Wow. Disappointed. I bought both of these games during the sale and was really looking forward to playing them. Then I get in and... well... Let's just say, if you get motion sickness in games, don't bother. HORRIBLE head bob and motion blur. I read where the dev said it was coming soon, in 2019, and all they did was 'reduce the head bob and motion blur'. Look devs, some of us just can't do this. PLEASE add toggles for accessibility. You made the game hoping all would play and love it and recommend it to others, but things like this exclude a huge chunk of players. I will try to play it, but right now I'm gonna have to stop. Thumbs down.
As much as I'd love to recommend this game because the level design, atmosphere, and story feels great, but I cannot unfortunately. Performance of the game is abysmal to the level of complete unplayability. FPS drop randomly for no obvious reason to 10 while GPU load and hoovering at only 30%. There are no video options to adjust, you can only select resolution and 3 graphic quality presets. I know it uses Unity and this might be a culprit, but I've played other games that run on Unity with great graphic fidelity at 4K@60FPS no problem (for example "The Chant"), so it's not Unity issue, it's how Unity is utilized. I don't understand how this game was released in such a broken state. The developer promised better settings, more options and optimization in 2019, today is 2024 and nothing was done. The game is abandoned. It could be an exceptional horror survival experience, but it's just pain and suffering trying to play it.
Ok, it could be awesome, but it's just ok. It's too dark, the map is confusing, and the house is way too big for this kind of game. I played for 3.6 hours and 1 hour was just me searching for keys in the dark that aren't highlighted. And when I say dark, I mean pitch black. You have to find your way through the basement with no flashlight and only flickering little red lights on the wall. I don't know who thought that's fun....spoiler, it isn't. And the worst thing is the frame drop at some points where you have to fight. But the rest of the game is intersting enough to recommend it.
Absolute slapper from Vincent Lade. Very fun horror shooter, reminds me of Cry of Fear and Condemned. Would recommend, it's a solid FPS.
I dobrze. Niniejsza część to zwyczajny przeciętniak. Niby ok, ale nie do końca. Dla mnie takie 5/10. Polecam, ale w pełni rozumiem też negatywne opinie.
A little janky, but pretty good. I had 2 soft-locks in the opening garden area; there are places where you can see between cracks in the wall texture; and, like many indie horrors before it, the combat is busted, making the game extremely easy. But the environment is great and the story is intriguing enough. Perfect length for a horror experience and closes the game on a cliffhanger that could act as a satisfying open-ending, if there wasn't already a sequel to play. The game has good bones and actually got me a couple times. Worth an evening and the price of entry.
Pretty enjoyable 7/10 Even with map I was very lost. It was nice that it updated in some rooms however there were parts I got lost in tunnels because how long the corridors were. Better tracking for required items other than keys would have been nice. Enemies were good for me was not too easy but also not too tough, good balance. Audio - Great Atmosphere- Definitely kept me on edge ! Would have rated higher if wasn't for getting lost on what I needed to do in map for an hour. Also would have liked a journal log so I did not have to rush all the way back to rooms to read lore. Overall for the price its a fun little game <3
I would call this a combination of Resident Evil and Layers of Fear, as you are in a mansion full of zombies and get several weapons to fight them, as in RE, but it also has some psychological horror and environment switch-arounds to confuse you, like in LoF. It's pretty fun and spooky overall, though it is very easy if you're a good shot in FPS games, and it has a pathetically tiny selection of configuration options. And it's short, but it has a separate part 2. Well worth it for what I paid in a Fanatical bundle for both parts.
Disclaimer – I paid something like the price of a can of Coke for this game. Deathbloom isn't amazing by any means. It's not a game I'll talk about with passion in the future — I'm not even sure I'll remember much of it in a year or two, but... I can't say it was unpleasant. From what I've read, it was the developer's first "big" release, and I'll be proud of myself if I can do anything at least as intriguing anytime soon. Overall, it's a poor man's Resident Evil — think of the first game's level design mixed with the seventh episode's gameplay. It's slow, you're walking through corridors, you're looking for keys, you read various documents, and occasionally, you fight zombies. The story reveals itself through your findings and readings, and as far as Chapter 1 goes, it borrows the weird themes that Silent Hill 1 explored back then — if you managed to uncover the full plot. The game looks good — it's made with Unity, meaning it runs like a dead dog, but offers decent visuals, and the developer managed to craft a visually nice playground. The atmosphere is nice. I always appreciate games that try to instill a tense feeling instead of relying on jump scares like that god-awful animatronic series, so, bonus points for that. This is not a product geared towards zoomers. Some negatives though: full price at the moment (around 10 bucks) is excessive considering it's not much more than a competent "first project", and, it ends with a cliffhanger waiting for you to play Part 2. Not much more to say. This review will probably not convince you to play it, but if you're curious enough to give it a try, you'll have a good time if you've played classic survival horror games enough to remember their whole map layout without effort. We are the same breed. Moving on to Part 2 !
