Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.43/day in the week to Jul 23 → 1.71/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

how to play? dastactic on yt and there's a pdf (Scotts DW2 guide v4.0) on the matrix forums. game is not for someone who's not willing to learn for 20 or so hours but i think it'll be worth it. if you're willing then i recommend you play on peaceful, no pirates, no racial stories, and just dabble with everything for around >100 years. your progression should go like: in-system mining and exploration, early warp, military, stable warp, pirates/combat, extra-system exploration, (independent) diplomacy then colonisation. you'd have learned half the game by then i think. the other half is all about ships and fleets which I am still learning but now on a normal game with victory conditions. the game is not actually that complex, some players enter the game expecting it to function like stellaris when it's similarities start and end with empire building. writing is not that good in this game unfortunately. it has it's own colonisation mechanics, expansion and territory mechanics, fleet mechanics, etc. ui needs some getting used to but luckily i've spent hundreds of hours in sci-fi games with worse ui like x4. no shade to those games tho they're the good ones.

Really comprehensive game
DW2 is my favorite of the Space 4x titles to come out in recent years. The details of the clockwork galaxy make for a very unique experience compared to other real-time 4x games. Lacks some of the polish of titles from bigger developers, but I find myself more likely to spend time in Distant Worlds 2 than Stellaris.
Awesome game. If you want to see gameplay check here https://youtu.be/yGbWoquhnAA. The latest Atuuk & Wekkarus DLC gameplay can be found here. Read the pinned comment in the video first since we ran into some issues with galaxy generation. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJxGZLekkc8
Yes
Exceptional space opera game, quite complex but can it can be automated a lot. Highly recommended!
This is the type of game you can lose time with, only 8 hours in at this point but I am totally drawn in. Whether you want to stay within borders and grow steadily and stay safe with the help of protection payments to pirates or become a dominant force and force others to fall to you, this game seems to have it all and with every update it seems to get better. This a game which will soon become one of my main stays. Great experience so far.

This is really a sideways thumb rating -- thumbs up because I am really glad games like this exist, and I'm happy to have bought it and supported the devs. The game is not really for me long term - but I think there are people who would really enjoy this. This game is in sort of a weird position -- it's not a "Casual" space opera like Stellaris, but it's also not a wargame or turn based like Shadow Empire or MOO2. If you want to spend a LOT of time building an empire, doing diplomacy, managing resources, etc. with a somewhat clunky (but 'ok" once you get to know it) interface - you might really enjoy this game. The detail for ship building and related tech is AWESOME. However, I just found the game a bit to dreary/sleepy to play (I have better things to do with my time). The music is also bad - so shut it off and put something else on in the background. I can't vote this game down though because it's clear the devs and engineers put a lot of work into this game, and there are some really cool side missions and storylines that pop up occasionally. I also liked the variety of races and sub-species. It's almost great but not good enough at the same time if that makes sense.
