A $30 entry fee when many Free to Play games on Steam have more depth should be considered highway robbery and boycotted. The fact that this game is not at the very least in the "Early Access" category is also farcical. Almost everything in the "About This Game" category has an additional price tag attached to it. As a game, it's a mostly shallow experience. It comes packaged with 3 modes as of launch. Free for all (just called Deathmatch), Team Deathmatch, and a soccer game style experience. While the modes themselves are relatively flimsy, they're not totally terrible and it is possible to have fun, but the game is so unjustifiably expensive. It seems that the developers cared more about getting their microtransaction shop off the ground than putting actual content out in time for launch. The game's store is up and running and that's where you can buy as much useless nonsense as you can think of. At a $30 price point you'd expect more out of the box, but the leveling up system is as grindy as you can imagine. Oh, but they're promising tons of upcoming content. In other words this game is not complete. 3 modes, a handful of maps, and a fully stocked microtransaction store! Howbout fully stocking the game out of the box instead? Avoid this game unless you receive it for free or it goes free to play.

This game, for that price? No. And when I say "No," What I really mean is "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!" Not for $30. On the plus side, the graphics are pretty to look at. The framerate is capped at 90fps(addendum: There is a menu option to change this. I'm dumb), which is not that bad, but still unnecessary. And there does seem to be a bit of love put into the overall design and aesthetic. Apart from that, it feels very half-baked. Tutorials are limited to a youtube video, and nothing in-game. There are three modes to play, and you'll be waiting for a very long time to get into a lobby for any of them, and that's when the game isn't crashing. The worst aspect of it all is that people are expected not only to pay $30 for what is maybe $5 worth of game, but then there is a microtransaction system up and running well (unlike the game), eager to take your money. Get the game through the code and means stated in other reviews, but DO NOT spend $30 on it. You can get infinitely more for that price. My opinion may change pending further development and refinement. The base proof of concept has potential for great appeal, but presently lacks it. The pricing more or less ensures that this game will never have a thriving community. For $30, it's absolutely not recommended by me.
i think the price tag is a little to high the community will stay small with such a massive price tag i think the devs need to seriously rethink the base price of this game. it took me 35 minutes of searching for a "any game mode" type before i quit the game. not enough of a playerbase and the game has less content than a F2P game would even have. Lack of DEV response and interaction in the community is also a let down. i really don't understand how a company can just let negative feedback roll around the game and do nothing about it. Guess they jus't don't care enough, so don't waste your money on this one guys. much better games you can buy for 40$
As someone from the Oceanic region, this game have bascially 0 player for me, all these time since launch I'm just joining a empty lobby with no players anywhere to be seen. Because of this, the game is basically unplayable since it's a multiplayer only game. Update: Just got my refund for the game. Gonna avoid it like a plague until the devs do something about the player base.
Super cute game, pretty fun to play. Absolutely ruined by the $30 price tag and the fact that you have to pay real cash in order to unlock anything at all. It is impossible to find anyone to play online with so all matches are required to be with friends on the couch, which I have no problem with. The problem is that you literally cannot unlock anything at all unless you pay real cash. The AI bots just sit there and will never ever attack you or even move for that matter. The game puts up literally no challenge whatsoever. With only a few tweaks, this came could have been a delightful competitive multiplayer up there with Rocket League. I don't know whose fault all of this micro-transaction garbage is, but it is disgusting. It's one thing to put some additional content behind a DLC paywall, but if you pay $30 for what should essentially be a free demo, it makes me a little bit angry. If more games follow this path, I could absolutely see another video game crash happening where consumers are far too afraid to put any money into games. I honestly hope everyone who bought this refunds it to teach a lesson to the people in charge who made this decision. I can only hope that there are some miserable game developers that were tragically forced into adding the terrible micro-transactions.
Played this on free weekend, Gameplay was fine. Servers are buggy. Barely anyone plays (No community) and the asking price for this game is insane. If you made this $9.99 or even $14.99 you would have a lot more players. the fact you even have in game purchases is just disgusting. for purchasing this game at full price i wouldn't expect to have to unlock everything that sits behind a pay wall. This game would have a lot more active users, better reviews and servers, if you just changed the price of the game, and promoted it correctly. giving game stop users it for free must have hurt your sales. because no one else seems to want to buy it. TL DR; Fix the price of your game and more people will play it.
This game is DOA, dead on arrival. I preorder it, bcuz game was fun (i tried the beta). But when the game was released there was server issues, so i waited for fix.. It happen, but then there was no one playing it. Checked the Steam community hub, and ppl where raging about the price. When i got the game it was 24 dollar, but after awhile the price went up to 40 dollar, and thats when the game died. R.I.P Deformers, you where fun but i have to press NO - i do not recommend this game. If you buy it here on steam you will get 0 lobby, no one plays this game. Month Avg. I normally don't post negative reviews, much less ask for refunds, but my refund was just denied, so I might as well warn others of my experience. There is currently no way to play this game alone. There are no bots so you must be online to play. This would not be an issue for me if it weren't for the fact that I cannot find matches. For a few days after launch, I could find matches with up to THREE other people... that's it. Since then, I have spent too much time searching for lobbies or sitting in empty lobbies and have not been able to actually play the game in over a week. Because of the lack of offline option or players, this game has been literally unplayable for me. It was fun while I could play it, but if I knew that this was going to be another Dino D-Day I would have not purchased it. *Edited May 28 to fix a typo.
Really a shame, a very cute and fun little game that easily could have rivaled Rocket League if it was marketed and priced properly. GameStop/GameTrust totally screwed the pooch with this one, steamspy/steamdb graphs will tell you all you need to know about this title. Players online right now: 2 24h peak: 18 All-time peak: 83 (Launch day)
I will miss you deformers you were special and had potential but unfortunetly fell flat
