2026 still no controller support without some 3rd party software da phuq
本质是加了dlc的2代原版,加了一些新东西,如果你是打折入的那就不错 哦对了这玩意在新win系统有bug
It should be noted that this game does not actually have controller support without third party software. While I prefer keyboard, the fact that the option wasn't available, even though it was advertised, is unacceptable. Additionally, many people have talked about constant crashing or bugs ruining the experience, I did not experience those however. Neither of these affected my playing of the game, so this review is much more positive despite these dealbreaking flaws for many. This game is a different version of the best game in the franchise, Dead Rising 2, so it already has a strong foundation. Great gameplay loop and overworld, along with a very entertaining story and side quests. But for the purposes of this review, it will be going over the merit of playing this after playing the original. The most obvious differences between the two are playing as Frank West, the first game's protagonist, the inclusion of a sandbox mode, a new area being the Uranus Zone, and a lot of quality of life upgrades. Starting with Frank, it is fun. The game definitely has a pretty different vibe with Frank at the helm rather than Chuck, and that is especially true considering Frank has different attacks than Chuck, using the moves from the first game. This combined with a change in zombrex mechanics (Frank being able to take them while out and about rather than having to return to the safehouse) and reintroduction of the camera makes Frank not feel like a reskin of Chuck, but rather his own character. It's quite a fun change to play through the game with Frank's new quirks. The story kind of makes him feel like a reskin though. Frank still can fight all the psychopaths who fought Chuck specifically because they thought Chuck caused the outbreak which Frank was not framed to have done in OTR. Obviously, they are changed to attack for other reasons, but it just feels like Frank was just forced in, rather than part of the world sometimes, which he was, but you don't want to actually feel that in game. I don't have much to say on the sandbox mode (I did play it, but just on playstation rather than pc). It's fun and its nice to have a stress free way to ♥♥♥♥ around, and I would imagine co op would make it better. Challenges are things to occupy time. Kind of a nothingburger imo but I'm glad its in the game. The Uranus zone, in concept is so fun. Its an amusement park filled with zombies, full of sci-fi weapons and deadly rides. In reality, you just don't go there. There are very few quests in the area, and honestly, with the exception of one, none of them feel like they should actually be there. Additionally 3 of the zombrex locations are changed to be in the Uranus Zone (and 2 of those are just in the security boxes that you find keys for around the map). I really dislike this change, as the zombrex locations in the original are scattered through all the main casinos, which highly encourages exploration, which is kind of gone now, as you aren't even encouraged to explore the Uranus Zone considering the security boxes. The security boxes also did not have to be in here, they could have been in a different area. It is just so undercooked and tries to pretend that it should be in the game, when even the game doesn't actually pay attention to it.
By the way, that quest that needed the Uranus Zone to function is the new final boss of the main game. A final boss that I personally think is much worse than the original, gameplay wise most definitely, and story wise arguably (though that is a hot take). I like the new twist, especially considering part of the set up for the twist is the entirety of Dead Rising 2, which is just so fun. I just feel it is a bit weaker, though metatextually it is stronger.
The quality of life is so much better in this game. The introduction of checkpoints alone makes the game a lot quicker and less frustrating, and some extra indicators and whatnot make the game overall much smoother and more accessible. There are non QOL additions to gameplay, but those are less desirable than the QOL. Survivors are so much worse and die so easily, but slowly that you don't even want to deal with them. And psychopaths now force you to wait them out with a new damage cap. Neither are awful, and the QOL makes the gameplay overall much nicer, but still not great Other than the main things I mentioned, I like the increased focus on money, which while very important in the first game, felt more at home in this one. Overall, the game, while feeling like Dead Rising 2 for obvious reasons, stands as quite different from the original. I wouldn't play these two back to back as it will feel like playing the same game, but it is worthy of being played, especially if bought on sale. It has its ups, and it has its downs, and in general I feel the original is better, but this is a Dead Rising game so it's fun. Steam just may not be the place to get it though. I didn't have much issue technically with the game, but considering many did, it may be better to just get this game on console instead.
wicked fun spin off
hell yeah
No controller support in 2026? Straight to jail.
Still the best entry in the Dead Rising series (even better than vanilla DR2, imo). Don't let my time played fool you - I've played TONS of DR2:OTR, and I always come back for more. Fantastic hack and slash action, set in a great map to shower in blood and guts, and you even get to play as Frank West (he's covered wars, you know!). Runs like a dream on anything you throw it on, too. 10/10, would dismember several shopping malls worth of the undead again.
overweight journalist 11/10
trash game i can't play on controller and crash often
Controller support was not working as advertised. Thought it was just me but good to know everyone else has experience with it.
