Looks absolutely terrible and it's the exact same puzzles you seen a million times in other HOG games, but this time they even reuse the puzzles in the same game, why have several instances of the same exact puzzle mechanics (they really like sliding and tile swap puzzles...). One of the worst of it's kind and i'm not even sure I'll bother finishing it after 1 hour of gameplay. Might do it for the achievements. I think i got it ridiculously cheep in a bundle (like 1 dollar) and it's bareley worth that.
I liked this game a lot, it has that classic adventure feel to it that these fantasy type of games do. I just finished a spate of playing games that were more like the real world with supernatural elements to them, so this was as welcome return to form. I think that I just like the freedom they have with storylines and and ideas more in the fantasy setting games. The story is a twist on an old story of mythology, and I liked it just fine. Not the best of these games, but definitely acceptable and was fun to follow. The music was pretty good, I found myself noticing how much I liked it when I was playing and the puzzles were good too. There was a nice variety of both normal puzzles and hidden object scenes. The hidden object scenes even had the variations where sometimes you are following a list of items in text, sometimes you're looking for a collection of objects to assemble something, or sometimes you are finding and using items in the scene in a certain order to eventually find one single item. Just really good classic gameplay. I will also say the colors, the animations, the quality of the scenes were all very good, very vibrant with a lot of colors that I missed while playing gothic or pirate-themed games. If I have any criticisms, it's mostly three things. First, some of the puzzles were a little too easy sometimes. Some were hard, so it's balanced, but you might find some to not be very challenging. The second was that the collectibles are genuinely hard to find. I had to play through twice to get them all because they way they are designed, some specifically call your attention but then others are placed in an area with the same pattern and color and they're almost invisible. And then the last thing was that the pacing could be weird at times. I usually feel like the way items you can pick up are paced on most games you never have so much in your inventory that you need to scroll through it horizontally. This game you always seemed to have a ton of things in your inventory. But even though these are criticisms, I could see how some people would like them too. I didn't really have a huge problem. A nice, easy puzzle is fun to ace sometimes. Having a lot of items to use all at once can make you think a bit more about where to use them and be an extra challenge. The collectible issue for me was really the biggest thing and I wish this game had a collectible indicator in the HUD that tells you if you have a collectible in that scene to pick up, but it does not. Even then, some people might really enjoy seeking difficult collectibles out. So even the criticisms are kind of just preferences. I did not have any technical issues with this game. This game does have collectibles and a bonus adventure. This game doesn't have a difficulty requirement for achievements.
Thumbs down! I usually like hidden object games from Artifex Mundi, but this was disappointing. There were too many sliding puzzles and too many pointless collectibles.
I didn't enjoy this, but I couldn't really tell you why. It's a perfectly capable game and it does everything you expect a Mundi title to do, but it was lacking a fun factor that I can't quite pin down. The collectibles in this one are very well hidden and I missed several, but this might be the first time that I can't be bothered to go back and find them. I really just wanted this one to be over. For achievement hunters, there are several timed ones that require you to race through scenes repeatedly and I don't find that fun, either. The game mostly just felt like busywork which is arguably the point, but none of it was really engaging this time.
FR/EN Endless Fable : The Minotaurs's Curse
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3719196145
---FR---
Endless Fable is a point-and-click adventure game from Artiflex Mundi's extensive catalog. For those unfamiliar with the publisher, they specialize in hidden object games. Once again, we embark on an adventure in one of their universes alongside Pamela Cavendish. This heir to Ariadne must confront a cult that seeks to resurrect the mythical Minotaur. So, we set off with her and explore the various scenes presented. The graphics are well-done and colorful, even if the game shows its age a little visually. The mechanics are the same as the publisher's other games and focus heavily on scenes where you have to find hidden objects within detailed scenes. By combining the various objects with each other and with the environment, you progress little by little. The mini-games are well-designed and offer some enjoyable puzzles to solve. In the end, you can finish the game in 5 to 6 hours, including the bonus chapter. The adventure is enjoyable, and even if the animations lack polish, the game remains pleasant. It should appeal to fans of the genre and also offers bonuses such as wallpapers, the game's music, and the ability to rewatch cutscenes and replay mini-games. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3719196384
Nice game when you are into this kind of easy puzzle games. Riddle wise I have seen it all before but there is a very good variety and nothing hard to block your progress. The story is simple and told in a rush, I guess no time for such things as we have to save the world... Achievements are plenty and easy to get. Good for a rainy afternoon.
I'm now the world's biggest consumer and reviewer of hidden object games and this one just really didn't hold my interest, it took me a while to motivate to finish it. The hidden object scenes have a lot of variety, but within this variety are a lot of very simplistic types that barely even qualify as hidden object scenes to me, it's more like basic adventure game stuff. The story is really predictable and lacks any entertaining moments, nothing is executed well. The general difficulty is very low it's definitely the easiest game in this genre I've played so far. Still, it's competently made and bug-free so it's not a bad choice if you want to play just another hidden object game, or really want to see it's take on greek mythology (it's simple and bad)
In spite of the story, the game works and has some decent puzzles, so I'm going to recommend it. But BOY HOWDY is Artifex Mundi bad at mythology. This was the equivalent of telling me that Loki and Whisky Jack are the same person. I suppose you CAN mix Greco-Roman and northern European myth, but why on earth would you? The protagonist is also dumb as a rock, but that's to be expected.
