The game feels a lot like a cash grab at this point. That, or a passion project that's rather underhanded with the ways it continues to fund itself. The breeding for skins and stats system is somewhat profound, but unless you want to rely on strangers' kindness and random chance with freely given eggs, you (or someone else) have to buy at least three copies of the game to have a controlled system. And that's IF anyone involved wants to lose their dragon. You can't use your own eggs and you can only have one of each dragon (and they cannot breed between each other). The patreon sells special skins for $200. There are hundreds of breeding games out there, and this one thinks it's special enough to force you into paying more just to interact with basic breeding game principals. And LOTS of people have fallen for it. People talk about having alt accounts open all the time. It's a rather boring game to fall for something like that. The flying is fun, the map is.. interesting enough, but there's absolutely nothing else to it. Two predictable, nip-your-toes-until-you-die enemies. Attacks that barely aim right if they're not AOE or take too long to respond to input. Those who don't want to buy more of the game face a brick wall of absolutely nothing else to do, once the novelty wears off. This game has no excuse for barring one of its very few primary features through a steep paywall. $60.00 for three copies! They're selling plushies, for hells sake! It's frustrating because it feels like this game has a lot of potential - but it's been in development for a long time, and as of right now it's just one huge time sink. Maybe one day it'll get better. Still, I'd wait maybe five to ten more years before buying.

I don't count myself as a mega-fan, or someone who had any pre-existing expectations for this game. Just a fan of simulators and saw a cool new project (at the time). Many years later, and after a few period check-ins, I can confidently say this "game" is not worth anyone's time or money. Runs poorly, not much to do, and every new bit of content (which is very rare to begin with) is cut out and monetized as a seperate DLC purchase. Avoid, even if you are a dragon nerd.
DO NOT BUY THIS GAME PvP servers are mostly dead and they are dead for a good reason. The development team moves incredibly slow resulting in a game riddled full of bugs and the admin team is beyond useless. Player obviously cheating in front of you? Pinged for an admin? 8 admins online in the discord? Oh zero may show up or better yet a PvE admin who knows absolutely nothing about the PvP gameplay and exploits will monitor your fight! Did you find someone luckily and kill them? Oh well that's obviously cheating and you will be banned along with all of your accounts linked to your discord. No review process and no transparency on why you were actually banned. Inconsistent review processes from admins, bug ridden gameplay, and dead servers. Look elsewhere.
This game is dissapointing. The devs are rude and clearly don't know what they are doing with this game, and I will prove my point. 1. They lie about release dates all the time. For example, when the new map update was released on February 17, 2024, they announced a release schedule for certain features, which were expected to arrive within two weeks or so. At the time I've been writing this, it's almost the end of 2025, and they have only done the second one, which was supposed to come out on March 14, 2024, WHICH WAS 598 DAYS AGO.... PLEASE, IF YOU ARE GOING TO HAVE RELEASE DATES, PLEASE ACTUALLY MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHEN THEY ARE GONNA BE RELEASED!! 2. They take too much inspiration for their dragon designs. I will list some dragons whose designs are stolen from other franchises. *Shadow Scale: Night fury and or Light fury (How To Train Your Dragon) *Inferno Ravenger: Monstrous Nightmare (How To Train Your Dragon) *Blitz Striker: Skrill (How to Train Your Dragon) *Dravern: Storm Cutter (How to Train Your Dragon) *Flame Stalker: Smog (The Hobbit) *Acid Spitter Drake: Rage Drake (Dungeons and Dragons) *Single Crest: Ikran (Avatar) I get how being original is hard, but if you put all these dragons side by side, it's just humiliatingly obvious that they are stolen. 