Amazing 10/10 game Classic Anyone thinking of buying this game DO IT war fun and just a classic
Day of Defeat Source is a good online multiplayer game if you want to kill some time and kill some nazis at the same time. It is fun for a little while if you are playing alone like me, but the fun is done quite quick as it is repetitive and not many servers are online at this point of time. I played a lot with bots, which was hilarious, played a bit with actual people, which was nice. And that's all, there were only 2 servers playable from my location (Japan) Classic FPS, fun times
Its a good game, It's basically TF2 with a different story, but that doesn't make it any less fun.
I played it a handful of times because I got the Counter Strike: Source PC bundle box set back in 2007, which came with HL2: Deathmatch as well. It's a pretty solid shooter game tbh, played a few rounds in the days. The equivalent competitors at the time were the Medal of Honor games and the classic Call of Duty games (1-3, Big Red One and Finest hour.)
a friend showed me this game when I was 13ish and now I'm 30 and still playing it, at least for a few weeks a few times a year, it's just so addicting and fun for some reason. it was actually the first FPS I played on PC and was my first experience with recoil mechanics in games, I was always jealous of anyone who could dink a headshot with the BAR or STG when I was younger and now I can do it :) it's a pretty sick game
Even though I am able to play latest modern shooters without any issue, I find myself playing DoD time to time. And I've pondered. "Why do I play this old game when I have bunch of other option?". I concluded that answer is simplicity. Modern games are complicated thus overstimulating. In modern games you have to learn gameplay mechnanics (such as movement, gunplay etc.) to get somewhat competent. Modern graphics and level design are also tiresome to play. You have to deal with so many details and so many objects, which gets tiring after certain time. Complexity isn't bad but sometimes you just don't care. You don't want to deal with bunny hopping, rocket jumping, sliding, wall riding enemies. You don't want to predict where bullet will drop. You don't care about how many polygons does bottle prop have. You don't care about how grass animate in wind, You don't care about raytracing/pathtracing. You don't want to wait for next round to spawn. You just want to shoot the bad guys and move on. Nothing more, nothing less. DoD is good game if you appreciate simplicity. Gameplay is simple. Source engine is simple.

pretty based, definitely reminds me of both tf and cs in a variety of ways.
