I want to like these games, they had huge potential to exploring how the two characters manage an unexpected date, but the potential was wasted. This one was just far too short for the hype, it says short in the description, but I've played longer demos. Honestly, it was just a bit disappointing.
This VN was admittedly shorter than I expected, but was even more fulfilling than I thought it was. It's a very cute and enjoyable story, so I highly recommend it. If you're reading this, then you know why you're here and I can promise you'll get it. It really makes you work for the true ending though. I got the bad ending five times before I got the good ending, let alone the true ending
Hot girls.
Art not bad Sound track pretty good Night Club best ending About 30 min for first play through
i think the artwork was good as well as the story. it was short but other reviews mention that already. i wished it could of been longer and it was interesting to see various endings besides good and bad. there is no way i would pay 10 bucks for a very short visual novel
Dating Life: Miley X Emily, developed and published by Dharker Studios, is a compact visual novel built around a single, intimate scenario: an awkward first date that slowly evolves into something more nuanced depending on how the player chooses to guide it. The story follows Miley, who steps back into the dating world after a long absence, only to find herself in an unexpected situation when her date, Emily, arrives under circumstances she didn’t quite anticipate. This setup immediately establishes a tone grounded in social discomfort, curiosity, and the unpredictability of human interaction, giving the narrative a relatable foundation despite its stylized presentation. The experience unfolds through a familiar dialogue-driven structure, where the player’s choices determine how Miley responds to Emily throughout the evening. These decisions influence the pacing and tone of the interactions, allowing the date to swing between awkward, humorous, tense, or surprisingly heartfelt moments. Rather than building toward a complex or sprawling narrative, the game focuses on capturing the emotional rhythm of a single encounter, emphasizing how small decisions can subtly alter the direction of a conversation. This approach keeps the gameplay approachable and easy to follow, though it also means that the sense of agency is relatively contained, with most choices leading to variations on a shared narrative path rather than dramatically different storylines. What carries the game is the dynamic between its two central characters. Miley is portrayed as hesitant and somewhat inexperienced, which makes her reactions feel grounded and often relatable, especially during moments of uncertainty. Emily, by contrast, presents a more confident and open personality, creating a natural contrast that drives the dialogue forward. Their interactions form the core of the experience, gradually shifting from initial awkwardness toward a more comfortable and genuine connection depending on how the player navigates the conversation. While this dynamic is engaging in the moment, the game doesn’t spend enough time exploring their deeper motivations or backgrounds, which can leave the emotional payoff feeling somewhat limited by the end. Visually, the game leans into Dharker Studios’ signature anime-inspired style, with character artwork that is clean, expressive, and effective at conveying mood. The character designs are the highlight of the presentation, adding personality to each scene even in the absence of complex animation. Backgrounds, however, are relatively simple and reused across different moments, which can make the setting feel static. The lack of visual variety reinforces the game’s focus on dialogue, but it also contributes to a sense of repetition, particularly during longer playthroughs or replays. The game’s pacing reflects its intentionally small scope, offering a brief experience that can typically be completed in a single sitting. While there are multiple endings that encourage players to revisit the story and explore different choices, the variations between these outcomes are modest. Most routes revolve around different shades of the same core interaction rather than branching into entirely new narrative directions. This limits replay value for those seeking significantly different experiences, though it still provides some incentive to experiment with alternative dialogue paths. Thematically, Dating Life: Miley X Emily focuses on vulnerability, self-discovery, and the uncertainty that comes with stepping outside one’s comfort zone. It presents its central relationship in a straightforward and accessible way, emphasizing emotional connection over dramatic conflict. While it includes suggestive elements, the overall tone remains relatively light and conversational, making it feel more like a character-driven vignette than an intense or deeply layered narrative. In the end, the game feels like a concise and focused exploration of a single moment in time, executed with clarity but limited in ambition. It succeeds in capturing the awkward charm and subtle emotional shifts of a first date, supported by strong character presentation and simple, effective mechanics. However, its short length, limited branching, and lack of deeper narrative development prevent it from leaving a stronger or more lasting impression. It works best as a quick, self-contained experience that delivers exactly what it promises without trying to go beyond its scope. Rating: 6/10
Bof. Trop cher pour ce que c'est
Short visual novel. Through a mistake in inputting her data into a dating website Miley and Emily are matched up. This is strange, since both are straight girls. Depending on your choices, though, that may change...
