Domino House is a fun little puzzle solving adventure game. It had a dark, quick-drawn aesthetic that plays well into the puzzles. A definite play for any online escape room fans. The puzzles are primarily a combination of pattern matching and association -- figure out what applies to what, and decipher the pattern. The recurring domino theme is a nice cohesive touch to the puzzles. There were several tried and true mechanisms, while also having enough novelty and uniqueness to be appealing. I appreciate that the audio puzzle did not require and tone sensitivity. Be aware there are no in-game hints, but most of the puzzles are easy. I got stuck, requiring outside help, in only one place. I perhaps did a bit of wild clicking when looking for this bit. Otherwise I felt my activity was fairly directed, understanding what to do from the visuals. Gametime is about two hours with decent puzzle progress. I had fun, and will tell my friends to play.
This game will make you feel super smart! At least it did for me, as nothing beats that magical a-ha!-moment when you understand one of the many cryptic clues. I especially enjoyed the art style that made hunting for clues not as tedious as a hidden object type experience, everything is very clear and legible. In combination with the eerie soundtrack the minimalist style evokes a certain Tim Burtonesque atmosphere that's unsettling at first but actually warm at heart. If you are looking for a spooky brain teaser with a very original presentation, give Domino House a shot, it's definitely worth it!
A very enjoyable experience! I found the puzzles hard, but definitely possible and fair. The game world, puzzles, art, and music kept me immersed for the entire duration. (disclaimer: I helped out with some of the Dutch translations, so I am not entirely unbiased. I paid for the game though, and I didn't have early access)
Fantastic experience! The ambiance, art, and music are wonderful, and the puzzle solving is very rewarding. Those 'epiphany' moments when you figure out each puzzle are well worth the time invested looking for hints and clues. What started out as a "spooky" house you want to escape, slowly turned to a charming place with wonderful character and heart, that I was sad to leave in the end; you develop an attachment to Domino House as you learn it's secrets and examine all the nooks and crannies in the wonderful artwork searching for clues/hints to the puzzles.
Yes, it took almost 5hrs maybe to beat this. But it wasn’t that complicated I just kept getting interrupted. You believe me, right? Think most people can complete it in under 3hrs. This game is fantastic. Yes, I got it for free, but I already want to play it again. Who wants to play point and clicks again? The art is on point, the music is chill and relaxing, the scares and uncomfortable things in the house are just perfect. There was only one puzzle I got annoyed at because the sequence was so long, but everything was incredibly creative. Things blended into the environment seamlessly, and something I saw as easy I know other people struggled with. It’s perfect. I hope to see more from this developer, because even though the puzzle I disliked was at the end, I was still very sad it was over. The creativity that went into the items you need and how you use them or find them… I can’t say enough about it. I did receive the product for free, but I am always honest about them. Hope you give this game a shot!
This game is very easy on the eyes, I love sitting down and working my way through the puzzles while enjoying the beautiful design and nice ambient music. The puzzles can be a little tricky, I am frustratingly stuck right now but I am still loving every moment. The demo is a great taste for the game so if you are unsure, definitely try out the free demo and get ready to fall in love. The only slight bummer is that because this game has yet to become wildly popular as some other hidden adventure cult classics, there are no guides out for it yet. This may be a plus for you. I personally have been known to read through a guide when I get stuck beyond belief and just want to move on. I am sure these walkthrough will come as this game gets more popular. Would recommend, I really love this game and for any spooky vibe lovers that are not into the complete horror scene- this is the perfect game for you.
pros SUPER cute art design relaxing atmosphere intuitive puzzles the items you gather and use actually make sense a e s t h e t i c cons overwhelming at first since you are exposed to a lot of rooms up front
A charming little point n click. The puzzles were juuuust challenging enough to keep me experimenting. But Everything felt fair, and I never felt cheated when a solution finally clicked. The difficulty curve comes more from your own eye missing something, rather than anything becoming more obtuse. I really loved the art, and general oddity of it all. Definitely recommended for a few hour of head scratching fun.
