5th, 'Shadow'). Criticisms; 1) The slow text speed just drags on and on. It'd be nice to see an option for this, even if it's just 'slow/fast'. 2) Speech bubbles often appear all over screen, and when you're as impatient as I am, it can be bothersome to read each bubbles name plate. It'd be better to have the speech bubbles appear over the speaking character, or all at the bottom of the screen. 3) Remove spacebar from the equation all together, left-mouse click should move dialogue along. 4) The text itself was very block-y and cartoon-y, I assume to keep with the overall theme of the game. But it'd be nice to see a different font used, or an option. 5) Camera angle. This can make traversing over long distances bothersome, if not impossible. At one point, I wanted to see what was at the end of a road without having to travel all the way there, but couldn't due to the static camera angle. If the angle was positioned behind and above the MC (main character), that'd be better. As far as actual game play goes, my graphics card definitely needs an upgrade, so that may have caused some of my issues. But; 6) The targeting mechanic seemed a bit wonky. I found myself repeatedly moving my character out of battle, when I intended to select a nearby enemy for melee. This could be fixed by rebinding movement to arrow keys or WASD, as is instinctual for most computer games. 7) Lack of things to interact with. I wandered around the village a bit, before getting on with the plot, and found that street signs and doors couldn't be interacted with. I understand that, for a free game, I shouldn't expect much. But the nature of the game led me to believe there'd be hidden items to be collected. 8) The first dungeon- Temple of the Ancients. I expected this to be much larger than it actually was, with small puzzles to solve, rooms containing different types of enemies, etc. 9) The story/dialogue felt a bit rushed, like I was forced into some kind of "speed run"; No time to chit chat, take the offering up the mountain! I'm your new Na'Vi, HEY LISTEN! Oh, you're the chosen one? Didn't expect that, okay, time to run headlong into danger!" ... Try slowing things down a bit. More dialogue pertaining to things like world history, magic, the elements, the shadow, and the towns peoples general amazement that *this slacker* is the *chosen one*, would all go a long way to enhance the experience. In closing; I've just opened up the first portal, after escaping the Temple of the Ancients. I might go back and play some more, if I'm bored. Might not. But the changes I've listed would go a long way in enhancing the game. Thanks.
It is really good, but may be I just cannot understand how to range those stone in the last temple???
Pretty sure I've already finished the game, but it was a very fun quick play to get me into this style of game. A great simple bit of fun, and really well made considering it was made by some students. Be sure to download this game!
Pros: + Great soundtrack; I think it's taken from other games but the tracks were chosen well + Simple yet detailed art style + Adorable animal characters + Feels like a homage to The Legend of Zelda in some ways + Story/motive is simple but good + Dialogue is well written and made me like the characters more + The combat isn't great but it's not bad either, it just kind of works +
Surprising and dark ending
Cons: - Randomly got frozen in place and had to quit to the main menu; this happened multiple times. My guess is that the character got stuck in a text box despite those being gone - Camera clipping into buildings/walls/etc - Some npc's got stuck running in place - No environment volume setting - Only the first part of text boxes shows up left to right; the rest spawns from the middle which can be confusing - Not being able to use your mouse to advance conversations but using spacebar instead - I could often just skip enemies entirely I found this game by chance and I'm glad I did. Despite the lack of polish, it was quite good and fun to play which is great considering it was free.
Story makes it enjoyable if you are patient, I like how they tried to adjust as much as they could. I would only advice the devs & designers to be more careful with play testing the game. There are some minor clippings when you are near larger or taller buildings/objects and sometimes the FPS drops. Overall ok.
Really not bad for a free title. I felt like the game could have been more challenging though as most challenges can be circumvented with simple kiting and the elemental summon can basically be abused to win the most engagements. That being said though it was still a pretty solid experience. One of the biggest shining points of the game was the music. It feels like a lot of love went into the sound track. That ending though...
Duncan and The Wisp genel olarak oynamaktan keyif aldığım hızlı bir oyundur. Bir öğrenci projesi olarak oluşturulan ücretsiz bir oyun için hiç de fena olmayan bu oyundan yaklaşık bir saat sürecek bir oyun bekleyebilirsiniz. Kesinlikle denemeye değer.
