All games belonging to the Delicious franchise are not only beautifully designed, but also have the most heartwarming stories among all titles published by GameHouse and can be played individually. The latest installment in the series changes the vibe from fluffy-cozy to an exciting mystery-murder (attempted murder), but it’s equally entertaining and well done as all the previous games. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3301469352 In this episode, Emily and her bestie Francois are summoned to help organize an engagement party at the Jenkins mansion, one of the wealthiest families in town. When the bride-to-be is poisoned after eating a quail, Francois is determined to play detective to find the culprit and get to the bottom of the mystery. The story unravels bit by bit as Emily and Francois find various clues while servicing the guests arriving for the party. The narrative is thrilling, full of plot twists, and it culminates with a very unpredictable and surprising ending. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3301469180 The gameplay remains consistent over all GameHouse games, with no changes compared to the previous installments in the series. It’s a time management game in which you have to optimize your actions in order to fulfill all customer orders before they lose patience and leave. The orders are a mix of items that you pick up from around the level and ones that have to be prepared under a timer, while for some requests you will also need to play a short minigame. The items served are automatically upgraded to better ones (that give some bonuses) when a certain threshold of orders for that specific item is reached. Additionally, with the coins gathered during a level you can buy various upgrades for that specific location (bigger tray, improved movement speed, less impatient customers, etc.) to facilitate the gameplay during later levels. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3301469135 Delicious games are always fun to play and never disappoint. The extra tasks that you have in a level, together with finding the hidden mouse in each of them keep the gameplay consistently fresh. There is a good balance between easier and harder levels, and new items are gradually introduced in each location after the player gets well-accustomed to the placement of the existing ones. There are 91 easy achievements to unlock (which takes roughly 10-12 hours), and as long as you complete all the locations (including their tasks, getting three stars and finding all mice) you shouldn’t need to do any extra work aside from replaying a few levels. Delicious - Mansion Mystery is a time management game developed by SQRT3 and GameHouse and published by GameHouse. It is the latest installment (according to the store page, the 19th game :o) in the Delicious - Emily series. As usual, you take on the role of Emily, and this time, she and Francois are going away on a friendcation. However, if we all know Emily, having followed her journey throughout this series, there will be plenty of work and especially, cooking involved. Emily's friend Trevor, a chef working at a mansion in Snuggford, has called upon Emily, needing her help for an engagement party that's going to be held there this weekend. Of course, Emily is happy to accept, and Francois is along for the ride. However, as Emily and Francois are working at the mansion, one of the guests is mysteriously poisoned (but thankfully, Alison Heart, from another well-known series, is there to save the day). Francois can't help getting excited, seeing that there's finally a mystery afoot, and Emily is now the one along for the ride. Can Detectives Emily and Francois solve this case? I'll end my story synopsis here to avoid spoilers and all that. XD With the gameplay, it is per usual. You can choose from among three difficulty levels. (For review purposes, I chose to play on normal mode.) There are a total of 5 locations with 60 story levels and 30 challenge levels. In each level, you can earn up to 3 stars, depending on how quickly you serve the guests, each of whom can have a maximum of 5 hearts. There's an additional task for each level, such as quickly serving guests, as well as finding Carl the Mouse. Thus, you can earn up to 5 diamonds per level as well as earn coins, depending on the score. Coins are used to purchase restaurant upgrades in each location, such as a tray that can increase the number of items that Emily can carry. Diamonds are used to purchase decorative items for the wedding venue (purely for cosmetic purposes). https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3268778461 Of course, there are new mini-games in the levels that have tutorials on how to play them. In addition, there are lots of Steam achievements/in-game trophies that count towards a user's global total. Now that I've gone over the story and gameplay, I'll move onto my thoughts. It's exciting to see the Delicious series make a comeback, with the start of Delicious - Cooking and Romance (please check out my review of it here). I got even more excited with this latest game, and it certainly doesn't hurt that the story goes back to the days when Emily and Francois would go on the road together, working at various restaurants. Also, Delicious - Mansion Mystery has mystery with investigative elements, and mystery is one of my all-time favorite genres. :D With the story, I enjoyed how the focus was on Emily and Francois, working at the mansion while solving the case of who tried to poison the soon bride-to-be. They make such a great pair of best friends, and I enjoyed watching their antics and banter. There's a cast of non-playable characters, like Oscar (the fiance) and Clarissa (the grandmother and head of the famous apple pie business that has earned the family's wealth). With the mystery of who poisoned Juliet, the soon bride-to-be, and all the twists and turns, I loved following the story. The reveal turns out to be shocking but has its resolution, and even the very ending leaves off on a cliffhanger (and possibly, with
