Cook for Love is a casual and repetitive type of point and click game that has that cozy feel to it and can be beaten in under 3 hours. All of your actions take place in the kitchen using Clement, a young up and coming chef who is tasked with running a restaurant for a period of time. Some of the recipes seem to have missing ingredients in them to keep the game simpler. There is not much difference between the recipes, for example you may make 4 different versions of ice cream sundaes but its basically the same process in making them. There are small dialogues with individuals who eat at the restaurant but nothing too interesting. The brief breaks between some recipes with the dialogues in the restaurant do add to the enjoyment of the game though. This game suffers from a few issues. $16 in the steam store is too much for a game of this quality. The achievements are extremely buggy. I only got 9/20 when it should have been 100% completion. With a few of the milkshakes I followed the recipe exactly and got the +1 for it but when it showed me the recipe path a few had red X's on it like I did something wrong. The gameplay is a bit too boring and unimaginative. I thought the art backgrounds were done well inside the restaurant. I wasn't a fan of the initial song. It wasn't horrible but it felt overplayed after a short time. The soundtrack after that was a good one though. It gave me SimCity from SNES type of vibes, so well including that soundtrack. I'm giving this a negative review. At times it was monotonous and other times I sort of enjoyed it. I was interested in seeing the patrons reactions to the recipes and their everyday conversations. If the achievements were not buggy and it cost less money it would be a positive for me even with unimaginative gameplay. For what it is worth out of all of the games I've left not recommended reviews for this one is better than most of them. Edit 3-4-2025 The achievements have been fixed which is nice. Cook For Love is really not bad but I'm going to stay with not recommended primarily because $15.99 is too much to pay for this game. If it was like a $4.99 base price and on a sale it would be worth picking up if you enjoy a casual cooking game with a cozy feel to it.

Ive been waiting to try Cook For Love, mostly because the reviews are all over the place. The artwork tho? completely won me over, and was the reason i decided to finally give it at go. The gameplay is very simple, and so are the recipes! Alot of dishes to make, but after a while they do start to feel a little repetitive. I dont wanna lie, i did get a bit bored halfways through. The thing that kept me going was unlocking the finished dish illustrations. They are really cute, and I found myself thinking, "Just one more recipe... I need to see what the next one will look like!" (I also took SO many screenshots lmao) The game only took me about 2.5 hours to get 100% achievements, though ive seen friends finish it anywhere between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. Now... About the price....... 15.79 euro?! plus there is DLCs? They arent necessary (Thank god) but for that price? You could at least have added the 'colorful stove' DLC lmao If steam would let me leave a neutral review, I probably would. It is definitely a cute little cozy game, and if you get it on a good! sale, I think you will have a couple of relaxing hours with it. But at full price, I do really not recommend it. AT ALL.
Cook For Love is a blend of a light cooking game mixed with a wholesome and cozy narrative.
The Story & Gameplay
Your mentor in the culinary arts, Jean-Luc, has gone away on an urgent matter and left you in charge of his restaurant in Paris. He’s left you a handful of notes and all the tools you’ll need to start creating your masterpieces in the kitchen. The gameplay is very simple, pick up and drag your ingredients onto your plates or in your bowl and go from station to station prepping your items or cooking them before eventually serving them. The recipes are simple to start but involve more steps as you advance.
Settings & Features
Settings & features include; display and resolution options, cursor size, language and audio controls.
Tips
🔹 To make ice or if a food needs to be served cold like Gazpacho then put the item in the fridge or freezer and go to a different screen (the timer won’t advance if you stay in the same screen for some reason).
Things I Would Add or Change
🔸 I wish there was just a list of stations you could pick from posted on the side of your screen rather than having to cycle through every screen to get to one. Scrolling back and forth when you have 8 stations gets tedious. You can go directly to the pantry or the serving station but to be able to go directly to any station would be so much more efficient. 🔸 I wish we could garnish or decorate our recipes before serving. I think that is the part that is missing the most. The toppings and garnishes appear in the artwork once served but we do not get to actually embellish the dishes ourselves.
Overall Experience
I have seen the other reviews for this game and some have issues with the time vs cost aspect of the game. Personally I do find the game at full price to be too much but not due to time. This game is more simple in terms of the cooking part than I think people expect, and truthfully the store page maybe hypes up the cooking part to be more than it actually is. It is not highly immersive if what you're looking for is the cooking element. A lot of the cooking process is simplified with many real life steps needed to make these foods eliminated, not to mention you do not get to garnish or decorate any of the foods or drinks. Despite being simplified I enjoy this game and I think if you know what the game is going in then you can decide if it is for you or not. This game, being not as immersive, and having a narrative element to it makes it more approachable to a wider audience and to younger gamers. There are some quality of life features I would certainly change but on the whole if you can get this game for a reasonable sale price (like the current Summer sale) then I think the cost, time and play factor makes for an enjoyable experience. 🍳

Follow IndieGems for more reviews like this one. Meu sincero, obrigada.
While it is a cozy game and the graphics are really cute, the gameplay is just too boring to enjoy it. It's very repetitive, and the dialogue didn't catch me. Can't recommend, sorry.
Winning the hearts of Parisians. ^^

