What is a game but a miserable pile of bad decisions...such an odd game...it just fails at what makes a game fun. The platforming starts out frustrating and settles into tedious... The combat "looks" cool but just feels...off...and encourages avoidance... There is no true sense of progressing. It just feels like you're pushing further while spinning your wheels at the same time. Equipping stat boosting items quickly falls into irrelevance once you realize that inventory management becomes a chore...the game gives you limited inventory then gluts you with middling items that sometimes literally materialize in your path...then tasks you with grinding them into dust ONE BY ONE to make room and to create a different type of currency to buy questionably better items... It's actually difficult to properly describe what makes playing this game...tedious? Best way I can put it is...you will be traveling along hitting every jump and somehow almost zen like hitting enemies...you were not even looking to attack...then one odd miscalculated jump will lead to you bonking around platforms and enemies whiffing hits, jumps and falling the entirety of a vertical shaft like area ending up being pinballed by enemies to death...yeah... so why am I not giving in a thumbs down? Making a game is hard work...and it is easy to sit and berate a dev's mistakes. But a lot of time, effort and passion is put into completing a game... So try it out and make your own conclusions...
Pretty cool, not very fun. I'd still pay these devs any day over buying AAA slop like bloodlines 2
Works great on Steam Deck although the default layout takes some getting used to, and can be customized in-game if you dont like the default. A decent Metroidvania game with light brawler/fighter mechanics and a just-okay 2nd player experience that elevate it from the mediocre story and repetitive exploration. If you havent played Symphony of the Night, try that first and come back to this game if you love that genre and want to explore Metroidvanias further.
TLDR: Diamond in the rough gothic-metroidvania with ****ing ghosts. Literally, ****ing ghosts. First things first, the controls... you may hate them to begin with. Look around at the reviews and you'll see this is the primary complaint of most negative reviews. You'll also notice that a majority of these reviews have less than 2-3 hours into the game. What does this mean when the rest of the reviews are positive? It means that as you become more and more familiar with how the game controls and plays, things become pretty smooth. Are there still some strict expectations for platforming on some screens? Yes, and it's also not too frequent that this is the case. It also means that most reviewers haven't experienced enough to adequately comment on the game. Take a look at the global achievements and you'll see that only about 7% of players have gotten the most basic of achievements. Give it a solid three to four hours before making a judgment and play on easy if you're concerned about difficulty. There are some positives about the control scheme, too. If you've overlooked the value of basic attacks in a traditional 2D fighter, you may feel like the four button attacks here are useless. In reality, they do serve their different purposes. Some of your four basic attack buttons are good for quick close strikes, some are better as anti-air attacks, some are better against short yoda-sized enemies, some are good for poke attacks where you want to keep your distance. Once you have it down, it's quite nice. And, of course, there are special attacks achieved with classic fireball type motions that add some extra flair. This isn't the first metroidvania to use a 2D fighter control scheme, but it's actually been my favorite with that. Likely because the variety of basic attacks are useful and the focus isn't just on flashy specials. The main draw here is that this is a gothic metroidvania. Who doesn't want more of that if it's done well? And it is done well here. Most of the visuals are fantastic. Some of the character art is a little lacking. A mixed bag, but try to avoid judging it harshly as this is really a labor of love that shines at its core and has a lot to offer with enjoyable environments, exploration, and some really dark only-appropriate-for-adults H-scenes that remind me, in visual tone, of a cross between Castlevania and the original Diablo. It is challenging even aside from the controls. Skill or grinding are a must to advance along. There's lots of secrets. Backtracking as needed feels pretty good. Music gets the job done. The minimal plot and variety of characters are interesting enough that I wanted more. There's enough secrets and challenging unique enemies that there's a nice amount of endgame after the final boss. My understanding is that sequels are planned. There is some AI that's exploitable for grinding that would hopefully be tightened up in a follow up game, and the system for harvesting materials from items needs an upgrade so it's not tedious. Regardless, I'd definitely be there for a new entry.

O jogo é uma verdadeira bagunça com uma jogabilidade terrível. Ruim/Fraco
This game is simply a masterpiece. Everything about her is perfect. Graphics, animation, gameplay. I'm in love with this game!
I wanted to like this game, but I just don't. It's a solid base for a game, but I have my doubts it will address the issues I don't like. The music is painful to listen to, and crazy repetitive. I normally wouldn't even comment on the music, but it gives me physical pain in my ears. It's just icky. Music aside, it's the controls that make it so unpleasant to play. Weird as hell decisions like using Y to close menus. This would be ok if remapping worked well, but it doesn't. If you choose a different control scheme all of the in game tutorials use the standard layout, meaning you can't actually do the moves in game along with the tutorial. This game just feels clunky and unsatisfying to play. It's a good IDEA. It's a bad GAME.
The 0.2 hours you see spent playing this are entirely due to trying to get this to work with 5 different controllers, and none of them working. Magically, my 6th controller, a SteelSeries wireless controller started to work after sitting fort 30 seconds at the title screen. But then I got to the control scheme and lol....left trigger to jump? No thanks.
