why play this when you can just get a real retail/service job that makes you want to kill yourself just the same? peak dystopia to sit in your room and play a grindy dead end job simulator game

Its a great game overall its just such a wasted potential of including gender politics in this. Im sorry but if in a sci-fi setting therers no cure for this stupid "mechanicks" of "needing" to genderswapp is totally ruins the wibe of the game. Makes you lose money constantly buying drugs like i couknt live withouth it in real life, let alone in game, and worst of all, it ads zero content arround it other than being annoying. Im sad that this game has to be incuding this stupid idealogy when i just want to enjoy the wibes. Now i see why not many pepole playd this game.

What is this? Literally picking up garbage... garbage game. Boring and repetitive. I couldn't keep playing it after 10 minutes.

Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor is called an "anti-adventure" game because you don't engage in a great quest, with grand gameplay nor even an epic story. You are what the game tells you, a janitor, and most of the time will be spent cleaning trash and watching everyone on the city go on with their lives. You get paid for trash you burn, or you can even sell valuables found to the stores spread throughout town, and your so called 'anti-adventure' is the fact that you need to lift yourself of a curse by gathering the god's fetishes or doing favors to some specific NPCs. The main draw of the game is the cute aesthetic and catchy soundtrack, and social commentary is sprinkled here and there but I think such things are best experienced by playing the game first-hand. If you are interested in playing it, do so and ignore the rest of this text, if not, there's still some things I wanna talk about but if you're not gonna play it anyway there's no reason not to spoil it. Your janitor, while going on and about for its quest, will come across expensive weapons and armors being sold on stores, but your meager salary will never make you be able to afford one, because even when you work a lot you also need to use this money mostly to keep you alive with food and medicine and that felt like a gut punch to the little blue janitor(and ourselves). The only stat in the game, LUCK, can be accrued by praying to the gods and burning candles in their altars. But what does it change? Well, I don't know and I think nobody really does. It's as sketchy as this is in real life and a reminder to all the hopes we ever cling to when we see our dreams and aspirations. Near the end of the game you will need the help on an adventurer to lift your curse; however, they are the doing the big quests, not you, and the ending, one of the best I've ever seen, conceptually speaking, is the final blow to her idealism: as much as the character wants to, epic adventures with glory and fame were never meant for her.
