Don't just rush in, this game is hard. Read the tips and learn the skills... Brilliant game. Reminds me of HeroQuest on the Atari ST.
Fun game, and a lot of improvements and additions over DQ1. That said... The combat is not designed so that you can escape without damage, from most encounters (without extreme luck). As such, potions (healing potions) are basically required to succeed at a lot of quests, and you can't heal outside of a quest without paying money to rest your party at an inn, or taking along the cleric, who.. doesn't heal very much. If you get a full party wipe, you can resurrect cheaply (also costs gold, however), but you don't get to recover consumables, which basically puts you in a real bad spot if you wipe -- you need to have some serious gold in the bank, to recover, despite the low resurrection fee. To recover, you need to partially do quests, and abandon them, to reclaim a small amount of gold until you can get enough to both heal damage, and buy more potions. This is the epitome of boring grinding, to recover from just a failure or two. Hesitant thumbs-up. Certainly better if you can appreciate the Ironman-esque nature of the game. Tip: Think about character healing abilities, early on, to save some gold costs... or play easy mode, which effectively heals you some at the end of each quest.
tinkers* between 4/5 to 5/5 stars because it is missing some detailed information and to be completely open with the public it seems at times that it almost has the same algorithm that the fallout series has... you can be severely punished 100% in the favor of the AI..... personally, I think the first games mechanics should have been 100% transferred into this game but this expansion seems to limit the player more in certain areas rather than open them up as you are developing newer expansions/stories. Recommendation to other players: Be careful how you control you character and take your time like you would in a game like Chess. I don't know if the development team is a group of goblins but dear lord..... please take us into consideration, the game took 9.8 hours for me. But that was over the time span of 4.5 days.. So hopefully being a gamer that can and has climbed competitive platforms since CS 1.6 was released to the public.... LoL APEX CSGO MK bunch of records and all that ego with syrup situation leads to one of the worst games to have a stomach gut feeling of completing. It really does justice on keeping the player wanting to clear but a small failure mad me question playing the next expansion... :kippa chat. 6/5 feeling as of now. 9.8 hours over 4.5 days with no other game being played throughout that time.... Go for it !!!!!!!!!! but the games cost should be $5~$10 for each expansion.
Very nice game! It's simple, but very charming. It's good for short breaks from work :).

A short turn-based game for the weekend. Q: Would I recommend? A: Yes. [+] 1) A little bit of Warcraft-like styling 2) Short 3) Each hero for different situation [-] 1) Short 2) Bugged Some progression-compromising bugs. Fortunately, a restart of the map helps, but you need to play it all over again... 3) Forced reruns to collect abilities in order to progress Conclusion: 7/10
This is my substitute for Hero Quest
A los que le guste el Heroquest les gustara este juego de rol.
Very nice old game for you to play when you are happy
