About
Ever wondered: “Could I escape prison with just a spoon?”
You wake up in the bottom floor of Alco-Trash - a grim, forgotten island prison with walls that crumble faster than the inmates. Your only companion is Blue, a voice from the toilet that promises freedom if you keep digging.
DIG YOUR WAY TO CONTRABAND AND FREEDOM
Every scrape of dirt brings you closer to the old sewer tunnels below. Along the way, you’ll find Contraband - all valuable in their own weird way. Trade your junk with Blue to unlock spoon schematics.
MODIFY YOUR SPOON TO SUIT YOUR DIGGING NEEDS
Dig faster, dig bigger, dig deeper, dig cooler - it's up to you!
Combine different types of Heads & Stems to turn your spoon into an absolute beast!
Will you tunnel straight down? Spiral out sideways? Grapple past toxic sludge? It’s your hole.
Reach the sewers, climb the ladder, and freedom is yours. Or is it? There’s always a catch in Alco-Trash.
There’s no timer, no alarms - just you, your spoon, and the dirty secret waiting at the bottom.
Wishlist: Digging a Hole... with a Spoon: Escape from Alcatraz now - your hole isn’t going to dig itself!

ITEM NAME game is legit unfinished don't buy
Another hole digging game, this has a tiny bit of story which is escaping. It's a undercooked game, the digging area is quite small compared to other games and the digging customization isn't well balanced. I had all of the upgrades before reaching the third level down. Game kind of needs more of everything.
It is true, the devs released the wrong version of the game for release. Turns out this game is very fun and has a lot of potential. Excited to see how involved the devs are with updating/fixing parts of the current game while also being excited for the future content!
Digging a Hole... with a Spoon... Escape from Alcatraz is a very short entry in the increasingly common “dig and escape” subgenre that’s been popping up on Steam and other platforms. Aside from a little story twist and the modding system that differentiates it from similar titles, there isn’t much content here. The core gameplay loop is fully demonstrated in the trailer, and the full experience can be seen in a single, short playthrough. To its credit, the game doesn’t over-promise. However, even accounting for its scope, it falls short compared to other games in the subgenre and the wider market. For that reason, I can’t recommend it.
What a fun game i enjoy it i love how you can see the spoon change compared to what equipment you have on :D and glad i escaped ;D
I enjoyed digging a hole...with a spoon...to escape from Alca-trash*. I hope we can turn off the music in a future update... There should be a way to increase your energy...without spending coin...theres a bed right there...
The game is finished. It's a little goofy, but fun. I didn't explore the entire area but i'm sure I missed some things. Overall I had a good time. My only recommendation would be to change the music up when you enter the last area in the game. All the cryptic messages didn't feel so cryptic when the fun/jazzy music was still playing
Pretty fun and relaxing game, a little janky but nothing game breaking. I really enjoyed the grappling mechanic, and having to optimize your spoon loadout was fun. I explored most of the digging segment but at a certain point it does become tedious going back and forth for more energy.
good game, i indeed used a spoon to dig, not sure how i feel about the colour blue anymore though
I played this for a good while, and I do like how unserious tis game can be some times. I recommended this to my friend, and he would buy it if he had the money. I think it has a lot of potential. So keep up the good work. My friend did say to add crouching btw
