great horror game, good vanilla ports of the original games too
It's a damn good remaster of a game I love a lot. It's basically Doom 3 with a bunch of added content and quality of life improvements. It also controversially lowered the difficulty, and removed the horror, by adding more ammo pick-ups and also by replacing your flashlight weapon with a dedicated suit mounted flashlight. We could argue all we want about whether these changes were needed or not. I already made my piece on how misunderstood the original game was in my review for it, and these changes were put into place to appease those who didn't like the game in the first place. While I think it removes the sauce from Doom 3, I also think that there's nothing wrong with having a separate version of the game that is made to be more accessible to more of the fanbase. Just a shame that it wasn't a separate difficulty option or something. Anyhow, get this game if you wanna play Doom but Half-Life, on easy difficulty.

Läuft bei mir nicht richtig. System 7800X3D - 5070TI @ WQHD - 32GB RAM - NVMe SSD..... Taschenlappe macht faxen, Monitore im Spiel zeigen teilweise nichts an....ne lass mal einfach nur grottig. lief 2004 mit meinem damaligen Athlon XP 3200+ und der 6800GT 1280x1024 super.

Consistently plays on wrong screen, no setting to change that. There are a few guides online to fix it, but most of them involve changing the config file, and that no longer works. There is one that involves starting with a fresh install and then installing two other programs off of github, and then some other stuff... but then I realized that I could just play the original Doom 3 and get the actual authentic experience instead of the sanitized ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that is the BFG edition with it's shoulder mounted flashlight, bright lights, and fast running... So yeah, the TL;DR is, if you want to actually play Doom 3, don't ♥♥♥♥ with the Big ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Garbage Edition, just go install the OG Doom 3 and RoE. It plays beautifully on Windows 11, unlike this unsupported pile of ♥♥♥♥♥.
I haven't finished this game yet, but I am pretty happy with this game. I know some people say it's not as good as the other DOOM games, but this has a good challenge to it, it has a story I can follow pretty well, and it really fits the dark horror vibe. I've gotten scared plenty of times from this game, and it feels like it tries to catch you off-guard, even if it doesn't. Overall, pretty damn solid DOOM game! I love it!
