Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 4/day in the week to Jul 21 → 28.4/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
Drive massive trains across beautiful, challenging landscapes. Deliver cargo between industries, spread over an open world. Earn money, buy new licenses and advance your career as a train engineer, all in seamless, emergent experience. For PC and VR.

256 km² of unrestricted open world, where you can walk or drive trains uninterrupted. Covered in rich vegetation, landscape, water bodies, and an extensive railroad network, the world spans numerous diverse industries and towns. Experience seamless day and night cycles, with dynamic clouds, fog, rain and sounds spicing it all up. Change switches, drive, haul and leave trains at desired locations - the choice is yours.

Advance your career by taking deliveries and earning money. Master efficient driving and look after vehicles to minimize fuel and repair costs. Buy new items and licenses that grant you access to more vehicles and orders. Optionally, you can also play in sandbox mode where economy is not in focus - where you can just have fun doing anything you want without consequences.

Take part in a dynamic industrial chain, where deliveries are procedurally generated for more than 80 cargo types. The output of locations varies, and almost no two deliveries are the same. Haul cargo between industries, or do the shunting and logistics that help the stations create more deliveries. Pick orders and move cargo as desired, according to your own plans, licensing and hauling capacity.

Experience in-depth intricacies of six realistic, accurate steam and diesel locomotive classes with varying transmission types, plus some extra vehicles. Through behavior, sounds, physics and interaction, their characteristics are designed to fully immerse and challenge you. On top of that, you'll find yourself spontaneously involved in coupling, servicing, brake securing, shunting and other railroad procedures.

As a side activity, you may find yourself investing time and money finding and restoring unique locomotive variant derelicts, which you can then customize with numerous useful gadgets. Gadgets are various devices that can improve driving performance, such as digital speedometers, clinometers, colored ambient lights, distance trackers, etc. You can buy them in shops and install them wherever you want, using various tools.

Built from the ground up for both PC and VR, Derail Valley lets you experience it spatially present with the supported mainstream PC VR devices - truly inside the simulator and using your own hands to operate the controls. This is the ultimate, closest experience to being a real railroader! You can seamlessly alternate your progress between the PC and VR sessions, as you prefer.

Be it a derailment, collision, blown traction motor, boiler explosion, brake failure, HAZMAT disaster or even something as mild as wheelslip on a rainy slope, Derail Valley doesn't just present you with a popup screen when you make a mistake - you get to experience the full consequences of your actions, even if they're a rare occurrence.
Whether you are new to trains or an experienced veteran, the game features tutorials that are quick to get you going. A comprehensive user manual also exists, for when you want to dive deep into the details.

Worked my way up to the DE6; spent a whole in-game day shunting far too many orders amounting to 2000t+ of cargo into a line so long, my DE6 was nearly up the west hill exiting the harbour from the north-most station. I realised I was likely going to need a little boost for the first hill out of harbour heading towards the steel mill, to drop off the first carriages of ~600t of scrap metal, then I'd be in the clear. I knew it would maaaaybe make it - I've cheesed similar loads up there solo before. But I'd really overcooked it this time so I thought I just needed a teeeeeeenny little extra kick, to make life a bit easier. In comes an unfortunate DE2, it was "just" the little boost I thought I needed. I didn't want to burn too much cash going over the top now did I? I put it in-between the DE6 and 2000t+ of over-optimistic committal. It worked beautifully; I just about crested the summit at a blistering 5kph and slowly inched my way to my first stop. Full-throttle, no problems. Gradient gradually flattens, then down into a nice -1% nearly all the way to the steel mill. All was well. Or so I thought. Funny... During the first incline... the TM temperature didn't seem to be in the yellow to begin with, but the over-temp light was on? Never-mind probably a bug or something. It did then go yellow, then red, but I managed it accordingly. No, my friends. Alas, the early flashing was not a bug. For I had forgotten about that poor, poor, DE2 who was forced into matching the DE6's throttle input. I couldn't hear or see it. It was silently suffering. Full throttle or die. Well. It died. I don't know exactly when, but I don't think you need to think too hard about it. I made it to the Steel Mill, and dumped it's sorry *** with the cargo. I didn't need it anymore - I was now 600 tons lighter and back within safe realms. £34k made for that short haul, tyvm. An easy trip once you have the towing power and a good money maker for the earlier game. I don't even know how much I made in total at the end; there were 3 x Hazmat 2 loads for Food Factory and some cars and fragile stuff for City West, some fuel, then some empty logistic hauls to pack out weight for Machine Factory. Probably made over $250k? ish? To be honest, I did it for the experience. I had the DE6, I as basically a god now. The DE2 cost a fair amount to repair, but it was minor compared to the profit. You wanna know something? I'd do it all again. If it wasn't for then getting the DE6 slug. Much easier. This game lets you do whatever you want, however you'd like to. So long as you're ready to pay the price for the licences and "servicing" [*cough* total loss *cough*] costs... It's also quite a beautiful game, and immersive as well both in and out of VR. My only complaint is the AO maps are baked; but you can see where it's been baked with levers in certain positions so when you move them there's a weird out of place shadow. When you see it you can't unsee it. You're welcome. I don't even like trains that much. 11/10 best random purchase that's accidentally become one of my favourite games.

Das spiel ist der wahnsinn und macht so viel spass. Man kann so viel alleine machen echt ein spass.es gibt zwar ein paar verbesserungen die unternommen werden müssen aber das regelt sich von alleine
This is a masterpiece. The first thing that came to mind about what to compare this simulator/game to was to far cry 2. I think saying that Derail Valley is the Far Cry 2 of train simulation games would be accurate. The world is just waiting to be explored. Nothing physically stops you from going out and doing whatever you want, aside from licenses you have to buy when advancing in the game. Driving the locomotives is great fun, the controls feel physical and realistic. The game is beautiful - the graphics are amazing and the scenery is perfect. You find yourself looking on 3rd view how your train crosses a bridge over water without noticing you miss a turn or being to fast and derailing. The fact that it's in early access should not scare you - this game is more finished then most AAA games coming out in the recent years. The devs keep adding more features to this gem of a game, the support and love is phenomenal. Most importantly, the fun factor. I found myself just being sucked into the game completely - hours just pass when you want to do a job before the time bonus expires. This is a 10/10.
好玩 就是没NPC感觉很孤独
war mir zu viel, schraube hier - klebe da...
Best cargo train sim IMO. Game can be challenging but it tells you everything you should know to play even if you don't have any experience in those types of games
