Thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough of the first mission. Excited to see more content be released for it. The depth of the characters in your squad is really cool to see as you unravel what makes them tick, and what issues they are dealing with on a personal level. The politics in the world that they have crafted is also really interesting and makes you really think about your decisions on how to best handle each situation.
I love the game, but unfortunaly atm it barely early acces but more like a demo with only 5 missions you play so atm it's not worth the 8,99€ it cost but I'll keep it and hope more contenmt is added soon.... ----------------------------- Updated after update, august 2023 I wouldnt call this a major Update Basickly it adds 1 mission to the game, expanding episode 1 from 5 to 6 missions and still 3 side quests so still not a lot of content, and you can proberly play through all missions in less then 2 hours that said, the new mission looks good and is well written - so defently a nice update so can only hope we get a lot more missions like that one added to the game, and that some of the choices you made in the first missions starts to make a difrence in what you can do in some of those missions
Game is bugged, devs seem to have left the project and they leave here on steam as it is hoping people will buy it. Check forum if this game will be supported in the future but DO NOT BUY IT NOW. Really.
"Destiny’s Sword is a very promising project that I’m eager to see more of. I’ll definitely be keeping a close eye on its development and will review it in full when the game launches in the future. I wish the developers luck in their endeavors in the continued development of the game." Full Preview: https://dailygamebytes.wordpress.com/2022/10/19/destinys-sword-preview/
I can't recommend the game, most prominently because it is story-focused, and the writers don't understand some very simple concepts of English or biology. The writers refer to singular individuals as 'they' and 'their,' sometimes intentionally pretending the person has no gender, and alternatively, just because they're being lazy. 'They' is never used for a singular individual. 'They' is meant to refer to multiple people. If you're looking for a singular gender-neutral pronoun because the sex of the person is unknown, you would use 'he'; otherwise, you would refer to the person according to their sex. There is no such thing as a 'personal pronoun'; pronouns are never personal. It doesn't matter whether you're sexing a human, goat, or hamster. This is basic.
its cute, but theres nothing much here, feels abandoned
An interesting premise and a good start, but in need of some tweaks before it can realise its potential. Such is the nature of early access. As it is, this is a fairly unique narrative-focused game that has promise. Some suggestions for the devs: -Spellcheck please -Slow down the team's in-mission dialogue - it's often off screen before it can be read -Please fix being able to repeat the same conversations over and over post-mission -The AI assistant's window obscures the ship section tooltips - might want to put the tooltips on top -May want to give some indication of mission objectives before the mission is over. Either that or call the star rating system something else, like 'mission performance'
different game mechanics , complex characters , choices matter, devs needs more time on the story, and few bugs fixes, right now a person could be down with it in about 1 hour, i do think 2023 might be a better time i do think eag price is fine as long as they keep the story moving.
Woke garbage with feminine looking male characters and masculine looking female characters with all the they and them pronouns included, silly, Unattractive game.
This is a tentative recommendation as there is very little in the game right now for the cost. That said there is a solid foundation here with a promising future. Let's start with the pros: The story and world are interesting if you are a lover of sci-fi but it is more of a taste than a meal. Whether the quality can maintain itself over a long stretch of time is yet to be seen The art and sounds are all very good The conversation system and dialogue all feel very authentic and didn't break my immersion. Characters reacted realistically and there were even a few moments that I actually found myself connecting to the characters. I just wish there was more. There is a section near the end of the current EA missions where there are two topics that are explored and gotten to the bottom of through multiple back and forth conversations. This was a real treat as it really felt like I had to "walk between people" and get multiple sides to the story to find the truth. More of this in future would be welcomed. The med-bay section was very well done. It felt tense despite the injured parties not being people I really knew. If this system is used later on with actual members of the squad that can die based off your choices this could be a real highlight feature of the game. That tension is hard to capture but there is real potential there. As for the cons: The first few missions left a bit to be desired. They were very short and the consequences felt relatively minor. I would hope as the game went on they got a lot more punishing and I really hope this game isn't afraid to let characters die and cycle in new characters to replenish the squad. I want to feel anxious about the safety of my team in every mission. Otherwise I get more out of something like XCOM. If we are not able to play out the combat and die (like XCOM) then I need to feel my choices do matter to their safety. The character roster is small. They have a lot of depth and potential but it makes me worry about how far this team can go to produce a sizeable enough roster to that same quality. I am hopeful as with a lack of voice acting they could make more and more characters without worrying about VA costs, but that looks like a lot of work. There are a few spelling mistakes and bugs. Easily fixable before release. The UI of the character sheets and relationships is a bit ugly. Things aren't very clear or easily understood. And finally... this should have been free. There's no beating around the bush. Had this been a free demo with the option to preorder at the end I would feel a lot better about this. But because they charge for what is essentially a demo's worth of content I do have some apprehension about this game's future. If the dev team believes this limited amount of content is worth the price they are asking I worry how much exactly they believe will be enough for a finished product. It does not feel like enough for a Spring 2023 release. I would honestly be more optimistic if their targeted full release was a year from now. If possible I would like the devs to be more upfront and transparent about exactly how much content they expect to have in this game at release. If you have the disposable income for this then go for it. If you have to be conservative with your spending pass on this for now but keep an eye on it. There is real potential for something special here.
