Deep Horrors of Fishing

One of my favorite video game genres are Fishing RPGs, which is incredibly niche to come across. Saw the dev advertising this game on Reddit and bought this game day 1 to try out. RPG Maker, like all of the dev's other games, but with a twist, like all of the dev's other games. It's very simple, but I find it so unique how the fishing mechanic is just the RPGM battle system. It kind of works and I like it. EDIT: My previous review had a few complaints and suggestions, most of which the dev has since responded to and addressed in game already. Very happy about this! It's supposed to be a fun little game that can be beaten within 2 hours and is genuinely fun. And honestly, I did have fun. Specifically thanks to the fishes. The fish designs in this game are really fun and creative. Lots are samey– similar body type and pose, but with something special about them that somewhat sets them apart– while others are so out there and crazy, I'm completely pulled into the game, just wanting to see every new cool design. It's AI generated, but I don't care. The designs are neat and it genuinely makes me want to collect them all. Luckily there is a Fishing Book that keeps record of all caught fish. At the end of the day, I don't need a lot from my fishing game, especially a $2 one. The designs are cool and I think the dev's take on a fishing RPGM game is neat. So yeah, if you have $2 to spare and want to see some creative Lovecraftian fish designs, I'd recommend this game.

Deep Horrors of Fishing is an absolute gem! It's clear this game was crafted with immense passion, delivering a truly well-made and inspired experience. In an age of fleeting trends, it's incredibly refreshing to see a game so thoughtfully designed for players to genuinely enjoy time and time again. This is a game made for the love of gaming, and it shines through in every terrifying, yet fun, moment! Great job my guy.

A very cute and creepy fishing game that uses more 3d rendered fish in a fairly standard looking 2d rpg world to really lean in to the eldritch/horror nature of these fish. Love it!

What caught my interest in NecroCatic Games' titles was the hand-drawn art seen in games such as "Cars ******* Dragons", or "NecroWorld" Despite the heavy use of stock RPG Maker assets, the amusing premise of "Clean Up After Your Dog", and the humorous writing of "Cars ******* Dragons" allowed NecroCatic's individualism to shine through. [b]Unfortunately, this entry resorts to AI-generated assets,[/b] instead - stealing from artists and negatively contributing to both the environment, and game development. [b]If NecroCatic cannot be bothered to even use stock assets, I may as save myself some money, and generate a game myself.[/b]