Introduction
Cook For Love is a cozy, relaxing cooking game developed and published by RedDeer.Games. You take on the role of Clement, a promising young chef in Paris who's left in charge of the city's popular restaurant after his mentor, Jean-Luc, goes on a journey aboard the Orient Express. However, Clement is left with his mentor's recipe cook, and this is when his skills are put to the test. Can he become the brilliant chef that he's meant to be? As for the gameplay, you follow a series of steps from grabbing ingredients to mixing and cooking them to finally plating the finished dishes. Both mouse and controller are supported, and for review purposes, I used my mouse. You click and drag items, and at times, you may have to hold the left mouse button until a timer goes off to indicate that the blender is finished and whatnot. Also, there is the danger of some items being overcooked or frozen for too long if left unattended. In addition, several Steam achievements are present, but they won't count towards a user's global total until the game is out of "profile features limited".
Review
Cook For Love caught my interest way back when it was first released on Steam, and thanks to the wonderful people at RedDeer.Games, I was given a review key to check out this game. However, it is only now that I'm getting around to it due to some Steam achievements having been broken until somewhat recently. First, the story is sweet. The beginning doesn't go on for too long, with the game simply narrating that Jean-Luc has gone off on his trip. However, Clement isn't alone. He has help from neighbors in getting the restaurant up and running, and they donate kitchen utensils and even contribute to recipes and improving the restaurant's appearance. I love this feeling of people working together and helping one another. Also, in between completing recipes, there are brief comic book style panel scenes in which the various Parisian residents talk about what's going on with their lives. I enjoyed reading these cute side stories that are additional to the main story of Clement becoming a talented chef. Of course, the main focus is the gameplay. I found it to be fun although initially, a bit confusing at first. Since I had to rely mostly on pictures (no written instructions) to follow a recipe, I had to figure out which knobs would work for certain areas of the stove and all that. It's a bit of trial-and-error but definitely doable. As you master a recipe, Clement's reputation will increase, getting him one step closer to becoming a master chef. As of the time of this review, all of the achievements are obtainable even though it was only recently that this became the case. (I believe a lot of negative reviews are because of previously broken achievements.) If you plan out your playthrough carefully, you can obtain them all in one. However, I went through two playthroughs since I was missing a few hidden achievements that required a bit of grinding. With the art, it has this lovely hand-drawn style that gives off a cozy, comforting feeling. The sprites and backgrounds are drawn well and the colors feel soft. Especially, the dishes of food look so delicious to the point of being mouthwatering. XD https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3472086532 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3472086676 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3472086310 In regards to the music, the tracks are relaxing and fun to listen to. They give off that vibe that you're in a Parisian restaurant, and they're the perfect accompaniment as you're going about to prepare dishes. No voice acting is present, but I don't think it's necessary in order to immerse yourself in the game.
Conclusion
Would I recommend Cook For Love? If you're looking for a cozy, cooking game that you can just have fun and relax and/or you want to get those Steam achievements, then it's worth taking a look. I will say that you may complete the game fairly quickly. It took me around 2 hours to complete one playthrough, so based on the asking price, it might be a bit pricey. However, you can always wait for a sale, and it's in a Steam bundle. Finally, I want to give a major thank you to RedDeer.Games for the review key. It was such a delight to play the game and cook all those wonderful dishes while following a lovely story. ^^
For more detailed, fully complete, high quality reviews like this, please follow The Introverted Gamer, prioritizing heart and soul always. ^^
While it's obvious this game was made with a lot of love, the quality is not nearly worth the price tag they've set it at. Gameplay The main problem of the game is the gameplay. While it boasts having a goal of being a master chef, all you do in the game is move one or two ingredients from location A to location B, clicking once in a while. It doesn't require skill. It's incredibly mundane. I was expecting more gameplay focused on the deeper aspects of cooking, or even some slicing with skill required. None of that. Story While I wasn't expecting Shakespeare, the biggest part of the story sequences that throws me off is the writing. For some reason, they decide to put the parts that should be in narration (descriptive text not assigned to any character) in the parentheses within the characters' lines. (Girl: (astonished) Can we do that? <- Not a direct quote, but basically the gist). Music While I'm not positive, the music seems to be royalty free music, and it's not looped. I suppose it's due to their budget, but it's a shame. This should not be the price it is. Maybe $5 would be acceptable, but not the price it is now.
é um jogo muito fofo mas simples! eu joguei aos pouquinhos para não enjoar da mecânica, então apreciei ele com calma. para crianças é um jogo super divertido, meus alunos amam jogar no intervalo =^.^=
The game overall is a cute and relaxing cooking game with a charming art style and cozy atmosphere. I really like the adorable characters, bright colors, and relaxing music. However, the gameplay becomes repetitive very quickly. Most of the time, you are just picking up ingredients and moving them around. There isn't much actual cooking, and the recipes do not change much as you continue playing. I was hoping for more variety and more things to unlock, but the dishes started to feel very similar.