3. It's not balanced. When I came to revisit this game, I became an Acid Spitter Drake (A Drake with E stats, by the way) in one of the PvP servers. I must have wandered into a clan's territory and immediately got hunted down by 6 other dragons. When I was running from said dragons, I was using the brush to my advantage to not get hit by them, and was getting away successfully. It wasn't until I ran into the open that I got one-shotted by a Crimson-Melenstic shadow scale without them even charging up their attack. Do you understand how unfair that is? For a person who doesn't want to get into a clan and wait for them to nest you to get A or B stats, you have to settle for getting killed immediately when you wander into some clan's territory. It doesn't even help that there is nothing to indicate that's their territory. To add on to this, a single clan can have over 100 members, easily dominating the entire map and making it difficult for others to play (something that has happened before the new map update). Clans with so many members can acquire dragons with better stats, which can again result in one-shotting players like my Acid Spitter, who have been killed. This creates an even more unfair environment for solo players who just want to explore the map and survive without having to join a large clan or group, ultimately taking away the realism of this survival game. 4. They have a concerning focus on making money. Day of Dragons currently has 7 DLCs, which consist of Dragons and emote packs. I will briefly list them. *Acid Spitter Drake DLC ($8.99) *Blitz Striker DLC ($9.99) * Flame Stalker Emote pack DLC ($4.99) * Shadow Scale Emote pack DLC ($4.99) *Inferno Ravanger Emote pack DLC ($4.99) *Brood Watcher Emote pack DLC ($4.99) *and an additional Day of Dragons soundtrack ($8.99) Come on, 5 dollars for an emote pack? What is the purpose of it? Just add it to the main game! They also, instead of releasing new updates without delaying them for the next month, make plushies and STLs.Files for printable dragon models are on their Patreon. The day of dragons Patreon isn't even fair to the person who is paying to be on it. If you donate even 100 dollars, you will only get a Skin shimmer, sky jelly floating on top of your head, and a rage emote. Which doesn't even come close to the max amount, which is 300, and if you pay this 300, you will get a cosmetic, a Patreon role, and a title in-game. You should really get more than a name for yourself in-game for donating money, which can be used to buy the things you need to live. 5. Last but not least, the devs are not very nice. I remember when the game was dying out, the lead developer came into the PvE server. He was talking about how many people don't play the game anymore, and someone bounced off of that and said, “I don't have much faith in this game anymore.” Instead of saying “I'm sorry to hear that” or even “we are trying to improve our work,” He went defensive on this player, saying, and I quote, “I lost all faith in the devs after watching YouTube, I base everything I know about dod from YouTube videos.” In my opinion, that is quite immature of him to say such. He really could have worded it better. The devs have also banned and kicked people from the official servers for saying such things, like this player did at that time, which is also very unjustified. I see the efforts these developers are trying to uphold, and I respect that, though I'm not going to say much more. Overall, as a person who played 563 hours on this game, PLEASE PLEASE do not buy this. It's a waste of your money, hope, and time.
Asset flip game. Horrible optimisation and servers are completely dead as of posting. Not worth your money or time.
the most miss leading trailer i have ever seen. the gameplay loop is boring and dull yeah the map looks cool and dragons look good but still takes way too long to get anywhere and is not co op friendly because it doesnt spawn the pair of you anywhere close and waste hours trying to find eachother
Don't buy this game. The optimization is an absolute disaster. I can run The Isle: Evrima at a flawless 120 FPS, but Day of Dragons lags and runs horribly on the exact same PC. Instead of fixing the performance, the devs are busy releasing plushies and cosmetic DLCs. Even worse, if you complain about the technical state or financing in the forums, the developers will permanently ban you. Absolute shame.
Buyer beware, Promises such as the elemental are not in the game after almost a year, admins abusing powers and showing favoritism.
If you like to farm skins, this is a game for you. If you like new content, this is not the game for you. In 1 year the game had like 2 updates which were not skins. ( an ability of a dragon to raise eggs in their mouth and added some pearls which give you skins or buffs). The game had raised a budget of 500k on kickstarter, I assume 0 to none of those money went into development considering the state of the game.
Got banned from the forum for saying "this game is p2w trash" in which it is. the community is hella toxic in-game on top of that like you cant progress unless your with a pvp based clan and i feel as though the pve is pretty much non-existent. There are pve based servers that you can join but barely anyone plays them. I would much rather wait till a far better Dragon survival game comes out.