Emily and Francois having another potential business as partners
). Regarding the gameplay, I found it very doable, but then again, I've been playing a lot of time management games now, so I know what's to be expected (for the most part). I had no difficulties earning the maximum scores and such although those last couple of levels can prove to be quite challenging, especially with those customers quickly entering the venues and Emily having to serve them without them losing too much patience (a.k.a. hearts). All of the achievements are obtainable although you may have to grind to earn a few of them. In particular, the ones for replaying levels, playing mini-games in the conservatory (first venue), and customers leaving were where I had to replay levels. The art is lovely as always. It's in that familiar, cartoony style that is pretty much a signature mark on all GameHouse games. The backgrounds and sprites are drawn and colored well, and the style really gives off that feeling of being in a spooky mansion at night. With the music, there are many new tracks, which is a refreshing change, although there are familiar ones, too. The tracks fit perfectly with their respective venues, and my favorite track has to be the one for the ballroom, as it gives off that feeling of elegance and sophistication, with the classical, relaxing track. Overall, would I recommend Delicious - Mansion Mystery? If you're a fan of time management games and especially the ones by GameHouse, this is definitely worth checking out. I adore Emily and Francois, and it's wonderful getting to play more Delicious games and seeing how far Emily has come since her early days. I hope that there will be more games in this series and we'll get to see Emily and Francois together again more. ^^ Finally, I want to give a major thank you to GameHouse for the review copy. I just love these wonderful time management games with the addictive gameplay and heartwarming stories, and I'm already excited for more. :D
For more detailed, fully complete, high quality reviews like this, please follow The Introverted Gamer, prioritizing heart and soul always. ^^
A great time management title with a crime mystery made by Gamehouse & SQRT3. It takes around 15h to complete and has no missable achievements. Approximate amount of time to 100%: 15h Estimated achievement difficulty: 3/10 Minimum number of playthroughs needed: 1 Is there a good guide available: You don't need a guide Multiplayer achievements: No Missable achievements: No Grinding Achievements: Yes, replaying 25 levels is a bit grindy. However, it is easily done on level 1 after finishing the rest. They know how to make fun time management games in which you complete orders for different people. In Mansion Mystery you're playing as Emily. She and her best friend Francois will help host a party for a family who lives in a mansion. However, a lot is going on in this family and you'll get snippets of all the drama trying to solve a murder attempt. This game has 90 levels, 15 levels in each different area. Which felt like a lot to me, sometimes a little too much. This might also be due because I didn't connect with the story as well as with other GameHouse titles. There was a little bit too much eavesdropping and searching through other people's stuff. I understand it is a game and they tell a story, but somehow it still made me feel a little uncomfortable with the methods Francois took while being "the good guy" who want to solve the crime. This is weird because there are other GameHouse titles where the crimes are worse but done by bad guys, which makes it feel a little better, which I can see for myself that it is crazy to feel that way. What I did like about Delicious - Mansion Mystery is that the mini-games were cool and all very good doable with a mouse as well as on the Steam Deck. Another great improvement in later levels was that if you had to find objectives in a level as a side-mission it had a counter so you know for how many more of them you were looking. The absolute best thing for me was that this game didn't end on a cliffhanger but had a proper ending which leaves room for future installments but didn't drop you into another adventure straight away. And last but not least, you don't need any prior info on the characters at all for this installment. The achievement list is what you expect from this type of game: Complete all the levels with 3 stars, play the mini-games, complete all the side objectives, find the mouse in each level. What is nice is that in the in-game menu, you can see how far you're with the achievements, as they all have counters. And in the level select you can easily spot in which level you didn't find the mouse, didn't get 3 stars, or didn't do the side mission. I give Delicious - Mansion Mystery 3.5 out of 5 stars. After playing Welcome to primrose lake 2 i was a bit nervous about this game, especially because the Delicious series already had a pretty disppointing part, but luckily this is a very cool and great game. The story was really cool and captivating, and even i didnt knew how it was ending, until the end. The characters where really nice and well made, especially Francois and his reactions. The levels and the places where very nice and fun to play, the minigames there whera pretty nice, even though the variety could have been more. The customisable wedding venue and the investigating board are really cool features and a really nice gimmick. The replay and bad host achievement are, like in the last parts, pretty annoying, especially the replay achievement, but its not very bad. All in one i really enjoyed playing this game, and hope that there will be other parts like this, or maybe even another series (especially after the ending). I can really highly recommend this game.
