About
Dragon Hop is a challenging 3D precision platformer collectathon. Play as a dragon hatchling who got left behind in a strange world. Collect tokens to unlock abilities and appearances. Get stronger, climb higher and find clues that can give an explanation to the world around you. Try not to fall!
Are you ready to prove yourself? Well, start climbing!
Dragon Hop is all about getting as high as you can get, to see all this world has to offer. Naturally, slipping, falling, and trying again plays a big part in that. Your journey will be hard, but there are ways for the keen-eyed and curious to make it easier.
If you like exploring, in Dragon Hop you shall be greatly rewarded, as there are plenty of treasures scattered around the world, waiting for you to find them! Found a hidden door? There's likely a golden chest waiting on the other side. See a cave entrance? Time for spelunking! Who knows what kind of crystals may lie beneath the earth?
Are your pockets full of treasures? Well, it's time to use them! Speak with your dragon guide to exchange crystals and learn new skills for your dragon. Gliding? No problem! Spitting fireballs? Bring on the heat! Flying? If you just believe, there shall be nothing stopping you from touching the sky!
Your path shall not be easy. Sometimes a well-calculated jump will not be enough: you may have to dodge some nasty traps too! Be sure to keep on your feet in those moments, otherwise you could face a few setbacks.
Some obstacles can move indeed, but some are straight up sentient! Watch out for these creatures. They are here to make your journey more difficult. Will you try to outsmart them or give them a taste of fiery heat? Up to you!
Having a hard time hopping? See if you can use your environment to your advantage. From riding animals, to activating forgotten constructs - sailing boats to opening portals, never shy away from some exploring. Curiosity kills cats, not dragons!
Why are you here? What happened? What’s the point to any of this? These are great questions. Perhaps the answers don’t even matter, we could just be here for fun. But maybe…, just maybe there is more to this chaotic world than meets the eye. Let’s see if you can unravel the mystery…
Not a fan of hardcore platforming? Try Exploration mode! Dragon Hop aims to bridge the gap between those who like to suffer a bit and those who are just looking for a cosy ride.
In Exploration mode you can look for Feathers to unlock checkpoints with, and save your progress. It’s good for some practice too!
However, should you choose Hardcore mode, you shall be rewarded with special appearances and additional achievements for your efforts.

Full disclosure, I kickstarted this game. I did not receive a "free" copy because I, well, I kickstarted it. But I am unsure if I am supposed to click the received for free tag or not. So, with that out of the way: I am thoroughly enjoying this game. 3D Platformer/Collectathons are my favorite genre of video game and while this game is way more about the platforming than the collecting, both features are definitely present. That being said, the platforming aspect of the game is a lot more challenging than most others in the genre, and that is by design. It offers those of us who enjoy a tougher challenge to jump and climb our way to greater heights. Literally. It is going to be easy for people to make comparisons to a certain purple dragon franchise, based purely on the dragon-aesthetic and similar genre-classification, but that isn't really fair in my opinion. Sure both are 3D Platformers and Collectathons about a little dragon, but the gameplay and stories are actually quite different. For one thing, as much as I love the purple dragon's franchise, it tends to be on the easier side of platforming and focuses a lot more on completing various micro-challenges to receive rewards. Dragon Hop on the other hand is all about climbing higher and higher to reach your goals, and it can be punishing if you miss a jump as you'll have to reclimb previously tread areas just to get back to where you were. Combat is also a major difference between the two games, one focuses a lot more on using fighting enemies as a core mechanic and the other (Dragon Hop) uses them more as an obstacle than anything. Dragon Hop has a few antagonistic creatures, but there is no health or lives system so "enemies" are literally just another form of obstacle. Story presentation is also quite different as one is much more highly narrative driven than the other, Dragon Hop's story seems to be more expressed through finding clues in the environment than through thematic story-telling. Both are good, but they are different and it isn't going to do anyone any favors to shackle one to the other. I have yet to beat the game, or even truly get incredibly far into it, but as I current stand, I am really loving what I have experienced so far.
