Darkness and Flame: Born of Fire Collector's Edition

It's certainly more of a puzzle game than an HOG, but it was good anyway. You can calibrate the difficulty to your preference - I went normal, but removed the sparkle hints, so it was a solid challenge, plus the puzzles are good, as is the art.

This is high on the scale on the Mountain Crime Requital scale. The full 3D sequences were a joy to watch, some of the voice acting is so-so, but overall pretty nice. The only negative point I would say is that it has a few brute-force type puzzle where you're supposed to figure out the sequence through sheer trial and error. That really isn't a "puzzle" in my opinion. I would still recommend this game!! :D

It's rather relaxing sometimes to not be chased by bad guys, shot at or otherwise running for my life. This series provides easy to moderate puzzles and real time map tracking so you don't get lost or wonder what to do next with the items you collect. the storylines are cheesy and non-emotive in the reading but I skipped most of that. Overall, worth the few dollars for 5-6 hours of entertainment.

This game feels like a YA Novel in the best way possible.

Darkness and Flame 1 is an average Hidden Object Mystery set in a magical world with traces of post-apocalyptic technology, much like Shannara. I like that the hidden object scenes are entirely process based, where you find things in the room and use them in logical ways to accomplish a given goal. I don't like that the fetch quest items, especially in the bonus chapter, tend not to have logical reasons to be so scattered about. Hopefully the sequels hold together better. The bad guys are a nameless possessed force, but there's a nice art style to their living castle. The young protagonist is decent, but her uncle has a very bad habit of not offering advice on where to find the objects he hid throughout the countryside. I really disliked the inability to rotate the Tetris pieces to fill out the space of one puzzle and, for some reason, they went and made that theme of the bonus mini-games in the Extras Menu.

This one is frustrating. The worldbuilding is so good. One of the best HOG series for that. But the first entry is tough to play. There are many solutions that are just completely illogical. I found myself referring to the strategy guide more often than usual. Play this only if you're a hardcore HOG enthusiast or you really want more context on the world of the sequels.

It's a fairly solid point and click adventure game. Not my favourite or exceptional, but it's fairly easy and the art is nice.

Liked the puzzles but there could have been a bit more of them . Enjoyed the story line, a little disjointed at times. Overall enjoyable and will definitely play again.
