Drops of Death

If you're looking for a compelling crime story with depth... this isn't it. The writing is simple, the investigation feels like it was written by people who don't know how investigations work and for some characters, motives seem a little shaky. I laughed so hard when they [spoiler] made Adrian, a witness who only saw a hooded figure, do a police lineup. How can they determine a suspect when they never saw a face!? [/spoiler] Still, the romance aspect is cute and fun, and I did find myself sitting on the edge of my seat after making somewhat difficult choices. The ending felt a bit abrupt, but I guess that's because the killer was someone I wasn't really investing time in. I REALLY love the ability to select the killer after completing one random run, though. Also, don't expect to do any real mystery solving. Everything in the "evidence" tab is just achievements and it seems the mystery will unfold whether you aid the investigation or sort of hinder it like I did. In conclusion, if you're just looking for a cute romance game with some dark elements, I recommend it. If you're looking for Disco Elysium-tier writing, maybe pass this up.

Cute game, I like the random selection element to it in regards to the killer. That makes the game feel a lot more fun and engaging. If you like dating sims and true crime this is one to check out

After my first playthrough, I was about to give Drops of Death a negative review. I thought it was a terrible murder mystery. You don't get to do any investigation -- the "clues" you find are just achievements that don't affect the story. Your actions affect very little, apart from picking one of the four routes -- only at the very end, when the mask is off, you can make choices that decide the ending. And while dating a character when they're guilty is different from the innocent route, there's no way to see the difference on your first playthrough. Pretty bad for a murder mystery, right? Then I played it again and realized that I was unfair judging Drops of Death as a murder mystery, since it wasn't one. Instead, it's a dating sim with murder as the plot device, and random choice of the culprit serving as an additional gimmick so that you can ever know if you're dating the murderer. As a dating sim, Drops of Death is pretty nice. And if you're looking for an actual investigation game with randomized culprits, try Gnosia instead.

Such a fantastic games! Short and sweet but each play through allows for opportunity to see different lines alterations and behaviors for different characters and seeing the different route when romancing them mixed with familiar soundtracks! A pleasant time to enjoy!

I really enjoyed it! Interesting plot with different endings. i think the way everything was formatted was well-done. One of the more engaging visual novel stories! :)

I’ve only played one route so far but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was second guessing my romantic choice all the way up to the final scene. 10/10 ready to possibly fall in love with a killer again

I have done two playthroughs of this game and I had fun each time. I love the aspect of not knowing who the killer is. I haven't accidentally dated one YET, but I'm trying lol. I love the art and I do like the ability to have different body types and pronouns. I do think Adrien lacks common sense which can be frustrating. It sucks the few times you are able to act with common sense through choices, the love interests can get upset. I also think the killer reveals are un even. Minor spoilers below: [spoiler]My first playthrough, I romanced Fawn and Edwin was the killer. It made sense and it felt cohesive. My second playthrough, I romanced Edwin and Singh was the killer. The reveal felt rushed and I still don't know why he killed the swimmers.[/spoiler] I still think it's very much worth playing it. Despite my critiques I'm excited to play again to romance both Natasha and Singh!

Eu estou na Steam já faz um tempo, escrevo algumas reviews de vez em quando e essa é a primeira vez que o botão de sim ou não me confunde. No final, eu escolhi que não, não vale a pena. É um jogo indie, e por ser indie, você precisa fazer umas concessões. Os personagens estão fora de modelo, as imagens de fundo não são consistentes, coisas assim. Incômodo, mas se fosse só isso, não teria clicado no não. O problema é que ele é ambicioso demais e não entrega. O tchan do rolê é que os quatro LIs podem ser os assassinos, que pode ser aleatório ou você pode escolher o culpado antes de começar a jogar. O inimigo está ao lado e tal. Só que... Isso é muito ruim, cara! Primeiro que, com exceção da Natasha, ninguém tem um bom motivo para cometer os assassinatos e, exceto ao Edwin, nenhum dos enredos cruza com questões particulares e específicas a Adrien. O PERSONAGEM PRINCIPAL não tem nada a ver com a maioria da história. Ademais, uma história sobre um assassinato em que todos os personagens podem e não podem ser o assassino faz o enredo parecer vazio. Sabe, parece Assassinato no Expresso do Oriente, mas escrito por uma pessoa que passa tempo demais ouvindo podcast de true crime e não refletindo e praticando o gênero mistério. É difícil de fazer um twist desses funcionar, é por isso que Agatha Christie é tão admirada. Eu imagino que os produtores quiseram evitar pontos negativos em títulos como Nicole, que tem sempre o mesmo culpado. É uma piada na comunidade, mas eu aconteço de gostar de Nicole, então naturalmente eu fico ressabiada com Drops of Death. Não acho que um otome/amare misturado com mistério é algo impossível de se fazer direito, mas esse jogo não acertou a mão. Pode até valer a tentativa, posso até recomendar em circunstâncias específicas, mas não faz meu gênero. Por isso, meu voto é não.

This is a fun and unique idea. I enjoyed my first playthrough and plan on exploring more of the options in the future.

I didn't think I'd enjoy this all that much but I am hooked!