SQRT3... The same team that made Scarlet's Haunted Hotel... Which would mean... Easy gameplay and constant bickering in cutscenes... (But at least they had a decent mystery and some emotional drama!)(And GameHouse chimed in on their work, huh? Well, seeing their current track record... It explains... A LOT.) I was mostly right. The game is rather easy. Sure very few levels and at the end it gets... A little bit hectic, but seriously... All the "pressure" is put onto you in the beginning of the level and then nothing. I don't get it. This also looks like it wasn't originally for PC and loading times are slightly annoying. I've never been so tired of looking at Emily's enlarged face!!! Alright well, in this one you'll be serving mostly food and prepping for the wedding (for which you need diamonds + gold, if you want to change some items to something else). Just like with the Raven in SHH, the mouse, Carl, is excruciatingly easy to find. Sigh. The mini-games are overly easy too... But then again... They weren't supposed to be hard. Eh. Now the story..................... For half of the game... I wanted nothing to do with the story. It was REALLY BAD. I am so sick and tired of hearing: "Oh! Drama of elites~! Gasp! Look at what happened! It's a mystery and we must solve it!!!"... Which is always contradicted by Emily with: "Nah, you just seeing things and everything is fine". Really? The dialogue was so, so bad... That I can't remember majority of it. (Or rather... I don't want to.) Should I guess WHO this game was targeted at?! LOL!!!!!!!!!! Also... There is no murder. That isn't allowed. No, no. Then after about half of the game... When Emily stops being an idiot... She "reads a book" and decides to help with the "investigation"... Zzz... You know what? They were just at the right place and at the right time. These "bad guys" just kept giving information away willingly. The bad guys were all idiots too, keeping *all information* on paper. Gee. Thanks. And then FINALLY. We get a reveal.......... Followed by an even more of an insipid resolution! There is NO WAY IN HELL... Would that WOMAN... EVER DO OR EVEN SAY WHAT SHE DID!!!!!!!! You know what would actually happen? She would stand by what she did AND REFUSE to see that what she had done as "wrong". (HELLO?!?!? Have you EVER read a GOOD mystery before?! Something SIMILAR to this?! What is WRONG WITH YOU?!) Also... No one was punished and everyone was forgiven. Blow me!!! Never ever... Write a damn mystery... EVER AGAIN!!! Oh and who's idea was it to put "replay a level 25 times" Achievement? Like hell! Did you mean "RESTART it 25x"?! Because if I am not doing good in a level... I AIN'T FINISHING IT... I AM RESTARTING IT! Screw your backwards logic! Insipid story with baby dialogue. A mystery with no intrigue and a way beyond ridiculous and unbelievable resolution. Game play is superbly easy and... I just don't care anymore. I can't even purchase any modern Time Management games either. Thanks for proving my point yet again. Back to older games I go.
Wow, the Delicious Emily series really came a long way. It turns out that Emily is going on a vacation; not by herself or with her family, but with her childhood best friend Francois. However, it seems like Emily can’t really relax as even the thought of going to somewhere relaxing is too much relaxation. Luckily, Emily’s husband, Patrick, has the perfect solution right in his hand. Trevor, an old catering pal, sent over a letter detailing that he needs some help catering a big engagement party. Francois wasn’t exactly happy at that idea, as he understandably wants to relax and not work, but he changes his tone when he hears it’s at the Jenkins mansion (aka the wealthiest and most well-connected family in Snuggford) and it surely will be the social event of the decade. Let’s start this friend-cation work-cation! Little did Emily or Francois know, their friend-cation here in the Jenkins mansion isn’t going to be a boring one (or a stressful one trying to make it the perfect event for the two families) as they soon find themselves solving a mystery to prove someone’s innocence. Francois is excited at the prospect of playing detective, with Emily being reluctant before warming up to it, but they will not only uncover who did the poisoning and why; but also some other family drama and secrets that were simmering under the surface. Now it’s onto the gameplay. Every level will start with a story cutscene, let you see and buy upgrades, send you to the actual level, and then most will end with another story cutscene. If you’ve played any Gamehouse game before, you’ll be very familiar with the gameplay here, but don’t worry if you haven’t. It’s pretty easy to understand and do. When a level starts, your shift starts and customers will start walking in. After they go to the counter or sit down at a table, they’ll take a bit of time to decide what they want. Once they tell you what they want, all you need to do it grab it and take it to them. Those at the counter can be checked out right away, but those at a table will take their time to eat/drink what they got before going to the counter to be checked out. Though, even when you