There are no financial or any general manager aspects. No bells, whistles, or 3D graphics. There are lineup and strategy decisions that produce logical results. You feel like a true manager in game. Using baseball-reference.com you can download player pictures very easily. If you have already done this with an older version of the franchise, then just copy the PlayerPics folder from the prior version to this version's install location. There are also a very large number of free included seasons. There is a developer who is still very active in the Steam community. The upgrade from all previous versions that I like best is the simple but extremely improved in game interface. The line-up for the batting team and current pitcher are now at the screen's bottom allowing easier access to data. The extra menu options also make for a better experience for aging eyes using a potato pc. I will let hard core baseball fans decide and report as to the accuracy of stats etc. I just know that I am glad to have purchased this version of the game.
I've been playing DDBB since Version 1 and each release has built on what has come before -- successfully. Version 10 is no different. Most everything has been deepened or refined, leaving DDBB (imho) as the best historical baseball sim not named OOTP. And of course the library of past seasons grows month-by-month. Highly recommended for any gamer interested in baseball. Go Giants!
Having played many other stat based PC games-- Strat, Replay, Action, Diamond Mind, 4th St., and Inside Pitch, I can say with confidence that DDBB is a serious competitor with a great price point! I play tested this year's version for the first time, and I can tell you with TOTAL CONFIDENCE that the developer actually listens to his customers and has implemented many of my own suggestions to improve the look and appeal of the game. The game engine is open/visible for most play results and there's no tinkering under the "hood" to make the sim stats line up w/ real life numbers. Most of the available seasons come w/ the game. No need to repeatedly pay $20 or $30 for a season. The game engine will produce very accurate results (FEEL FREE TO VIEW MY 1963 REPLAY RESULTS ON THE WEBSITE) and the CM is user friendly and easy to "tinker" with it. It's a snap to d/l ballparks, play pics and team logos. If you're like me and want to roll your own dice, you may do so. Play w/ as played lineups or not, it's your choice. L/R splits are in place as well. Same with ballpark effects (optional). Want to sit back and watch the action, done. Want to fast play to the bottom of the 7th (or any inning you'd like) and then pick up the action in the role of a manager, consider it done. Want to view the out-of-town scoreboard while playing a game, ok, it's there for your viewing pleasure. This is truly a hidden gem among the available baseball PC games. The developer has made more upgrades to this year's version than probably all of the other games put together. I highly recommend you give DDBB a shot. I'm fairly certain that steam (check their full policy) offers a money back guarantee if you're not satisfied. Play ball!!
Thoroughly enjoyable baseball simulation! I am presently replaying the 1954 New York Giant's season and have completed their previous 4 seasons. The wealth of seasons is incredible, and the ability to customize photos, and ballparks, is extensive. After viewing the user tutorial videos provided, the game is easy to set up, and even easier to play. One has the ability to micro manage, or just sit back and enjoy your hot dog and beverage of choice. The statistical accuracy of the simulation is very good and the stars will be stars! I have many hours of play time in OOTP, PC Replay Baseball, Strat-O-Matic, and others, and Digital Diamond Baseball has become my go to baseball sim. For the price, the ease of play, the access to a HUGE amount of previous seasons, and the down right enjoyment derived, this game is highly recommended to the die-hard baseball fan.
This is not a recommendation of the game each of you must do that yourselves I did a video on YouTube and linked it in discussion when I had an issue with subs aks PH PR understand that I have purchased the game since V7 . DDBBAdmin 1 day ago The getting started section of user guide released with V10 does a great job of explaining how to use the new Play Ball Page in DDBB. To streamline the process of pinch hitting, pinch running, and going to the bullpen, all you have to do is click on the hitter, runner, or pitcher in the lineup and click on the Pinch Hit, Pinch Run, or Go To The Pen button. It is a fast and intuitive process. Perhaps you could spend a little more time consulting the user guide before playing the game. I think an apology is in order for the wonderful Beta testers that spent countless hours testing the game before it was released. Next time read the manual. Or even better, -- Steam offers a refund within two weeks of purchase, please take advantage of it.
Recent update makes this probably the best baseball game out there.
What can be said? I've loved DDBB sine Version 5, and it keeps getting better and better. The best thing is the user control over league creation. You can create any level of league you would like, from a major-league to your child's Little League. If questions ever arise, the developed Mark is readily available to quickly respond. The bst thing about creating your own seasons is that every mar-league season is included with the game. Once you buy the game, that is it. No more $$$ spent on individual seasons. The accuracy is very close between simulated results and actual numbers. All in all, there truly is not a better buy on the market. This comes from someone who has tried 'em all.
I would highly recommend this game. V10 which is now released has so many good features, I can't describe them all. The game is highly enjoyable, very realistic and comes with most teams that have ever played at no extra charge. I would suggest you go to their site (digitaldiamondbaseball.com) and watch the youtube videos for how version 10 works They have done a great job with the videos as well as the game. I've played probably 10 different baseball games and this one is always in my rotation.
This game, with the Board Game Companion is a baseball gamer's dream!
I've been looking for a baseball sim game much like a C&D style on a mac and it is finally here! Great game play, with plenty of options to play to tweak if you so choose. There is Human vs Human and Human vs Computer mode. The price point for this game is amazing for what it gives offers. Needless to say this is a very entertaining baseball sim - you should give it a try!
