David Slade Mysteries: Case Files

Just finished the first case file. Really enjoying this game! You can see a lot of love has gone into the development of this game. Looking forward to starting the next case file! If you're looking for a challenging, in-depth, detective/crime scene investigation, VR game that won't hold your hand, this is the game for you!

If you're like me, someone who's been waiting for a good detective game in VR, then look no further because this game is for you. I thoroughly enjoyed playing the game, and it's an incredible bargain at this price. In this game, you'll need to rely on your perception while searching for evidence using your forensics kit. Despite a few minor issues with controls and such, the game perfectly implements the evidence collection mechanic. I definitely want more. Works on Reverb G2. David Slade Mysteries: Case Files includes 2 very different episodes: original murder scene investigation and much more generic adventure/thriller. Both suffer from boring puzzle design, poor visuals and borderline game-breaking jank. VR detective game is such a cool idea, but there are no games (including this one) that successfully bring it to life. Investigation in DSM suffers from being to basic: you do not need to make any conclusions, just photograph, sample and collect every object. And you have to process clues in a strict arbitrary order: I've got stuck for a quite some time trying to gather fingerprints before taking a 2nd photo. Almost all of the puzzles are just "find the hidden object in a dark area where it is hard to tell, which parts of the low-res environments are interactable". And interacting with anything in DSM is a huge pain in the ass. Item handling and climbing is janky, crouching in that one tunnel section leads to constant height calibration glitches, key objects can fall through the geometry requiring a level restart. Visuals are quite bad, but at least well optimized. There are lot of blurry textures, dynamic lighting is broken, making some objects shine brighter than sun, while others cast glitchy texture popping shadows.
