i beat the game, and bought it during the summer sale. it wasnt a deep enough discount for the product. no performance issues at all. and thats probably because every zone is about 15 feet long. Its written like a terrible anime, the agent system/digivolving is locked behind quests and side quests. by the time i beat the game i didnt have any megas in my party. imagine playing a pokemon game where you cant get your last evolution until new game+. i liked the combat for the most part but it didnt scratch the jrpg/monster collector itch for me. maybe buy on a deep deep discount but it really turned me off the digimon franchise as a whole.
Cringe-conversation simulator. Battles are also too easy even on hard.
The grind is insane. The more I played it, the less I liked it.
there is no way this game was tested. max level is decided by a stat.. if that stat is 20, max level is 20. barely any of the item that increases that stat. so you run into a difficulty spike where all of a sudden out of nowhere you can barely hurt the boss and it oneshots your team.. now what? well you will now have to spend the next 10 hours in what is effectivly a facebook mobile idle game waiting for the stats to increase. can you get more effective "EV trainers"? yes.. it'll take twice as long and you will gain twice as much stats.. so thats pointless. I have read so many positive reviews of this game and I honestly don't get it. either money have changed hands or the gaming industry is so bad, that ya'll will praise anything that doesn't bluescreen your computer. at review time I had 62.5 hours in this game... maybe 20 of them was actually PLAYING THE GAME!
AGUMON EVOLUCIO AAAA WARGREYMOOOAOAODOAGAOGAOGAOGAOGAOGAGOGA!!!
This Digimon game I knew it was similar to Dusk and Dawn when I saw Lunamon as one of the side characters that show ip in the beginning, so I got the game for that reason alone. This game has a lot of upsides and downsides. overall its a 7/10 when you unlock the data for the digimon you don't have to go back to homebase and unlock them. the digi skill tree is diverse, so you can play any style you want. The game could of been longer in my opinion. It was such a waste leaving the ending as it is. there was a lot of room for potential because of the side quests , which sucked because early in the game you are feinnin for more quests to level up your agent level but then after a certain part of the game you get like 200 side quests at the end to level up your agent level for no reason, so its like alright skip all this random bs.
I feel like I'm going crazy. I really struggled around the mid-point to find the motivation to continue playing, though I'm not in the habit of quitting games partway through, and people were singing praises about the plot and the characters in reviews. So on I went and boy almighty this game goes absolutely nowhere, and what ended up being a 50-hour slog to the final battle has left me with nothing but a hollow crevice inside my soul. The largest sin is front and center; It's boring. God is it boring. Going back to the same dungeons, the same areas again and again, listening to the same plot point being spun around in the same way by the same characters over and over and over again, frequently thirty seconds after the last time it was mentioned in gacha ass dialogue. Completing events, being sent back in time to do them again the 'right' way, then sitting through a cutscene explaining verbatim what you have *just* done. The plot is just BS piling up on more BS to try and make itself seem smart when it's full of holes from the jump, and it doesn't help how I didn't like a single character present, except
Merukimon, my love
. Call me miserable, but nothing in this game seemed worthwhile. Nobody really changed, nobody faces consequences that aren't subsequently reversed, even the baddies aren't baddies at all, everyone is just misguided and we all figure it out in the end, what joy. The player is no-one, yet they are everyone. Did you hear about the world-ending Shinjuku Inferno? RPG elements feel totally watered down, and they've swapped what I feel was relatively sensibly designed combat / growth systems in Cyber Sleuth for complex-for-complex's-sake, vapid and meaningless substitutes. I was really excited when I saw the personality stuff for the first time, anticipating what it would actually change about my Digimon, but on what felt like my 500th crawl across the grid, I realized... basically nothing. And that's a real shame. Boss fights were a particular point of contention for me here as I only found *one* to be fairly fun
(Plutomon, I could be convinced to also say Junomon)
, the rest were gimmick central, and unfun ones at that. It feels as though they were designed around the free turn heal spam stuff they've got going on, as bosses tend to absolutely fry you with AOE attack after AOE attack, A great majority of bosses being Virus types, again, was also a bit disappointing, but I understand the sentiment I guess. I don't know. I hate that I hate this game. It's like the tantalizing aroma of vanilla filling your house but as you make your way to the kitchen, whatever was baking in the oven is nowhere to be found.
