About
Drone Sector fuses the gunship close air support role with the drone's observation and mission command. Inspired by the real-life AC-130 gunship and MQ-9 Reaper drone, it merges these powerful roles in a futuristic setting, where advanced technology and heavier firepower enable you to take on more complex and dangerous missions. While not a pure military simulator, the focus remains on tactical planning and execution, with greater flexibility in mission design and weaponry.
Guide your squads as they advance through hostile environments to achieve mission objectives. Command with precision, helping them avoid traps and eliminating high-priority threats with your overwhelming firepower. Outnumbered by enemy forces, you’ll need to maximize your technological superiority to turn the tide.
During each mission, you’ll need to make strategic decisions about resource gathering. Send your ground squads into buildings or key areas to collect vital resources and research documents—but this comes with risk. Stay too long, and you may lose your squad to overwhelming enemy forces. Decide when to extract and when to push your luck for valuable rewards.
Between missions back at base, upgrade your gunship, squads, and weapons. Manage your ammo production and research new technologies to improve your chances in the field.

So far its a very well executed gunship game but it needs more progression and hopefully a interesting story for the campaign mode. they could take inspiration from HighFleet and add some more encounters and make the base you operate out of a target that could be discovered if you had too high of detection.
This is fun! Watched Splattercat play this and decided to give it a try.
drone sector is absolute kino. solves the overarching issue of the gunship genre: motivations without incentives, ends without means, product without process, violence without reason. drone sector gives you a reason. it gives you a tech tree. it limits your resources, ammunition, fuel, health, ground units, lives, all well and good. constraints give way to innovation, satisfaction, experimentation. we all want to blow things up, that's nice, but what happens when that's the only justification? it gets boring, quickly. drone sector makes you turn on your brain. now you're considering if the next mission will allow you to get the upgrade you're looking for. allow you to make enough ammo to get through the next op. juggling your ground units while you're icing a dozen infantry a second, screening smoke along their flank, railing a hostile 90 mike mike mobile gun system to keep them safe. the satisfaction ramps in the end game. there's still the danger, the building odds against you, and letting loose with everything you've l(earned). the tiny, peripheral tactical ops, probing attacks and desperate raids for precious materials turn into you, the looming threat, the dark cloud drifting over the AO, while ground element stages just outside the impending slaughterhouse. all the enemy knows is a dozen dozen reports of a sector getting flattened by drone CAS and an infantry detachment they've never seen in anything but grainy footage, or the aftermath, picking through the detritus of brigade strength massacres, trying to find out what's left. nothing. one day, that wrong feeling, not quite anything other than a gnawing in the back of their head, some impending dread, waiting just out of sight. i'm just the messenger. soon enough, that cloud brings the rain. they'll get their turn beneath the drone sector.
p.s. this was written in version 0.2-0.21 early access. this is how good the game is when it's not even finished. buy the game. shamelessly shilling. buy this game. support the dev. beautiful soul doing beautiful work. buy the game. it's good. buy drone sector. buy it. the wrath of God needs a vessel, the drone needs a pilot, the opps need a closed casket, and you're just the messenger. you judge not their fate, it has been decided. pull the trigger, let them meet their Lord in heaven to be judged in however many pieces you want to send them. soldier of God, war is my game, and Lord, i am having fun playing it.
If you liked the Gunship missions from the CoD games then this game is everything you want and more. Being able to control ground troops(who can actually kill ♥♥♥♥ quite well on their own without your help) adds another layer to the game. The tech tree is well done. Good game overall, if i didn't receive it as a gift for my bday i would gladly have paid for it.
