Much in the same way that DF2 was just extra content for DF1, Task Force Dagger is just extra content for Land Warrior. It has some of the most unique mission objectives in the series thus far, but otherwise is business as usual. On top of the recoil introduced in Land Warrior, this entry brings about weapon sway, which can be reduced by going prone, and the almost non-existent bullet dropoff from Land Warrior has been reversed so that it’s now even more intense than it was in the original game. While I do think this change was for the better, tracers have also been visually overhauled so that they’re now practically invisible at range, making it quite difficult to eliminate distant targets. I think overall, I’d place this as my second favourite entry to the series. It doesn’t have the same annoying difficulty spike that the middle two games did, but it’s not as visually appealing as the first instalment.
TORA BORA TORA BORA The weakest entry in the franchise but still okay for a weekend if you're an older gentleman of course
Engine, sounds, and weapons are improved. Campaign missions are flawed. The positives are that the player can passively and actively observe the battlefield with a UAV, enemies can surrender, and there is weapon sway, which I don't recall observing in the other DF titles, even the succeeding Black Hawk Down, Team Sabre, and Xtreme 1 and 2. Weapon firing sounds have been redone and improved since Land Warrior : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqnR5UhY4fM There is even a 1st/3rd person switching key, but 3rd person can't be used for combat, so isn't worth using most of the time in a shooting game. I value the added abilities and realism a lot, but there are many more downsides that go along with it, Not good for modern high ram and large wide screens - On my WIndows 10 machine the setup thought my Swap was too little, and the game froze when trying to edit controls and the only way out of it short of hard reboot was logging out because I couldn't get steam or task manager to stop the unresponsive game. There are fixes for resolution setting issues discussed here : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3041906277 Poor design - Some requirements for mission completion aren't specified. The first mission necessitates the destruction of a satellite dish and only the AT4 or charges can destroy it but doesn't list this objective and doesn't say how exactly to accomplish. The mission briefings aren't voiced. It's easy to fall and become seriously injured or die in the high hills, and even from jumping out of the inserting helicopter in mission 2 - to avoid that, jump out toward the nearest tree to the left door, where there is a bit of an incline. Here are some other tips for completing bugged missions : https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1449255690 Less mission depth and variety - It's all in the sand of Afghanistan. Suboptimal Controls - The controls are unergonomic and unintuitive, with defaults requiring movement of hand toward numpad for stance adjustment, while less immediately important things occupy the qwerty space. Makes fighting complicated and lengthy and increases the chance your character (who can die in one hit) has to start the whole mission over in a game with notoriously large maps and no player drivable vehicles. There doesn't appear to be a key to change rate of fire, so automatic weapons can't be used conservatively. I wish all of these were still readily available for purchase (especially on GoG because I'm not switching to Windows 11) and companies like Tencent and its TiMi Studio Group weren't killing their properties like Rockstar, Blizzard / Activision, Naughty Dog, Dont nod, Deck Nine, Square Enix, EA, and Ubisoft.
Great game, love this game.
