[h1]Played On: [b]HTC Vive[/b][/h1] In Discovr Egypt: King Tut's Tomb, players can explore three rooms of the legendary King Tut across two different modes. The "Discovry" mode allows for casual tomb exploration, where one can learn facts about Ancient Egypt. The "Treasure Hunt" mode pits gamers on a race against the clock to collect the various artifacts around the tomb, as well as randomly spawning gold rings. While the game itself is visually dark, players come equipped with a flashlight in one hand, while the other hand is used to control a very early version of teleportation locomotion. Discovr Egypt: King Tut's Tomb suffers from the classic issue of early VR titles; it just hasn't aged well, especially if you've been playing a lot of more recent games. Having to squeeze the grip on the controller to activate the point-shoot-and-move teleport locomotion is cumbersome, and it holds back any fun that the Treasure Hunt mode might offer. There are only a handful of facts, most of which are common knowledge or essentially irrelevant to King Tut himself. The textures and models are also badly crafted as well. Discovr™ Egypt: King Tut's Tomb is a free VR experience. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. The devs were trying to make an education program, but i think that failed. Two modes of play, you can explore untimed or you can swat items on a checklist with a short timer. You have a flash light in a dark room. The locomotion is teleporting to different spots in the room. You will need a room scale playspace for this game. There is no objects you can handle. The objects look crudely modeled and textured. The wall textures looked crude on my system. I am not sure if this has actual footage represented from the real tomb. Has Steam acheivements, play it for the acheivements. Try it and delete it.

This was one of the first games I played when I received my Vive, and it pretty immediately made me realise that my purchase was worth it. Granted, there's not much to the title, but the experience of stepping into an ancient tomb recreated in virutal reality is something to behold. Definitely recommended.

"Discovr™ Egypt: King Tut's Tomb" is a very small and mostly pointless VR tech demo from 8 years ago (almost feels as old as a tomb). All you do is look around and try to find some treasure in a mediocre recreation of an Egyptian burial site. The demo only lasts about 15 minutes. Graphicswise, this has some fairly mediocre/dated looking graphics that will understandably be a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. It's VR exclusive, and that shows the developer failed to understand the most basic axiom of VR game design... if the only cool thing about your product is VR support, your product is not cool. You're forced to sign a highly questionable yet legally unenforceable End User License Agreement... for such a relatively low effort, low quality product, this comes across more as a delusion of grandeur than anything else. This agreement includes questionable requirements that may attempt to revoke consumer law protections that gamers expect to have, which is also highly problematic. Developers must learn they are here to serve gamers, not control them. I had my cat walk over the keyboard while the EULA was displaying, which fixed that problem for me. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $3 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 11 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? Not this time. This isn't worth downloading. While this won't cost you any money, you get what you pay for, and sometimes, even when the game is free, it's still not enough.

Not sure why this app gets so much hate? The graphics are nice and the tidbits of info are cool! Its a fun little free history game. Oh, the achievements are wicked cool.

Listen this is not an all hunt treasure hunt or full of history lesson material. But to get a feel of the tomb and some of the objects it holds within, this does do. The whole game takes about 15 minutes to go through, the experience is great and was a lot of fun. I got it FREE so that I can not complain about.. Will Treasure Hunt Again... 8/10
