Cute visual novel, I recommend it to you :) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3457146457 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3457146289 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3457145637
Overall, I felt that this game was simply just okay. It doesn't really stand out much, and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, it just had very little appeal to me overall. The storytelling was very simple and felt somewhat halfheartedly put together. There were minimal choices given to the player, making it feel more like you were watching the story happen like in a comic rather than being involved yourself. Simply put, it doesn't feel like an otome at all. The only real decision you get to make is at the beginning when Alto is saved. I think that more world-building is definitely needed, and the characters feel a little one dimensional. I wish there was more depth in all of the characters, especially when it comes to the trio of Alto, Sol, and Ellys since they're all childhood best friends. Without any explanations to many of the situations in the story, it just seems very predictable and rather stereotypical. The sprites were definitely a better part of the game, the quality was very nice. I wish that the artist had carried over into the CG art, because, to put it lightly, there is a very stark difference between them. Overall I wouldn't really recommend.

SUPER!!!
Of Frost and Flowers is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. This Choose Your Own Adventure e-book is square in the middle of what we should expect from your average high school anime club dropout fan-fiction, and to make sure it's packed to the limits with cringe, it's all about the author's favourite subject, his imaginary girlfriend/waifu. Visual novels/e-books are tedious at best... imagine the best novel you ever read, be that Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or 2001: A Space Odyssey or Twilight (if you have terrible taste in literature), but then translate that to a format where the words dribble out and you have to click your mouse every time you wanted to read the next sentence, instead of just turning the pages. You'd think it was garbage. Now imagine that experience, but with much worse writing (because if these guys could write professionally, they'd be published authors and this would be on shelves in bookstores, and they wouldn't have to pay Valve $100 to self-publish this on Steam), and you have your average Steam e-book. One of the chief problems with failed authors polluting Steam with non-game E-books is that E-books can easily just be presented in a web browser... there's no justification for charging money on Steam for what might as well be a webpage. We don't spend thousands on buying a gaming rig to spend money on Steam for something Chrome or Firefox could do. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the e-book peaked at only 5 concurrent readers... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. The funny thing is, if you wanted to print this book, you'd only need to print 5 copies to satsify the entire world's demand for it. While this E-book is "free", you can get better quality, professionally written books and comics for free online (from places like Project Gutenberg) or from public libraries. Steam isn't a comic book store, neither is it Netflix, it's for games. Your gaming rig is not a Kindle. It's impossible for me to recommend things to PC gamers that aren't really games.
Hmmm... this is a very underwhelming for a visual novel. Sure, the artwork is okay but this is the first game I've played where the bonus scenes are drawn more poorly than when you see your character in the UI.... The choices don't feel like they really matter. It seems poorly rushed and is laughable. I just skipped most of the dialogue and only stayed for Misha. The author clearly favours Sol, the childhood friend of Alto (the MC), which is apparent by how many more scenes/dialogue he has. The background characters/gods in Sol's route has no value. Like their characters are drawn nice but nothing actually happens? The lore in this game is so bad as well, I wish the author did more with the snow people, did more with Frosty and developed their writing skills more.

actually super cute game! love love<3
This game was something else. I waited to post this review until after I had viewed all the game's content, and made sure I unlocked every achievement. It's the reason I have 8.6 hours on my account. Now then, to start: I have always loved otome games and visual novels, and I believe this game intertwines the two seamlessly, creating a boundless story of danger, surprises, mild violence, and chaos. It really is a masterfully crafted game, I just only wish there was more content. Alto sounds a lot like me. Not only is she a young adult, but she was very tomboyish as a kid, and got in fights a lot. She was more often seen as a boy than a girl, which happened a lot to me when I was young too. She
doesn't realize she's being hit on in Al'Sharah in Kisha's route
, and is overall just very clumsy. I wish some of these didn't resonate so well with me, but they do. In addition, my username is often truncated to just "alto," which doesn't help matters. (It was a username I chose long ago, before I knew this game existed) Aside from that, out of all
5
routes, I would have to say I liked
Sol's
the best. Sure, the childhood friend trope is overused and honestly not that exciting, but certain game events, like
them playfully teasing each other and the water fight at the en
really made me remember my own childhood and the happy memories associated with it.
My 18th birthday party also ended in some sort of a water fight, so that scene especially brought out some emotions.
I can understand why this game may not be received positively by some individuals. The game's content can be lacking, the CG art style is definitely far from the best I've seen, and some of the routes are really easy to follow, and surprises can be seen from miles away. However, despite these mild problems, I found myself thoroughly invested in the game, waiting to see what happened next. I thank the developers for not only creating this masterpiece, but also making it free to play. I enjoyed finding a protagonist that I could easily imprint myself onto, and I would thoroughly recommend this game to anyone who comes across it. Updated to edit spoiler tags, as I have never used them before.
Good game to waste your evening on 6 / 10 The story is quite interesting, but the narrative is overblown: I swear I can comprise most of it in mere sentences without loosing anything significant The art is of various quality: some CGs made me cry tears of blood, for instance The logic is solid: the link between choices and consequences is rather obvious I don't like wining though, and other elements of narrative. So, I skipped most of it. By the end my had truly got tired 0-0 Nevertheless, I haven't missed anything of importance in the process. So, I stand my point regarding the overblown narrative.
