スマホアプリとして昔から認知していたゲームで、Steam版の存在も数年前から知っていた。エンドレスに地形が生成される2Dのゴルフゲームが無性にやりたくなったためSteamを探していたが、他に良さげなものがなかったので今日仕方なく購入。 スクリーンショットの通りの内容で、ボールに回転をかけることなどはできず何ならオプションもない(一応全画面切り替えはできる)。物理演算も適当で、坂道の途中でもボールの速度が0になると止まる。 某スイカやパイナップルのゲームみたいな感じで、単に流行ったから流行っただけのものだと思っていたが、購入前にプレイ動画を見たり購入して遊んでみたりすると意外と気づきがあった。 このゲームを遊んでいると妙に落ち着いた気分になる。自分がパソコンに向かって今ゲームをしているということを自覚する余地が常に提供されるため、もしかするとマインドフルネス的な効果が少しあるのではと思う。 あと、このゲームは消費できないので、ためらいなく遊べる。もしこのゲームに砂漠以外の様々な場所があったなら、それらの場所を一周した時点でこのゲームは消費されたことになる。一周を長くしても、それは冗長になってしまうはずだ。このゲームは内容を極限まで削ぎ落とすことで、それ自体を消費されにくくしていることに成功しているのかもしれない。 スコアがパーからの差とかではなく全体のショットの合計の表示のみになっているのも、射幸心を煽られすぎることがなく好印象。 色んなものに飽きてしまいそうな人には逆にわりと向いているかもしれない。

One of my favorite games from IOS back then, glad this is still available and on computers. (It is also on the NES as a homebrew known as NESert Golfing) I also recommend it's sequel Golf on Mars It is just as good. I have a lot of nostalgia for desert golf from my childhood. Putt in the seemingly endless random generated deserts and turn off your mind. The terrain can generate in very interesting/unique patterns to traverse. Occasionally see some cacti or a body of water. Just small details to keep you playing and wonder what the next course could be. The physics and satisfaction of doing well on a course never gets old for me. It's such a simple but very satisfying little game that I can play for hours on end. A perfect small game for just relaxing and or just as a thing when you're bored. Genuinely one of my favorite games to play when i'm depressed or not enjoying life to the fullest. Has helped me turn off my mind a lot the past 8 years I've played it. Going to try to reach the end this time since I've played it a lot but still haven't hit the last hole. 10/10

A simple, relaxing game. Nice to play absentmindedly for a bit, for me it was almost meditative. 95% of the time levels will be simple and easy, and the other 5% of the time it can require a lot of planning and skill. If you're looking for a small time waster, you can't get much smaller than this. The game technically "ends" after a huge number of holes, but it took me a lot of time and effort to reach that point. Completion is by no means necessary, and there doesn't seem to be any increase in difficulty over time.

Simple

It's definitely worth a couple bucks. I'm surprised this game doesn't get more attention. It's very simple, but it can induce both rage and hysterical joy within a few minutes.
