DROD: Gunthro and the Epic Blunder

I played through the whole series before it came onto Steam, hence the low hours in the game. With that being said DROD continues to be a major hidden gem of a puzzle series. Gunthro and the Epic Blunder is essentially a prequel to the DROD storyline, and a nicely balanced and fleshed out introduction into the series. This game also serves to contain all the other previous games released in the form of DLC - except for The Second Sky - which is the current final entry in the DROD series. King Dugan's Dungeon is the original and the most aged entry in the series, the storyline is barebones but should still be played if you crave more puzzles and classic level designs. If a heavier story is what you wish you can skip on to Journey to Rooted Hold and continue on with The City Beneath. Finally the Second Sky (standalone game) can be played to conclude the storyline. Smitemaster's Selection DLC's offer even more official level packs if you still need more brain teasers. As another reviewer mentioned a recent and massive player collaboration designed dungeon by the name of [url=https://forum.caravelgames.com/viewtopic.php?TopicID=46328] The Descent of King Hesper [/url] was released. It is an enormous collection of levels and puzzles and frankly should be enough to tide us over until the next DROD installation.

Very old puzzle games that I've been playing on and off for many years and I would recommend to anyone who enjoys relaxing with puzzles. The puzzles are turn-based and has a good amount of different enemies, all of which acts in unique but predictable ways, making it a very satisfying experience to master their unique movements and reactions to your characters movements. Their official forums also come with threads for every room(puzzle) with usually very good spoilered hints to nudge you as little or much as you may need to progress if you are feeling stuck.

This game managed to keep me engaged throughout its entire runtime. While a few puzzles feel unnecessarily tedious, the puzzle quality was surprisingly high and consistent. One gripe I have is how annoying it is to find the [spoiler]secret rooms[/spoiler], especially post-game where you're trying to hunt all of them down, since it boils down to "[spoiler]can you spot the faint crack in the wall[/spoiler]".

Very clever puzzle game with incredible depth to it, it encourages you to learn every nitty gritty detail of the core mechanics. Strong recommend for anyone who likes Baba is You or other sokoban-style games, even though this one is less box-pushy and more fighty.

Unlike any puzzle game I've played. While it plays quite differently from sokoban style games, it requires the same kind of thinking, and requires some truly clever outside-the-box problem solving.

If you have never tried DROD, you're missing out. In addition to the main games there are (approximately) one quadrillion user-made levels which are mostly worth playing. For the price of this game you're getting hundreds if not thousands of hours of gameplay.
