A strange murder has occurred in the Hotel Lisbon, a man committed suicide with 14 stabs to the back while at the same time he peacefully drank his coffee. This case with contradictory facts could only be solved by the amazing Detective Case and his sidekick, Clown Bot.

funny dialogue, great soundtrack, at least one good plot twist
Fun little point n' click adventure, corny humor is abundant.
funny and good
Murder in the Hotel Lisbon is a charming little point-and-click adventure that wins you over with its retro pixel art aesthetic and genuinely catchy jazz soundtrack, even if it stumbles in a few places. The premise — solving a suicide where the victim was stabbed 14 times in the back — sets the tongue-in-cheek tone perfectly, and the dynamic between the gruff Detective Case and the joke-spewing Clown Bot carries the whole experience. The interrogation mechanic, where you match evidence to questions and can even swap between the two protagonists mid-interview, is a clever twist on the genre that keeps things fresh. That said, the English translation is rough around the edges with noticeable typos and jokes that clearly lost something in the process — I got the sense this game is significantly funnier in Portuguese. At around 4-5 hours with the side quests, it's a brief but mostly enjoyable romp if you go in with the right expectations, though some of the humor does punch in directions that feel cheap rather than clever. Fans of old-school adventure games looking for something short and quirky will probably have a good time; just know you're not getting Monkey Island.
Its not a bad game, it just isn't worth paying for. Ran into a couple bugs but nothing that was a problem. The jokes are so bad in places I wouldn't know they were jokes if not for the characters/audience laughing. Interactions with characters have many broken paths, eg people suddenly having information they weren't told or repeating things in multiple choices. The three sidequests are pointless, doing them doesn't add anything interesting nor do they have rewards. Interrogating is straight up annoying, similar to the jokes, things didn't translate well, and many of the choices seem to be the exact same thing said slightly differently but only one choice is correct. If you fail any interaction beyond the first, you get kicked out and have to go through everything again just wasting a bunch of time. Even if you do everything correctly some of them can say "oops wrong character, do it again" tldr; it's bad but not terrible, just uninteresting and a time waster, 4/10 at full price, 5/10 free
+++ Gameplay: point&click based, with original variations on top +++ Funny and engaging story +++ Open-world (all locations accessible from the start and remain accessible) +++ Side quests and post-game content (side quests can be completed after main game ends) ++ Nice investigation ++ Mostly witty ++ Graphics (they're good and consistent with themselves, cartoon style) --- (I may be misinterpreting the devs' intentions, if devs read this please comment on this review!) Latent misogyny/homophobia/transphobia ? Or attempts at being inclusive (see below) I saw some reviews mention bugs. I haven't encountered any, besides two softlocks (couldn't move/interact) that were fixed by a simple save/reload. Other reviews mention typos. I noticed around 3 typos which is fine by me given the amount of text the game has (I'm pretty sure I read nearly all the text the game has to offer). About the "Latent mysoginy/homophobia/transphobia ?" above: For example I can't tell if the game makes jokes like "ahah men hugging each other are gay"
Specifically, during the interrogation of the bar manager, Manel, it is suggested as a pressing point about Bob being a woman that Bob wouldn't hug him if she wasn't a woman. And then Manel gets defensive. This feels like latent homophobia for two reasons: 1) there's nothing wrong/funny with men hugging so it shouldn't be a pressing point in the first place 2) there's nothing wrong/funny about homosexuality so it shouldn't be pictured as ridiculing Manel here You could argue "it's the characters' point of views not the devs'" but it just feels out of place. If it really is supposed to make fun of this kind of homophobia (latent homophobia), the game should call out the characters in some way. Don't let this be normalized.
Or I'm not sure how to interpret the transgender character. I don't think there's any evil attention with it, it feels more like the contrary, since the game doesn't make a huge deal of it at all. It even seems to be willing to portray denial and eventually acceptance by others. But
the sprite for that character (I'm talking about Bob btw if it wasn't obvious) is just so ridiculous I can't tell if it isn't supposed to mock transgenders in the end...
Misogyny though: Misogynist jokes:
as an example among others, I think this is from the stand-up mini-game, "why does an ox moo when a cow passes by ... because it can't whistle" (and the game says this is funny), while I find it funny it also weirds me out because it normalizes / is based on whistling females being commonplace, which it should not be. Leave women in peace please
The women characters:
One is a secretary (Mary Filomen something), the other is an escort girl (Mrs Star), the other is portrayed as a pin-up (Mrs Love) Devs, you couldn't afford to make some other characters female? Also Mrs Love for having many lovers has the characters calling her "slut", like, no, I don't even know what to say, just no. This strengthens the toxic "myth" "woman who wants sex = slut, but man who wants sex = manly" like wtf Oh also Mrs Love is litterally the worst character in the game with having her (much older) husband killed for money and fleeing the lover she manipulated into doing the killing. Nice depiction. Ofc this would be fine by itself had there not been all the other hints of misogyny I've noted, it's just a nail in the coffin to me
That said I really liked the game. I am willing to believe the devs didn't mean the things to be interpreted this way, but see the thing with *latent* homophobia/etc is you don't realize it is insulting to some, because it's deeply ingrained in your education/behavior/environment.
It's quite original in the sense that it gives off a different vibe when compared to other indie games. You can see and sense that Portuguese culture from time to time and the characters' interaction is like reading a nice funny comic from that country. Es bastante original en el sentido de que ofrece un ambiente distinto comparado con otros juegos indie. Se puede ver y sentir esa cultura portuguesa de vez en cuando y la interacción de personajes recuerda a los personajes de un cómic divertido de ese país.
This game is.... bad. It attempts to create a retro styled adventure game and does reach this goal at least if you avoid staring at any of the characters or reading their speech. While its backgrounds are passable, the spirte-work, writing and jokes are lacking. I can't really bring myself to finish the game, and I have no desire to continue it despite my love for adventure games.
