Damn, that was boring. i though the dere exe game was some very good horror game with all the vid that i saw but that just a boring platformer, most of the time hard for nothing, the scare feel very "cheap" and not that great, its almost all the time the same things. i don't recommend.
Очень понравилось что обучение здесь в виде аудио, а не в десятках разбросанных табличек. И что не нужно собирать монетки.
DERE EVIL .EXE is a striking fusion of precision platforming and psychological horror developed by Darius Immanuel Guerrero and published by AppSir Games. On the surface, it presents itself as a nostalgic side-scrolling platformer inspired by classic console games of the 16-bit era, but beneath that familiar exterior lies a deliberately unsettling experience that constantly challenges the player’s expectations. The game is not content with merely testing reflexes; it also aims to disturb, confuse, and provoke unease through its meta-narrative approach and oppressive atmosphere. The core gameplay revolves around guiding a silent knight known as Knightly through a series of hostile environments filled with traps, hazards, and corrupted enemies. Movement is tight and deliberate, demanding precise jumps, careful timing, and a strong sense of rhythm. Every mistake is punished quickly, often forcing players to replay sections until muscle memory and spatial awareness are perfected. This masocore-inspired design makes progression feel earned rather than given, and while the difficulty can be intimidating, it is carefully tuned to reward patience and persistence. Success brings a genuine sense of accomplishment, especially after overcoming sections that initially feel overwhelming. What elevates DERE EVIL .EXE beyond a standard retro platformer is how it weaves horror directly into both its mechanics and presentation. The game avoids relying on cheap jump scares, instead opting for a slow-burning psychological tension that seeps into the experience over time. Visual glitches, unsettling messages, and moments where the game appears to break its own rules blur the line between narrative and gameplay. The story unfolds in fragments, often through direct addresses to the player or cryptic commentary that suggests the game itself is aware of your presence. This self-referential structure creates a constant sense of unease, as players are never entirely sure whether what they are seeing is part of the level design or something more intrusive. The pixel art aesthetic plays a major role in establishing tone. Bright colors and familiar platforming visuals initially evoke nostalgia, but these elements are gradually twisted into something darker and more threatening. Environments become increasingly distorted, enemies take on more grotesque forms, and subtle visual changes reinforce the idea that the game world is unstable. The contrast between charming retro visuals and disturbing themes is one of the game’s most effective tools, turning comfort into discomfort as familiarity gives way to dread. Sound design further amplifies this atmosphere. Music shifts between eerie chiptune melodies and more ominous, distorted tracks that heighten tension during key moments. Audio cues are often used to signal danger or impending narrative twists, conditioning the player to associate certain sounds with fear or uncertainty. Silence is also used deliberately, creating moments where the absence of music makes the environment feel empty and hostile, reinforcing the sense of isolation that defines much of the experience. Narratively, DERE EVIL .EXE is ambitious for its genre. Rather than telling a straightforward story, it presents a layered meta-narrative that explores themes of control, creation, and corruption. Characters occasionally break the fourth wall, addressing the player directly and questioning their role in the unfolding events. This approach won’t resonate with everyone, but for players who enjoy experimental storytelling, it adds significant depth and memorability. The story is intentionally cryptic, encouraging interpretation and discussion rather than offering clear answers. The game’s difficulty curve is a frequent topic of discussion among players. Some sections demand near-perfect execution, and repeated failures can be frustrating, especially for those unaccustomed to precision platformers. However, this harshness aligns closely with the game’s themes, reinforcing the idea of being trapped in a hostile system that offers little mercy. For players willing to embrace this design philosophy, the challenge becomes part of the horror, making each victory feel like a small act of defiance against the game itself. Overall, DERE EVIL .EXE stands out as a bold and memorable indie title that successfully blends retro platforming with psychological horror and meta storytelling. Its demanding gameplay, unsettling atmosphere, and self-aware narrative create an experience that feels both nostalgic and deeply uncomfortable in equal measure. While its difficulty and unconventional storytelling may not appeal to everyone, players who appreciate challenging platformers and experimental horror will find a game that lingers in the mind long after the final stage is complete. It is a testament to how classic mechanics can be reimagined to deliver something genuinely unsettling and unique. Rating: 8/10

Eskiden oynadığım çok güzel bi oyundu :')
It's a fun idea even though the execution is sloppy. It has a lot of problems, the first being that the game requires a code to unlock a plugin that you don't actually even need except to hear some of the audio. The code is only four digits so I brute forced it and all the audio worked fine except the audio to test it. Deliberate attempt by the developer to mess with the player? Possible, but that's what's cool about meta-games like this. This game is for the most part easy but has a few deceptively tricky parts. The story is the "haunted girl" nonsense you've seen in 1,000 games but there's at least some little twists to it and I like games where if they crash you don't know if it's a game-breaking glitch or just the developer deliberately messing with you. There's also quite a bit of variety, but the game only takes under around an hour to 90 minutes to complete. I give it a positive rating because the music was great and it cost less than a dollar.
I enjoyed this. More, please. :D
This game made me cry. Having played it via APK since I was very young without knowing English was incredible. I didn't understand anything, but I loved every single mechanic in the game. But now that I've played it, translating everything, all I can say is that this game is beautiful. And finally being able to support the developer by buying this game makes me very happy. Greetings from Argentina
