About
PLEASE NOTE: STEAM DECK - NOT COMPATIBLE
Please note this game is not tested nor optimized for the Steam deck. We'd love to eventually support it, and even though the steam page says "compatible", we're officially saying it's not.
We don't control that tag on the page, it's set by Valve, and as much as we'd love to devote time to officially supporting it, our priorities are on making the game top notch on PC for now. Thank you for understanding.

Dragonhold is a mission-based dragon riding ARPG. Take on dangerous excursions across the war-torn Azarkeen region, fighting on dragonback and on foot to seize loot and relics. Then extract back to your castle island, where you expand your town, craft gear, and upgrade your warriors for the next run.
Each mission is a risk–reward run: push deeper for better rewards, or extract early to secure what you’ve found. Play fully solo or team up in online co-op; your progress and castle carry across both.
Dragonhold is NOT always online. You can run a dedicated server yourself for free, the files are on steam.
Ride and fight on dragons – Soar over battlefields, strafe enemies with fire, then dive into brutal close-quarters combat as a dragon rider.
Mission-based extraction loop – Choose your mission, hunt for loot and materials, then extract safely or risk going deeper.
Rebuild Dragonhold castle – Restore a ruined stronghold and surrounding town; unlock vendors, crafting stations, and new progression systems as you rebuild.
Craft and upgrade – Forge weapons, armor, and arcane relics. Grow your dragon’s power and your own build with skills and gear.
Bosses and elite encounters – Take on challenging bosses both on dragonback and on foot, learning patterns and coordinating with allies.

Take to the skies on a mighty dragon and unleash fiery attacks on your enemies. Explore a vast enchanted realm and save the people of Azarkeen. Unleash deadly abilities and magical powers to prevent a corrupt holy war spreading across the world. Restore the balance in spectacular third-person action in solo or multiplayer modes.
Dragonhold is fully playable solo from start to finish – you don’t need other players or a constant online population to progress.
You can:
Play offline / privately
Host your own dedicated server
Or join other servers from the community.
Co-op is there if you want it; the entire experience can be enjoyed as a single-player ARPG.

Are you ready to become a member of the legendary Boundless Order, harnessing the power of dragons and etching your name into the annals of history? Your destiny awaits in Dragonhold.

tried to play this game with friends and wouldnt load us in game together even tho we were in fireteam also would freeze while joining servers game also has no clear objectives on map will let it sit in library until flushed out
The game has a lot of potential. There are some hicups but it is early access. As a solo player thus far, I have enjoyed the game. There is a challenge to the game, but once you get used to the mechanics, you can successfully solo raids. Been waiting for a decent dragon game and this one ticks a lot of the boxes, go out and get loot, hoard loot and get rich slowly... The combat is still a tad basic, been playing as a knight, will try one of the other classes once I max out my current character... But even with basic combat, the game is still enjoyable. The raids atm mostly take place on one large island with different card modifiers that change the weather, you starting and exact paths... There's also cards that change the quest you take on and the bounty that you can complete. As for the map itself, there's lots to explore, there are dungeons, as well as other to-dos... For an early access game, it performs well. I have been playing nonstop for more than 8 hours, and I have not had a single crash did restart once, but that's because I have Chrome running for YouTube alongside ten other browser windows. As I mentioned, there's potential, and I hope to see more content for the game.
There are quite a few dragon games on steam/in development in 2026, and out of all of them this is the ONE. It's way way way ahead of its competitors. Everything currently has voice actors, cutscenes, and FULLY functional PVE. Fortress building with plans for free building, and missions with NO TIMERS, aka, zoned open world experiences that just work lol (really a genius move on the dev teams part). There are ecosystems worth of creatures, fully functional quests/bosses, a progression system, and a skill ceiling for the current mechanics. All in all, if you're looking for a game with dragons that lets you do more than fly around in a glorified chat sim, this is the one!
если прям делать нех... можно и поиграть...
This game simply was not for me. I played for about an hour before deciding to refund it. I may be missing something, but the combat felt unresponsive and unsatisfying. The gear and customization options also seemed very limited. Ultimately, there was no compelling hook, and I did not find the experience enjoyable.
Do not buy Dragonhold if you are expecting to play with friends. One month before 1.0 and there are no options for peer to peer connection. Dedicated servers are the only way to play with others, but there are not any official servers. At the time, all of the dedicated servers were password protected. The only server that was not password protected was in Asia, giving me a decently high ping. We attempted to connect but gave up after about five minutes of loading, which playing by myself, took about thirty seconds. The game itself seemed pretty fun, perhaps a bit of jank, but for me, this was a deal-breaker. If nothing else it got me to question what the priorities were, what would come in 1.0, and how long this game would last. Response edit: Beyond assuming that I missed it, and personally believing that installing a server tool and port forwarding is a bit more involved than a few button clicks, there are quite a few things that would prevent someone from doing this. I would like to specifically point out the two instances on the store page where it says there are freely provided official dedicated servers, which there are not.
-------------- TL;DR: Great concept, stale/lackluster execution, lacking true soul. Could be great given several years and plenty of funding. I truly wish Dragonhold good luck, but I ended up regretting my purchase. ------------- I've purchased plenty of early access games, many quite rough around the edges, and there's usually *something* about the games which secures my confidence in what their updates will bring to the game in the next few years. This one I've actually gone ahead and requested a refund for. It's difficult to put exactly into words why Dragonhold didn't secure my confidence. There's truly a great concept at its heart, but it feels even more like a prototype than an early access product. Some amount of soul seems to be missing. I'm guessing the voice over is done with A.I.? That may be part of why the game feels so "off". The music and SFX felt a bit generic, sorcerer in particular suffered from that one as combat ended up feeling thoroughly unengaging. The tutorial was pretty heavily expository, oddly leaving me feeling more disconnected than drawn into the game world. It rather gave me the impression that there may be passion for the gameplay, but there's just a randomly generated batch of fantasy names wrapped around it. That may be far from the truth, but I'm just trying to get at how odd the results of the tutorial story experience felt. The gameplay itself is pretty simple - "easy to play, difficult to master" is a great game design philosophy so no complaints there. That could be a strength in the long run. But, as mentioned previously the current VFX/SFX particularly for the sorcerer did not leave me eager for more gameplay. The ability to join a friend through steam or invite a specific friend to play together is not currently in the game - it looks like that's part of the roadmap for the future. That is particularly unfortunate in my case as I bought this specifically to play with somebody who has always wanted to play a dragon rider type game. We weren't interested in buying a private server for a game we're just trying for the first time and our experience using the public realm didn't inspire much interest in continuing. There really is a great concept at heart, but it feels more like something that's meant to be presented to bigger studios for heavy development. I would 3-6 years more before this game approaches its potential. True, the game's price is decent but if you are particularly mindful of what you spend your game budget on I would pass on this one. Wait for a demo, if possible. The screenshots and video looked great, but the in game experience ultimately felt like a big ol' sip of flat soda.
so far i love the gameplay its beautiful and the music is equally great. The devs are responsive on the discord. So far for where its at a great game
only played for a short time but really enjoying it so far! a few small bugs but when its an indie company with what... 3 people working on it.... its expected. very nice feeling flying!
There is a lot of potential here! The game definitely still has a lot of bugs and some things may be a bit confusing when you first start playing, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly and have been enjoying my time :) 7/10
