Information / Review English
Doomsday Room is a Strategy / Simulation game developed by Doubleton Game Studio. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2366894331
Gameplay / Story
Different countries were marked by the wars of that time and everything is under construction again. The scenario takes place in 1947. The last great world war was only a few months back. New alliances have come together to accelerate reconstruction and to get used resources, new superpowers have come together and are negotiating with each other to find a common solution to implement this. We are talking about seven nations and these will decide the fate of the world. These are the following 7 nations, each with its advantages and disadvantages: Borealia, the hope among the nations, because it tries to establish contact with others and to mediate. Nova Amerca, oil trading and trade in itself is the order of the day. Transatlanta offers one of the strongest troops in the world. Nobody can take on the force, and it's best to avoid them. Colonia, one of the weakest nations that has its own problems with many crimes and no head for other things at the moment. Francesca, is always in need of financial support and is very backward in research and other things. Urasia, politics has split in several directions and everyone has a different idea of how to do it. Norland, contract killer and espionage comes first and has shaped itself. Your job in Doomsday Room is to control the world as a representative of Borealia Corp, as one of the seven nations. The aim is to restore world stability for the benefit of all and to introduce equality for all. You are a representative and enjoy all the rights of your nation and you can do what you want, as long as you act in the good of your president and the nation. Otherwise they can turn against you and you are a thorn in the side. You have almost all options open to your decisions. As an example, you are free to focus on technology or nuclear chemistry in order to intimidate others about an atom bomb. Both can also be easily combined. No matter what you choose, there are no right or wrong answers in the game. Of course, every decision has its advantages and disadvantages and it also affects your reputation among other nations. So you have the choice, you have the choice, how you proceed politically to get your goal. Peacefully or the hard way. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2366894345
Pro
+ Experience the cold war from another side + Strategy game at its best + matching graphic style and background music + historically plausible events and decisions + several nations are available + different ways of resolving conflicts + Freedom of choice + Achievements
Contra
- Control not fully developed - Game is too easy
Conclusion
Doomsday Room offers you a great Mix of Strategy with freedom of choice to make your Nation stand out as a Wehrmacht. A better kind of Strategy game. Clear buy recommendation. PS: First of all, many thanks to the developer who provided us with this key for the group.
Information / Review Deutsch
Doomsday Room ist ein Strategie/Simulation Spiel, welches von Doubleton Game Studio entwickelt wurde. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2366894331
Gameplay / Geschichte
When i was young, i remember a Time where the United States and Europe where in Conflict with the Soviet Union todays Russian Federation. It was West against East and there was fear in the Air, nuclear Fear. Both Sides armed and armed theirselves up in Fear of each other, having big and enough Weapons to scare the other Side. It all started 1947 and ended 1990. What if you are send in to prevent the World from a Nuclear War? Take a seat and welcome to DOOMSDAY ROOM. DOOMSDAY ROOM is a fictional take on these Events. The World in this Game is the World we know in Sight in 1947, but with fictional States and other Borders. You are the Representative of the Fictional Nation Borelia. Sitting in a War Room with the Representatives of the other Nations it is up to you to make difficult decissions. Month after Month. 7 Nations, one World. Will that work? It is up to you. Well, there is more then one way to manage this. You can try to win the Space Race to get the first Space Station, beeing the first owning a Doomsday Device that destroys every starting Nuclear Missile. Or maybe you get the Fear to a whole new Level in beeing the Nation with the most Nuclear Weapons. What Way do you choose. While you sit in the Doomsday Room, you have several different Mentors who help you having an Eye on the whole Situation and of course asking you for difficult Decissions. Keep in Mind, owning Nuclear Weapons also mean to test them. Where do you test them? My General shows me in the Picture below, telling me about each possible Consequence. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2366857328 Choose your Allies wisely and have an Eye on their Progress. As you can see on this Picture on the Right Side, they are arming theirselves and Defcon started. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2366857701 And keep this always in Mind: Each Determination leads to a Consequence, as you can see on the Picture below. What Way will you go? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2366857151 You have the Tools of Power, use them wisely. There are so many options to „win“ in the End and if you only prevent Nuclear War for Forty Months. Your choice, your consequence. DOOMSDAY ROOM is a really realistic take on a Timeline of Fear. The Developer did a very well research of that Times, putting it into this Game, giving you a hard Time of choices. Yes, this Game is a simple choice driven Simulator. Easy to learn, but hard to master. And you can be sure that this Game will show you the constraints of your conscience. That is something i promise you. Thanks to Dev for sharing this really thrilling Game with me. It is really amazing done. My greatest Respect. And Thank YOU for Reading. I just completed my first play through and things got ugly. Like nuke the world ugly. Enjoyed every second of this! I've always wanted to find something similar to old games like Balance of Power / Shadow President, and while this isn't going to replace that game for me, it certainly has elements of that game that are presented well. It can be difficult at times to see how your choices will impact the short/long term issues. An example: Nordland appeared to be just into the red, but things kept getting to Defcon 1. I couldn't figure out why this was happening and this is what eventually triggered a Nuclear war. They nuked us all. I may have missed something, or don't fully understand all of the game mechanics my first time through, but either way it was still an enjoyable experience. If you are a fan of Shadow President, Balance of Power or political sims this is a solid entry.
Doomsday Room... A game that came out on the same day as my 16th birthday. When I first saw this game while browsing down in Steam, I first thought that the concept might be interesting. So I waited a while, I saved some money and then bought the game. The first time I played this game I was a little bit disappointed that this game was not that satisfying for me. The game was not bad or didn't have bugs or anything but I overestimated what this game could offer. But after playing for a while I think that this game is worthwhile. To put it mildly this game offers a cold-war scenerio that you can role play in it. Being a diplomat in the UN and trying to solve or create crises was entertaining. While playing this game I felt that this game was very similar but an advenced version of a browser game called "Three Minutes to Midnight" which is a game you can play on browser at itch io. This game also felt similar to the game "Cold War 2" which is also a browser game. All in all the game was enough and offers some variety in it that can keep you occupied for a while. Before evaluating this game with a score, I would like to mention something that I think the developer should also consider. This game is expensive. Well, I am living in Turkey and this game costs 32 Turkish liras and as far as I checked from the internet this game costs 20 dollars in US. Although this game is a full game that can be played without encountering any bugs and has potential to be improved in my opinion this price is one of the reasons why this game is not getting many reviews (I mean the sales are not that high). Revising the price policy might be a good idea. Lasty for the developer (since this is a relatively small game I hope he will read this): This game has potential, do not stop improving and adding new features to this game, I really enjoy it. I even votes this game for game developing championship, there are not that many independent developers that works on this type of games. 80/100
Every decision counts! I enjoyed how this game puts you on the spot, do you want to do the right thing or do you do what's best for your progress even if it causes problems for someone else? The visuals are great and the story is interesting to play through, even the second time around. I haven't been able to beat the game yet though, I think I'm too nice :D
Good game!
This game is one of a kind. Interesting story with lots of political issues involved. The narrative style is pretty straight forward, so it's very easy to follow even for a casual gamer. Each decision made will decide the political outcome as well as conflict of interest between parties. Love how the conflict goes and how well it's written. Definitely recommend this game!
There's not much replayability for me. It's just the same scenario over and over.
