About
Deja Vu portrays The Backrooms as a manifestation of mental illness. Join forces with a friend and endeavor to escape the confines of both your own mind and the mundane existence that led you here.
Meet AJ, an average guy stuck in the monotony of a corporate job. Suddenly, he receives devastating news—he's been diagnosed with a mental illness that, if left untreated, could lead to severe hallucinations. What AJ doesn't realize is that these hallucinations are about to become all too real, much sooner than expected.
Unbeknownst to AJ, the horrors he's about to face exist solely within his own mind, ensnaring him in a strangely familiar place called The Loop. AJ's mind perceives the place he's trapped in as akin to a computer glitch. Consequently, he must gather eight memory fragments to liberate himself from his own hallucinations—a journey he can embark on with someone else caught in the same predicament.
Deja Vu seamlessly blends singleplayer and multiplayer elements to offer a realistic and plausible approach of the backrooms concept. The singleplayer part features the way you reach "The Loop", while the multiplayer part allows up to four unfortunate souls to work together in order to escape.
Deja Vu features two kinds of levels:
Procedurally generated levels, which are completely random and different every time.
Static levels, which are puzzle-based and focus more on exploration and adventure, offering a never-before-seen approach to the backrooms.
AJ must evade a distinct entity in each level he faces. These entities roam the levels, relentlessly hunting him down; if caught, they will ruthlessly end his life. AJ, being no fighter, must rely solely on his legs to survive.
High quality graphics, immersive sound design, detailed animations, a first-person perspective from a fully rendered character, stamina system and a minimalist user interface collectively offer a lifelike portrayal of the horrors AJ is enduring.
The game includes a variety of items that could assist AJ in his escape, all of which can be stored in an inventory system. Throughout the game, numerous interactable objects enhance the overall dynamism of the experience. Proximity voice chat also plays a significant role in the experience. AJ can communicate with his friend, but caution is necessary— the entities can hear.

Reviews
For an honest review since you asked, the game is very buggy, especially the camera. It seems to be using a lot of copyrighted content for both the images and the music. As well, the reviews on this game are coming from accounts with no other games in their library or reviews, it's clearly being botted. If you're wondering why people keep refunding this, maybe you should listen to the real people giving you feedback.
With so many backrooms-inspired indie titles that can sometimes be hard to differ from each other, Deja Vu : The Backrooms does a good job at distinguishing itself from the rest of the crowd. The game tries to be something more than just another backrooms game. In my opinion, it's a good attempt at that. We get to go through the usual maze-like locations with subtle escape room elements that I think many people will be familiar with at this point. Here it comes with a good spin on top of it; this game has a backstory to it, taking place outside of the mazes. Essentially it has two worlds, the outside world where things are 'normal', and inside of mazes, referred to as memories, triggered by mental disturbances. The mazes themselves feel decently intricate, they feel balanced and I don't find them too easy or too complex either. This is a good thing, since it's always hard to balance out. In total, we get to go through 5 levels in the current state, excluding the "normal world". The first time I played through all stages took me ~90 minutes, and second time, ~40 minutes. It feels like a very short experience, when considering the price, but it's important to acknowledge that the game is still in Early Access and isn't fully released yet. It does very much look like new content is being prepared, the menu is strongly hinting at that as well. One of the things I'm especially happy to see here, is the balance of AI. First of all, there's multiple AI, very nice to see. On top of that, it's for once a fair AI that seems to have fair spawn points and isn't overtuned & imbalanced when it comes to audio effects. A missing point here has to be the true intensity/horror, I feel like the atmosphere is completely dull at nearly all times. There's not much going on besides your own subtle footsteps and the sound of the AI (which can also be seen as a positive; makes the AI more fair as it leaves the player with good "reads" on its position). However, I still feel it's important to deliver a stronger intensity than the one we currently get. I didn't experience any hair-raising episodes or any heart-pounding moments. That's not something a backrooms game usually fails me on. With it's current price tag on the slightly higher side compared to many other indie horrors, paired with the playtime that I got out of this, I'll recommend it and be very optimistic & hopeful for new content releases. Beat all the levels so far. Extremely fun backrooms game with really nice graphics and 6 different levels to explore! Really fun and highly recommended!
Really great atmosphere and interesting mechanics, but a bit buggy at times. One of the few actually good Backrooms games, but on a GTX 1660 I did have to play the game on medium-low graphics settings. For the current price of 8.79€ it's worth it both if you want to play alone or with a friend.
I love liminal horror games and this is a great hidden gem
Deja Vu is undoubtedly a standout Backrooms game, offering more than just an infinite maze that leaves you bored after 10 minutes.
game has interesting mechanics, beautiful graphics and good gameplay. it is fun both alone and with a friend
I really like that I had to explore the game in order to find out what to do next, since it has an introduction part and doesn't just jump straight into action. It's a cute chasing game with a few puzzles that me and my friend struggled over, but It's just great for playing during a chilly night!!
Deja Vu is a hauntingly immersive experience. Exploring the Backrooms as a manifestation of mental illness is both unsettling and captivating. The mix of procedurally generated and puzzle-based levels keeps the gameplay fresh, while the entities' ability to hear proximity chat adds a unique layer of tension. Stunning visuals, immersive sound, and seamless co-op make escaping AJ's fractured mind a thrilling challenge.
