I couldn't really get into the game myself. I can't say it's a bad game because it's not, but personally it feels a little cumbersome and limiting for how characters are, and personally, I think the characters from Knights of the Old Republic have more interesting stories.
This game is garbage.
These Old Games Still Have The Magic That Modern Titles Sometimes Struggle To Capture...9/10
Okay. So, the controls are godawful. The UI and menus are an absolute nightmare. The map is useless. It suffers greatly from consolitis, and it is simply deeply, DEEPLY unpleasant to control with keyboard and mouse because there were apparently zero changes between the console version and the PC version. Edit: I have now tried using a controller and it's just as ♥♥♥♥. Nevermind. Whoever made this game just hates... users, I guess. Extremely little is explained and buy/sell or crafting menus give you almost no information. Every single outfit in this game is an eyesore. There is too much filler material, like pointless Ubisoft collection quests. There's bugs. None of the companions are romantically appealing (yes, even Dorian. I'm sorry. He's great, but I'm just not feeling it). Here's the all-too-few positives: All the non-clothing artwork is simply gorgeous, and the environments are immensely pretty. There is surprisingly little difference in usability between having a mouse and only having a touchpad (long train journeys). It actually runs better than the previous games??? Computer isn't wheezing itself to death??? The story eventually actually becomes somewhat interesting. With enough reading, crafting *almost* becomes somewhat interesting. But that simply can't make up for the hateful controls and UI, the map that's so terrible it would be better to not have one, and the vast expanses of nothingness; of running through empty environs.
medio meh la verdad
the stupid EA app would've been enough for a negative review, but... Came as a huge fan of DA:Origins and this one just does not deliver. I could've said all the things that are bad about this game, but I cant even find a thing that I liked. I was certain that my mini map is bugged only to realize it was intended to look like this. The horse looks funny as hell - could've just add a sprint button instead, but no - they've even had the guts to add race missions!
It's a great game, but exhaustingly huge. It's quite slow paced with MMO vibes, but the level designers did an amazing job to keep it interesting. Each map takes hours to complete, and they are all unique with many paths carved out (as opposed to being fully open and barren). Combat is fun, and while they give you a tactical camera that pauses time, I played on normal as I didn't want to faff around with that. Your companions are all nicely fleshed out with backstories, and the story has an interesting villain. The story otherwise takes a bit of a back seat - since the game is so large, you are expected to spend hours doing non-story things, and will be penalised by being underlevelled if you skip side quests. Also while DA:O is famous for its morally grey choices, DA:I instead goes for "the least worst of two bad choices", which I preferred a lot less. As to the downsides - you are thrown in the deep end with minimal help (so absolutely not recommended for people new to gaming), and the inventory management is outright terrible. The romance options felt a bit limited and not as impactful as the previous games. Despite giving you a choice of a dozen different areas that all unlock at the same time, they all have different level requirements that are invisible to the player. Multiple times I struggled through one area, to later breeze through an area at a higher level where I was supposed to visit first. Overall I've enjoyed it a lot, I'm just definitely ready for it to finish once I complete the last DLC. To sum up this compared to previous games since I've played them back to back - DA:O - amazing story and choices, world feels large but gameplay is extremely dated DA:2 - improved gameplay, but the story is forgettable and the scale of the game feels tiny DA:I - huge scale, improved gameplay, story is ok with a decent amount of choices
