How can the makers of Burnout make something so bad?
I enjoyed the first game more, some runner-up objectives are annoying and feel forced in order to get the platinum medal. The explosion model is so dissapointing than its predecessor. This game isn't that bad but i think the first game represent even more the Crash Mode of Burnout 3 Takedown than its succesor. Still TFE tried and while to me this game isn't that good compared to the first, i still liked in the end.

This game is almost perfect. It's fun, challenging, hilarious, explosive, and extremely cathartic. It's like playing interactive Russian dashcam videos. The object is simple: send your vehicle careening towards an intersection, wrecking as many cars as you can on the way, and cause a huge accident at the designated intersection. Your score is the insurance payouts for your 30 car pileup. It's extremely easy to pick up and have fun but hard to perfect your carnage and wreck every car you see. If this sounds very familiar, you must be a Burnout fan. They took the best part of Burnout 3 (the crash junctions) and mixed it with the best part of Burnout Revenge (traffic attacks) to make the ultimate Burnout game. Except it's not called Burnout, it's called Danger Zone 2. Why? I don't know, probably the developers moved to a different company and EA still owns the Burnout brand. But whatever, the name isn't what made the Burnout games great, as we learned with Burnout Paradise. The Crash Junctions made the Burnout games great and the important thing is, they're back and you don't even have to rank in boring old races and burning laps to unlock new ones. This game is ALL Crash Junctions which makes it a dream come true for me; something I've wanted to see since 2004. The only complaint I have is with the sound. There's an issue with the direction the sound is coming from. Often I'll pan over to try and see some crashing I hear but don't see anything happening. There's also no actual sound settings. No dial for the sound effects or anything. This is a pain because if you're streaming to your friends on discord (and they will ask you to stream it), it's hard to have a discussion with them because the game is so damn loud and you can't do anything about it. I'd also like to see a replay function to rewatch our crashes from wider angles than just the car view. There's also no music but I'm hoping they fix that for the next game in the series and make Danger Zone Blues Brothers edition, with music, locations, and vehicles from the Blues Brothers Movie. I know it came out like 40 years ago but I can't think of any licence more fitting to this gameplay and that's pretty much the music I've been listening to while I play. Other great songs for making your own soundtrack: Radar Love, Ace of Spades, Bad Dog No Biscuits, Titanic Vandalism, Ultra (KMFDM), Comfort Eagle, Little B!+@# (Specials), Joker and the Thief, Moaning (Mingus), Night of the Living Baseheads, Polka Your Eyes Out, Ratamahatta, Bottle of Smoke, Seven Thirty Seven/Shoe Glue, Clash (Caravan Palace), Police on my Back (Clash), Giant Hogweed, Shoot to Thrill, and, well, this list could go on and on but you get the idea.
The developers are from the now defunct game studios who use to create the Burnout games from EA. Danger Zone 2 is for sure that crash mode from Burnout. The first Danger Zone felt more like a proving ground on bringing back the crash mode. Danger Zone 2 plays just like that mode from the EA games. I played this game exclusively on the Steam Deck. It ran well with almost no issues. The only issue with the Steam Deck was the text did overlap each other on the screen. Though I will say that at full price that game is a bit lacking. I feel it is worth it at $15 or $10. You can easily play through all the crash tracks in a few hours. But if you are looking for that old crash mode from the EA Burnout games....this is it. I just wish they made more tracks. Final Verdict: 4/5 Great Game - Just needs more tracks and challenges to make it worth it at full $20 price tag.
While I would recommend this game, only barely, and only because I used to love the crash events that EA abandoned. This game is lazy (hardly any options, poor menu system, etc). There are hardly any camera angles (and the fact you don't have free fly with a freeze at the end of the event, or the ability to replay / save your crashes is a HUGE oversight). Also, the game isn't very long, only 3 regions with about a half-dozen events each and a few "bonus" levels. I have only played about 8 hours total and have almost got platinum on everything with some, but minimal, effort. Don't even get me started on the absolutely absurd physics of this game either. One second a car is sliding along the ground as though there is no friction, the next you stick to a random vehicle or crash on something you didn't before (despite having the momentum). I love what this game COULD be, but if it doesn't significantly improve by next time, I will be abandoning this as it is still clearly lacking even now. This game is not worth the $20 USD it was listed for at time of review. It's worth $5 at best. If it was what it should have been, then it would be worth $20.
It's fun for like half an hour but with a lack of any real depth in content, it wears it's playability thin. However, like I said, it is fun, and if you're looking for a purely fun experience akin to Burnout's crash mode, highly recommend. Best to get on sale
