Very mysterious and engaging game! A bit too difficult for me sometimes, but I liked it. <3
A beatiful adventure game with a mysterious and compelling story. I love the worldbuilding of the game, coming partly from the unique drawing style, colour palette and elaborate animations partly from the vivid characters you meet as the journey to reach The Great Tower unfolds. The atmosphere is supported by an ambient soundtrack and I think the soundscape fits well with the art style of the game. I like the walking and dialogue mechanics, which allowed for fast exploration and repetition of dialogue when I was backtracking looking for clues. My approach to adventure games is generally trial and error, but that only got me so far in this game. I found some of the puzzles quite tricky and had to use of the hint system to get past a few of them. Unique gaming experience - recommended!
Maybe it's just me, but this game is not intuitive. I'm not sure of the goal or even the purpose.
I really want to give this a thumbs up - there's so much heart in this game, the visuals are wonderful, and the vibes are dreamy and intriguing - but the gameplay really just didn't work for me. Dagdrøm puts you in the shoes of a citizen in a seemingly doomed futuristic city. You need to do some things and stuff to get on a train that goes somewhere. Why? Something about dreams. It's all very vague. The puzzles are also very vague. I wouldn't say the game runs on moon logic, instead I'll say "dream logic" (Dagdrøm is Danish for 'daydream'). The game will give you clues, but every clue is a riddle. Knowing what you need to do is, itself, a puzzle. It's just all very unclear what is going on. For some people, this might be fun, but it didn't land for me. Furthermore, items aren't named in the inventory either so you might not even know what items you have. If you try something incorrect, you don't even get a dialogue hint - just a headshake and crossed arms from the protagonist. In a few places I got confused because an item wasn't what I thought it was, or wasn't doing what I expected. Even the in-game hint system/walkthrough is confusing. The final act isn't great - I won't spoil it here outside of saying that it gets very repetitive. There's a few bugs too, although nothing gamebreaking. I had a few minor visual glitches where a scene would flicker upon loading, that sort of thing. There's an audio puzzle assist option (a great feature!) but it didn't seem to work on some of the audio puzzles? If you're really into moon logic puzzles and have a lot of patience, I'd recommend picking Dagdrøm up on sale. Otherwise, it's very hard to recommend.
Well, as an adeventure game its reasonably good. The story remains rather vague and impersonal (though some may like that), and after all, its a daydream), the music is ok, The puzzle difficulty goes from rather simple in the first chapter to insanely difficult in the last. Needed the full solution for most of it.