700m up so far and im enjoying it. pretty good game. not many good onlyup/rage games out there but this is a good one.
I had already played the demo, but now that I've started the game on its release day, I had to stop playing to write a few words. Besides being quite challenging, it demands constant concentration on every jump, on every detail. It's not just an ordinary game, but a game of achievements, of going further, of always wanting to risk one more jump. Fantastic game, in which I want to explore more biomes and discover more about the game <3
The game is amazing! I was captivated by its versatility, the challenge that made me want to keep playing, and the great music! It seems like it gets harder from here on out, but I can't wait for more!
I... Wish there was an "informational" vote... I am going to say yes, because there's time for the game to improve and deal with what I'm about to complain about, but let me open with: This is Spyro if it very indie and an only up inspired game. Let me explain: Spyro is an easy, forgiving platformer with collectathon mechanics.. So is this, kinda. There are shortcuts, and check points, and literal teleporters. This is not a hard game... But it is still Only Up. There are collectables and three unlockable powers... Maybe I'd like it more if I got those powers unlocked. Now for what took this game from a "I'll give this a recommend" to a "I wish there was an informational option". The game is technically flawed. I think it's probably using some canned settings and has mouse acceleration of some sort that keeps messing up my camera movements. The movement feels floaty and not in an intentional way. There's a climb mechanic, where if you almost get a jump the dragon will climb up. This fails sometimes, and you climb up, and then through the floor. There's also some spots that are just *slightly* sloped enough that you just slide off and I hate that. Devs, fix the movement issues... And keep going. Hell, I'd legit love it if you added a gem mechanic (Well, maybe not gems) for the "tons of collectables" fun of Spyro.
First of all, sorry for my broken English. I'm a native French speaker and my English isn't great, but I'll explain it in a way that's understandable to as many people as possible. I received the game from a friend, and I really love dragons. At first, when I launched the game, I thought I'd just play a typical only-up game. I admit I'm not usually a fan of games like that because I find them difficult and frustrating, but I don't think that's the case here. There's an exploration mode with regular checkpoints, and with the music, the dragon, exploration, and power-ups, I find this game much more chill than a typical only-up game. I'm really enjoying it so far. The scenery is beautiful and varied, the mechanics are great, and I find the game particularly addictive. I should also mention that while I was streaming the game (I'm just a very small streamer), the game's developer joined my stream. He gave me advice, answered my questions, and was genuinely interested in my feedback on his game. He's a great listener and was ready to fix any bugs I found while playing. It's also fantastic to see someone so passionate behind this game, so thank you to him! I'm looking forward to many more hours of fun with my dragon!
The graphics are pretty unique and the movement is smooth, also the dragons are cute and silly haha I liked them a lot, you can custom, unlock stuff and more (no spoilers ;o). It´s a game to go jump until very high so you will put your accuracy and patience to the test lol Recommended ✨
Recomendado.
I didn't get too far into the game on my first attempt. I found a bug before even getting to press "new game" with my controller that stopped me for a while and then I was unlucky enough to find one of those little bugs that allows you to fall through the map. Rather than just complaining, I did the sensible thing of letting the developer know about my issues and within 24 hours he has patched the game and fixed both issues. The little bit I have played so far I really enjoyed. I love the customisation of the dragon character and I like the movement of the character, it felt very smooth to me. My highest level so far was at around 60m before I fell through the mountain. I'm looking forward to going back in to the game for another go this evening. My parkour skills are terrible though, so I suspect people will be hearing my screams for miles around. With the introductory offer, this game is well worth it's price.
jugar en modo exploración es lo recomendable si quieres terminar el juego jaja, dejen el modo hardcore para los vtubers que necesitan que su comunidad se ría cuando se caiga de un lugar súper alto 💀
