I'll start with a positive because I am feeling charitable: The developer did actually replace the pizza from the demo with some nondescript lumps in a bowl, meaning he listened to the feedback I gave in the forum thread. Said lumps kind of look like garlic which is even worse for cats than pizza, but you have to take what you can get when you're playing a game like this - and let me tell you, you ain't getting much. It's rare that I come across a truly awful game, because it actually takes a lot for me to consider a game awful. There's bad games, games I don't recommend, games I just don't like, but in most of them I can see some kind of vision, a spark. Maybe the game sucks, but I can see what they were doing with it. I can appreciate the effort, because making a game is hard and for one guy, takes competencies in so many fields of art, design, programming, and more in order to pull off. Even if I dislike something heavily, I can usually find some kind of value in it. With that in mind, Don't Feed the Cat is a truly awful game. Each night, your unnamed protagonist wakes up in his apartment at 22:00 hrs, with a list of tasks to complete as you wander around the small space. There's a couple objects you can pick up and throw around, but these don't do anything. The tasks take all of thirty seconds at best to complete, and it doesn't matter if you do them or not because nothing changes at all. Then there's the cat. At some point, this tuxedo cat will spawn in the kitchen and meow at you - and if you feed it, it politely eats dinner and lies down. Then, you spend the entire duration of the night just loitering around because there is literally nothing to do or see besides the tasks and the cat feeding (or lack thereof). Boring. There's also a few lore notes you can read explaining that the titular cat is some kind of monstrous tulpa thing and feeding it is a bad idea, but these are all available from the very start of the game and immediately ruin any kind of mystery or tension that might have existed if they were staggered and feeding the cat was less unambiguously bad. Speaking of, if you feed the cat? Strange things start to happen. Kind of. The screen sometimes randomly fisheyes, some furniture might move or the lights might flicker. Maybe the TV turns on. Practically, none of this does anything at all. The final night has a model for some kind of monstrous cat, but it shows up for literally a fraction of a second before doing nothing and leaving you to loiter again. If you don't feed the cat? The game is exactly the same except nothing weird happens and it's even more boring. Awesome. I played the demo for this back in October, and I didn't think it was great but was curious to see how it was expanded on. I was interested in the premise and thought there was good potential, especially if the apartment started to get odd like something out of House of Leaves. I thought that, by the time of release, the game would have more substance, more things to do, some way to actually die maybe considering the description says "survive the nights", but no. There's nothing to survive, there's nothing to do, and the game is not only about fifteen minutes long for a single playthrough, but the paid version is only about a single night longer than the free demo, and there's almost no difference between the two beyond that. Promises of more content, unexpected surprises, and anything else that the developer talked about were complete and total lies - but hey, he changed the pizza into something else. I guess he listened to feedback after all. This dev is a joke. This game is a joke. And the punchline? Feed the cat, ignore the cat, in either case the game abruptly ends with the exact same on-screen text display - telling you that you shouldn't have fed the cat. What a waste of time.
I played the demo months ago, and they didn't fix any of the issues from then in the full version. I'm also convinced the demo WAS the full version, cause I honestly didn't even notice a difference between the two. It has pointless objectives that don't matter if you complete them or not, it's unbelievably buggy and items don't even spawn in for you to complete said objectives, and NOT feeding the cat still makes the game end with it saying "WHY DID YOU FEED THE CAT IDIOT?" (paraphrased lol) It also only lasts like 15 minutes. Charging $5 for this slop is actually insane.

Did not feed the cat, was told I fed the cat, gameover. It's not clear what you need to do. Pass.
EN. This game is awful totally rubbish, it could have a good potential but not like this. IT.
Game runs very good on Steam Deck but is extremely buggy. On night 2 I had to water the flowers got 2 done the 3rd flower was outside but couldn't water due to a game bug blocking me from reaching it. Then another night told me to collect the pills laying around the apartment in which no pills spawned. The following night I had to take the pills that spawned to remain alive but no pills spawned the previous night so I couldn't take them. My assumption is watering the 3rd plant bug caused all of this to unfold which in turn makes the game unplayable. Unfortunately if it's fixed the game would actually be fun. Update they fixed the bug game can now be recommended great job devs. 7.5/10 https://youtu.be/UqFoG6sRc_8?si=fOpHxNXjLRkPbKHK