check them out, the tables do need to be cleaned before the next people will sit down. Luckily, here, Francois will help you out by cleaning tables in the majority of levels here. There’s even minigames here, where you’ll do something like cutting vegetables or This continues until the shift ends, which is when you know customers will stop coming in, and the level ends when the last customer is checked out. How many customers that come in, how frequently, and what they order will depend per level. You’ll get points for everything you do customer-wise. Seems easy right? Well, this is where the time management aspect comes in. Customers have a timer on them. Some just have a timer due to what they need (which usually sends you to a minigame), but most is represented by the hearts above their heads (or their happiness level). Their hearts starts ticking down right as they enter, even if they’re not at the counter or a table yet. So, it’s best to serve customers as soon as you can. Though, you do need to take into account your inventory space as you can only pick up so many things (and luckily you can throw an item away if you accidentally pick up the wrong thing or too much). In addition, there are some items that you need to keep stock and you need to take some precious time to restock it when you’re low or out; items that need to be combined, some of which have multiple parts and possible combinations to them; and food that need to be prepped or cooked so you’re a bit delayed to picking them up, but need to click on it so it doesn’t go past the green area on the gauge. With how many customers that can be in the room, and how they’ll ask for more than one item, this can be a bit hectic. Let’s add a side objective that’ll ask you to do things like only serve full orders, don’t let customers leave with less than so many hearts, and don’t throw away anything in your inventory. Some side objectives are easy, but some can not be. Especially when you can’t throw away items and you keep forgetting. Oh, and there’s Carl the mouse! He’s just a mouse that will pop up every so often for a little bit and you need to find him. He can be quite the hider sometimes. Especially if it’s where the customers can unintentionally hide him.
💜 Check out a more in-depth review at Witch’s Review Corner 💜
As always, I enjoyed the time management goodness that Gamehouse provides. The upgrades felt good, the levels felt like the perfect difficulty with the last few being the most difficult, and the minigames were good as well. There was really only one minigame that felt it would have been better with a touchscreen rather than a mouse. I also really liked how Francois was there to clean the tables for the majority of the levels. It really takes a load off and, since I was so used to having to clean stations myself, had a handful of times I had to catch myself letting Emily stand around when it was Francois on cleaning duty. Strangely enough, though, I didn’t get burnt out after playing a handful of levels in one session. Usually I do, but there was just something in Mansion Mystery that just let me play so many levels without feeling like I need a break. What I especially liked in Mansion Mystery is that there was no grinding achievements. The bonus levels actually helped out with this aspect. As long as you get all five diamonds for every level, you’ll get about 96% of the achievements, with the remaining ones being pretty painless like not serving customers or pressing replay on levels. Aside from thinking this game could have used some more story cutscenes and one minigame being better suited for a touchscreen, the only negative I have is that I did encounter the game getting stuck on the cutscene when I go to skip it a couple times. I did also have some bad performance on one of the last few levels, but that’s 1 out of 90 levels so that’s still pretty good. Oh, and this is more like a nitpick but one of the piano minigame patterns have one of the notes wrong on the keyboard.
Verdict
I really, really enjoyed Delicious - Mansion Mystery, which was really unexpected. The fact that I wrote this review for it shows how much I did since I don’t really write reviews for Gamehouse’s games. I loved the story, the drama, the characters and locations looked beautiful, I loved how you had someone cleaning tables for you for the majority of the levels, and I surprisingly didn’t feel like I was getting burnt out as I was playing. I have no idea what this game did differently, or it’s because I was thirsty for some good drama, but Mansion Mystery turned out to be a great game that I couldn’t put down. I love Gamehouse games and realize that they should be challenging to some degree however the difficulty of this one is insane towards end of game. I tried multiple times on each Ballroom level to get 3 stars on normal and failed. Very frustrating. This one isn't worth it.
I've been playing Emily's games since she was single. And I'll keep on playing. Please give me more addictive time management games with lovely stories. Thank you.
It gets to Level three 27 in the cellar and it gets stuck. These two patrons won't do anything and you can't advance forward
