I can't recommend this game in its current state. The first few hours are great, I love the art and the story. The gameplay is great, the characters are each doing their own thing, but it's fun to stick them together in different combinations and see what works. Some of the cards feel pretty useless, but it's probably the case that I am just missing some interaction that makes it work. The idea of combining different status effects is great, but despite the pop-up assuring me I could find all the combinations in the tutorial section, they are not described anywhere I could find. But the bugs I encountered shouldn't be in a game this long after release. Loading a save from the menu causes all music and most of the audio to cut out, resulting in a poor experience that requires a full restart to fix. Several times I encountered a bug where all buttons disappeared and there was no way forward, again requiring a restart. Worst of all, I attempted to kill the last boss three times, and each time ran into a bug where the card draw per turn value read "-97" and removed the end turn button, essentially soft locking the game. I suspect this is related to killing the boss with poison, but I honestly don't care enough to go through it all again just to find out. Avoid this one unless the devs fix the bugs.
It's ok. But feels like it's less than it should be. It's just boring is all. I'll open it. Play it for 15 minutes. Close again. There isn't much in the way of RPG elements. Just same-y battles over and over.
Extremely poorly balanced. Battles are a boring slog and the options available are so restrictive that it ends up feeling like a free mobile game. Art is great, characters are cute and the story is interesting, but it's just not a fun card system.
I am halfway through the game, I think. I like that the game is a linear story and not a roguelike, but I find the power curve is really lacking. Even after upgrading cards to max level, I still feel really weak against more enemies than my max party of 3. The lack of mobility, the small chances of synergies working, and lack of damage compared to the enemy make battles longer and longer as time goes. The game giving unlimited revives is the only way to get through some battles when you don't have a fully healed party at the start of battles. Oh yeah, you rely on health boxes between battles, but they don't fully heal you (5 health, 20 health). The art and story was interesting, but the farther I get into the game, the less I want to play it, as each battle takes longer and longer.
The graphics and storyline are adorable. Unfortunately the card based combat system is severly lacking. The split battlefield of 3x4 fields for each party is cramped. Every now then then you have spend turns to remove obstructions to gain a least a little freedom of movement. The opponents AI is mediocre at best. The most important feature of your party is the unlimited revive option during compat, else you would not stand a chance even at the early stages of play.
So far this game is a lot of fun! The deck building is a lot of fun so far and I'm still trying to figure out my favourite combos and style. The characters are cool and the dialogue is engaging and funny at times. I've personally not encountered any bugs. The game plays smoothly with each turn and I love the sequences. I like figuring out what kind of combos and chains I prefer. I like moving around the battle field and "microing". The game blends deck building, exploration, and strategy very well. I havent had too much time to play, but this game is easy to pick up right where you left off and is a great game to play in your spare time. Highly recommend so far.
Third time stuck on loading screen after first boss fight, unable to continue.
An enjoyable 20 hours of turn based combat. The story line is interesting and the characters do have a little bit of depth. There could be a little bit more lore as they just toss in various species without too much backstory of the overall universe. The leveling up is fairly straight forward but the new and/or unlocked cards don't really bring much more to the game. For the most part, I stuck with the original cards with a few card purchases. The card upgrades were hit or miss. Some upgrades really help while other seemed not to really affect game play much. The game does force you to play all the characters since healing is only really done at level ups. But every character does gain experience whether you use them or not (Thank you!) I had a core of three or four that I mostly ran with but all six are fairly useful. The one exception is the fish-in-a-mech character in which I couldn't figure out how to really gain much flux. It would have been nice to just have a "Gain Flux" card like the "Charge" card that the other character had. This seems to have been a big oversight (or maybe in my run the card just didn't come up). A single run through is enough for me and I will be moving on to something else but I truely enjoyed my time playing the game. The core game play is to first see what the enemy will do, then move your characters accordingly and then proceed to perform your actions. This game loop works really well and if you are fairly tactical, most battles are pretty easily won. I only "died" a handful of time, mostly due to forgetting the first step to just "move out of the way".
I did have one major game breaking bug in which I was unable to play the "Final Sever" card due to lack of EP (Energy Points). I had to replay the final boss battle over again (this time making sure I had at least one EP left when the boss was defeated) and I was able to finish the game.
I completed this game on another account, and while this might just be my personal opinion, many might see Squig as the main character, but for me, it's Brae. His heartfelt quest to find his lost love, culminating in their beautiful reunion in the afterlife, was truly wonderful!
